The new ACC/B1G bowl game at Ford Field has a name: The Quick Lane Bowl

Submitted by JHendo on

The new Detroit Lions sponsored bowl game at Ford field (which ended the "Pizza Bowl's" reign there), finally has a name.  The game, which which match the B1G against the ACC on Dec. 26th, will be known as the Quick Lane Bowl.  Quick friggin' Lane Bowl.

Why not bring back the Cherry Bowl, or heck, even just the Ford Bowl would be acceptable.  I guess I shouldn't complain too match about having a bowl game in Detroit against 2 major conferences, but I somehow tricked myself into thinking it wasn't going to be called something absurd.  Silly me...

Link?  Link.

On the positive side (trying to be positive), the sponsor happens to have a Motor City theme and logo, and, roughly, Detroit Tigers colors.

I think if they were to offer some kind of substantial rebate on tires for the first 10,000 ticket purchasers that may help generate some interest. Tires can be expensive.

Well, at least they kept it in the family since Quick Lane was created by Ford Motor Company to service its vehicles, at least in the beginning. Crain's has some of Ford's reaction to this news here - LINK

“We’re hoping to continue to raise awareness among consumers for the fast service, value and convenience our Quick Lanes deliver,” Frederiek Toney, a Ford vice president who also is president of the Global Ford Customer Service Division, said in a statement.

I am assuming that the halftime show will somehow involve rotating tires and checking the coolant levels.

The lowest bowl Michigan should play in over the next decade better be the Pinstripe Bowl, and that better be only a one time thing if it happens. Roses, Oranges, and Sugar are what we as a fan base deserve every year, IMO.

That would mean we finished the season at 6-6 and would have to play in the Quick Oil Change Bowl! (QOCB).  There would probably be a quick coaching change before or after this bowl game!

I will miss the pregame pizza party with the 10 cent slices and free pop with the slice that the LCPB had.

but I would not want the team I support (any team) playing in the "Quick Lane Bowl".  Another example of the fact that there are way, way way too many bowl games.

I understand you get the extra practice time, but would anyone on these boards want Michigan to play in this game if that was the only choice?
