New England's love affair with the Space Emperor begins
Just look at how many times Zoltan is mentioned here. The Boston media is already amazed at how much of a wave a fifth-round punter has made. If they only knew...
Not only that, but another article says that the Space Emperor is guaranteed a spot on the roster. But the most amazing part of the article (and arguably the most important moment in the history of the written word):
“It’s kind of weird to be known as a punter. Yeah, I have a weird name that’s easily recognizable or recallable. I’m just being myself, doing my thing. It’s just the fans kind of took to it. It wasn’t my doing in any way, shape or form. I was being myself. It kind of just happened on its own. I’m very thankful it happened because I’m accepting of all things that come my way.” --Mesko, on his cult following in Michigan and (soon to be) New England. Mesko has been given a number of nicknames, and he says “The Space Emperor of Space” is his favorite.Rich Garven of The Worcester Telegram recognizes the awesomeness that is Zoltan the Great. Lastly, this was featured in today’s Sports section of The Boston Globe. I fear for the author’s life, for he has committed the egregious sin of referring to the Space Emperor by His last name. I don’t even want to know what the gods demand for his atonement. Sheesh, no wonder print journalism is dying.
I might ask who *wouldn't* guarantee the Space Emporer a roster spot?
Here's the link to the Zoltan story that's broken above:

Unfortunately the other Zoltan thread has been polluted by the dunce of the day...
Hopefully this design can be brought back by popular demand; could be a best seller in New England...
...needs to make this available again, and give it Pats colors [recognizing that the NFL is willing to go the Supreme Court to enforce its monopoly on its own marketing].
I need a Pats Zoltan shirt ASAP!
Seriously, I am going to be all over this and everyone I know will be referring him as the Space Emperor from now on. This is happening.
This really hits home how much I'm gonna miss having Zoltan on this team. I kinda wish I had a #41 jersey so one day I can tell my kids about the greatest punter - nay, non-mortal - in the history of college football.
My friend from New Hampshire called me to ask about "that punter we got from Michigan" and at that moment I realized just how difficult it was to explain the sheer magnitude of Zoltan's awesomeness.
Our incoming freshman punter Will Hagerup will probably have a great career and be a great punter. Unfportunately he could never come close to living up to the legend that is Zoltan Mesko. Hagerup may punt the ball almost as well as Zoltan but he couldn't possibly be as cool and his name isn't Zoltan Mesko. God bless you Zoltan!
You're right on the name thing, but lets not assume before we start what the limits are on his punting. Zoltan was incredible. Here's hoping Hagerup kicks out one of the lights at the night game against ND.
Do you not see the coincidence that the first night game is after Zoltan leaves. I've heard there is talk that all games he plays in have to be day games to save the teams money from not having to change lights after every punt!
Yeah, I don't know what will be harder: Following Brett Favre in Green Bay or the Space Emperor at Michigan.
Being on the same team with Brady no punter has ever played a down in the NFL.
... since we know Belichick goes for it on 4th down with the best of them:

While I'm sure it won't surprise anyone here, I just discovered today (while making fun of Lendale White and his tequila chugging problem with my USC friend) that the Emperor did more reps on the bench at the combine than Lendale. There should be an over/under on how many pounds Lendale puts back on now that he's back under the tutelage of Carroll.
Well it was 16 but I'm sure he stopped voluntarily after proving that he could heave the ball 70 yds downfield if need be.
1. Zolton punts footballs into outerspace,
2. Plays with Tom Brady
3. Is the Emperor of the Universe
4. Will have his U of M degree.
mgoblog love as well! Did the Space Emperor (of Space) moniker originate here?

The game was boring. The best thing was watching The Space Emperor boot punts across the field and 2 dozen rows up the stands before the scrimmage.
So many dudes out here already have the Brady man crush. I can't wait until they have the full on Emperor worship.
