Well hey, they already tried out a guy who excelled in his previous job and that didn't work out well for them so trying a guy who was humiliated in his previous job is certainly doing things a different way!
September 17th, 2022 at 5:20 PM ^
.... another reason to dislike Nebraska
September 17th, 2022 at 5:22 PM ^
Fire a drunk loser, chase an asinine womanizer. The Cornhole way.
Nebraska's program is a disaster.
September 17th, 2022 at 5:25 PM ^
Have the Frost drinking rumors been confirmed? Sam hinted at it on the air this past week.
September 17th, 2022 at 6:38 PM ^
I know nothing about it except that I would indeed be drinking heavily if I were Scott Frost
September 17th, 2022 at 7:13 PM ^
I'd bet a crisp five dollar bill that Urban also has a drinking problem, the way he is slurring his words on broadcasts.
September 17th, 2022 at 8:00 PM ^
His abuse was ambient if I remember correctly?
September 17th, 2022 at 8:33 PM ^
Ambien is never the first drug people try for their issues. It’s the opposite of a gateway drug.
September 18th, 2022 at 6:26 AM ^
Thinking goofy ass Meyer holds his liquor differently than Frost.
Wouldn't want to have a beer with either of them.
September 17th, 2022 at 5:23 PM ^
Didn't Trev Alberts stress that Nebraska would only seek candidates of the highest integrity?
September 17th, 2022 at 6:00 PM ^
Yes, and he also said he’s going to talk to everyone and that not all will be candidates and nobody should freak out and report that whomever he contacts is in line for job.
September 17th, 2022 at 7:10 PM ^
True, but it's a bad sign if you're contacting Urban Meyer for any reason at all, especially this early in the process. Aside from the character issues, his track record on coaching recommendations is abysmal. Most recent example: pushing Colorado St to hire Steve Addazio after he got canned at BC.
September 17th, 2022 at 5:23 PM ^
That's going to be really embarrassing for them.
I always pictured Urbz going to ND after getting run out of OSU. Does the infidelity thing disqualify him, or does he take over ND next year after freeman is fired?
September 17th, 2022 at 5:28 PM ^
Nah, it’s nothing that 15 seconds in a confessional booth can’t fix.
September 17th, 2022 at 6:26 PM ^
Feel like urbs might have more than 15 seconds of material there.
September 17th, 2022 at 6:57 PM ^
Isn't 15 seconds what it took Pitino?
Wait, what's going on in the booth?
September 17th, 2022 at 5:28 PM ^
I can’t imagine ND would touch Meyer with a hundred yard pole. The Catholic Church has enough scandal to deal with.
September 17th, 2022 at 6:04 PM ^
So what is one more.
September 17th, 2022 at 6:20 PM ^
Depending on your standards - winning at all costs erases a lot of embarassment.
September 17th, 2022 at 8:35 PM ^
Notre Dame is a Catholic institution. Transferring to a new parish abolishes one of all sexual sins.
September 17th, 2022 at 8:38 PM ^
double post
September 17th, 2022 at 5:24 PM ^
They are desperate at this point
September 17th, 2022 at 5:32 PM ^
Which Nebraska reached out to him? The team or his GF.
September 17th, 2022 at 6:12 PM ^
Or did Urbz reach out to Nebraska? Same question would apply
September 17th, 2022 at 7:20 PM ^
I thought he reached into Nebraska? Allegedly.
September 17th, 2022 at 5:35 PM ^
Neb: "Hey Urban, you interested? All the money..."
Meyer: "Hold on..." checks where Lincoln is on a map
click. bzzzzzzz.......
Neb: "Hello? Urban, you there"
September 17th, 2022 at 5:41 PM ^
I wouldn’t be surprised if he takes a hard look at NU. Saw where he claimed to have “snuck into the tailgating area at Nebraska just to meet some of the fans undercover and they were terrific. Some of the best fans I’ve ever met”. I never got tired of the piling on he got last year at Jville. He’s a piece of shit and deserved every bit of criticism he got last year at Jacksonville.
September 17th, 2022 at 6:14 PM ^
“Snuck into the tailgating area at Nebraska”
he he he
September 17th, 2022 at 7:01 PM ^
Correct designation for Nebraska is UNL, U of Nebraska Lincoln, not to be confused with UNO (Omaha). NU is Northwestern.
