National Championship Ticket Eligibility Email Arrived

Submitted by 1989 UM GRAD on December 15th, 2021 at 9:28 PM

Email came from the AD a few hours ago.

I was approved for two tickets at the $450 level, which is the cheapest ticket available.

Face value is $450-$575-$675-$800-$1,000.

I have 298 points;  anyone with fewer than 500 was only able to request two tickets.

I'll be happy just to be able to go to the game...regardless of where I'm sitting.

They are trying to eliminate the secondary/scalping market by making these tickets actual market value. I contend that they are undervaluing the $1000 section and overvaluing the $450 nosebleeds. I might go if I find out my $450 tickets are in the first few rows of that $450 section, but no way are the top rows worth that much.

I agree about the $450 tickets, but I'd be shocked if the prices on the secondary market weren't insanely high if Michigan makes it to the Championship game.

You've got the school's largest alumni group within a five-hour drive...and the second or third largest (Chicago) just three hours away...and many more who could easily fly in to Indianapolis.

If that's what they are trying to do, they're doing a really poor job of it.

I believe get in price for the Big Ten Championship was close to $400.  If it's UM / Bama in the Natty, I highly doubt you can get in for under $1,000.  Hell, the get in price for the Orange Bowl is around $500.

I believe a lot of the 2019 decrease had to do with the location - the 49ers stadium in Santa Clara - and the Trilogy of the same matchup.

It won't be as high as Bama / Georgia that was in Atlanta, but if Michigan makes it, expect prices closer to 2018 than any of the other years.

160 points here as well and no bueno.  Secondary market for me as well.

The irony of this is if we beat Georgia the ticket demand will set records as will the TV audience.  But if Georgia faces Alabama again I think just the opposite will be true.  Ticket demand as well as the TV audience will set record lows.

Tough to find a good plate of grits in Indianapolis.

Congrats!

I fell below the cutoff, which they included in the email: "While we instituted ticket limits per request in order to assist as many season ticket holders/donors as possible, we were only able to fulfill requests for those with at least 210 priority points."

Will certainly be scouring for any available tickets should we have the opportunity to play in the game.

Nice progression!

Have gone from the LS7, which pulled in such a linear way that I always loved it too, to the LT4, which is in another class of performance.

The thing that I've always preferred about the Voodoo was that the flat plane crank plus firing sequence made for a much better sounding engine than anything GM offered. Beautiful music.

And yeah, the kids do require the change in rides, they definitely do. Enjoy them!

It’s interesting to me the points required to secure tickets (210) was lower than the big ten championship (215) and Orange Bowl (250).

Im sure limiting the number you’re able to request based on points up front helped spread the love but I also wonder if the allotment is bigger for this game since it is not tied to a specific bowl game.

This makes me think back to what my dad paid when I was a kid for 97 rose bowl tickets. I found 3 for $275 each with a unknown location. Ended up being row 2 in the endzone opposite of Michigan fans. The row in front of us was empty, nobody sat by us either. Very strange but not bad.

I couldn’t get tix in the Michigan section to the 2005 Rose Bowl so bought tix in the Texas section instead. Ended up not being able to go (lol, saw $900+ plane tix and was a broke college kid). For the next 15 years, I was on every UTexas mailing list despite all my unsubscribe attempts. Called for donations, etc.  I *think* I’m finally free from it. Lol.

Surprised the point cutoff is lower than earlier games.  Either the allotment is bigger, they restricted # of tickets for top people more, or lots of people blew out their budgets flying the family to Miami for New Years.

Whatever the reason, happy to get 2 after missing out on the Orange Bowl.  Now we just have to beat Georgia…..

The opportunity to drive a few hours and see us pummel Alabama/Cincy for a national championship is well worth the $900 for nosebleeds.  Got mine approved and I’ll be there (if we make it).