September 17th, 2022 at 6:18 PM ^
I've seen Nevraska coeds. No way Urban is interested.
September 17th, 2022 at 6:32 PM ^
I agree that Meyer won’t be interested. Nebraska, as a recruiting base, obviously doesn’t compare to Florida or Ohio.
September 17th, 2022 at 7:08 PM ^
He won at Utah too
September 17th, 2022 at 5:37 PM ^
I'm not one to say Nebraska is a program that does things the "right way", especially with the accusations that followed Osborne regarding his players maybe using PED's, but if they hire Meyer, I would consider that a "new low" and put them in the same category of being in the mud with OSU and PSU
September 17th, 2022 at 7:14 PM ^
That would be an amazing hire. Don’t kid yourself. According to most of the posters here he is a top 3 coach. What we know about Urban isn’t that bad when you compare it what to happens in big time college football and basketball.
September 17th, 2022 at 8:13 PM ^
For years Urban Meyer protected a man who was abusing his wife. He protected a murderer on his team who would go on to kill several more people. Maybe you think that "isn't that bad" compared to what happened at Baylor or Penn State or what happened with several team doctors (us, MSU, OSU), but it doesn't make sense to be that relativistic about morals. When someone does something really grimy, we shouldn't excuse it just because there are others who do even more heinous things.
If Urban Meyer were a mere cheater, you might have a point. Urban Meyer has destroyed lives, which to me makes his crimes on par with the worst in college football.

Desperation is a stinky cologne.
September 17th, 2022 at 8:44 PM ^
Désespoir. Pour Homme.
September 17th, 2022 at 5:42 PM ^
Nebraska’s going to be disappointed when they find out that Urban is more into Cayman Nebraska than he is Lincoln, Nebraska.
September 17th, 2022 at 5:44 PM ^
Nebraska has a good footprint in the Texas area...he would do well there, but it feels like a sellout if they hire him.
September 17th, 2022 at 6:05 PM ^
I mean, they DID. That pipeline pretty much dried up a while after they left the Big 12.
September 17th, 2022 at 7:24 PM ^
I don't think Urban Meyer is the guarantee he used to be in the new world order of NIL and transfer portal. Nebraska may have the potential to do well in NIL given their tremendous fan support, but they are at a serious disadvantage with a terrible local recruiting base.
Urban Meyer has been extremely shrewd in the jobs he has selected over most of his career, usually only taking jobs at the best programs in a conference (Utah in the MWC, Florida in the SEC, and Ohio State in the Big Ten). If he really wants to get back in the game, I think he would hold out for better than Nebraska. And the one true advantage Nebraska had in the Big Ten, playing in the Big Ten West, is going to disappear soon with the addition of USC and UCLA.
September 17th, 2022 at 5:47 PM ^
Insane everything going on with that guy. Funny thing is if he takes it he probably bails as soon as he makes them decent again.
September 17th, 2022 at 5:49 PM ^
This should shock no one. He would be the first person I call.
September 17th, 2022 at 5:57 PM ^
Definitely. The NFL went about as expected for him, but he has never failed anywhere he has coached in college. He could put Nebraska back in the map.
September 17th, 2022 at 6:04 PM ^
I think this is more "Meyer's agent reached out to Nebraska" because Urban's agent has absolutely no soul and will do anything to keep his client's name out there.
If you're Nebraska and you're actively trying to court Urban Meyer you've struck out on a ton of guys and it's way too early for that to be the case.
September 17th, 2022 at 7:29 PM ^
It's funny you mention this because his agent, Trace Armstrong, is the worst. He's known for leaking his clients' names everywhere. Brian Kelly and James Franklin are other coaches he represents.
September 17th, 2022 at 8:10 PM ^
Yeah, I couldn't remember the name but I knew he represented a lot of the Midwest coaches who seem like real assholes to work with.
I want nothing but the worst to happen to Meyer and any team that signs up for him to coach them.
September 17th, 2022 at 6:05 PM ^
Urbz and Cayman Nebraska must be an omen.
September 17th, 2022 at 6:06 PM ^
There's no way a philanderer like Urban would be welcome among the upstanding Christians of Nebraska.
J/K they'd sell their daughters to an Albanian prostitution ring if it got them into the playoffs.
