National Championship Game Open Thread
Well, it'll probably be a short thread, since everyone has already said they're not watching tonight. But for those that are, it's the end of college football on the field for awhile. Gameday on. Pregame in about half an hour. It'll keep us busy till the Two and a Half Men Open thread starts later tonight.

Thought we had a TD there....7 qrts ,no TDs

The only thing that I can figure is that Alabama is trying to increase the amount of money Allstate will donate in scholarships by only scoring by field goals.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:48 PM ^
This is bordering on a blowout
January 9th, 2012 at 10:49 PM ^
The best thing Alabama did was game plan a more aggressive offense. It's causing LSU to respect the whole field and therefore is opening up the game more. Bama is moving the ball as both teams could potentially move the ball now. They are still struggling a bit, as they should against a good D, but they can at least move it.

Has a field goal kicker ever been the mvp of a nat'l championship game?
January 9th, 2012 at 10:50 PM ^
Is the kicker the MVP? I mean seriously.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:52 PM ^
Was it the same kicker on all five?
January 9th, 2012 at 11:05 PM ^
for most FG attempted and tied all bowl record for 5 successful.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:51 PM ^
only a two possession game. Odds aren't with LSU though.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:51 PM ^
21 - 0, anyone?
January 9th, 2012 at 10:51 PM ^
Game MVP?
January 9th, 2012 at 10:52 PM ^
my wife in the sack.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:53 PM ^
I'm sorry.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:55 PM ^
I mean, just sayin'. You might want to take a good long look in the mirror.
January 9th, 2012 at 11:03 PM ^
... and she's dead.
ಠ_ಠ
January 9th, 2012 at 11:10 PM ^
That might be an improvement.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:52 PM ^
24-0 eight field goal fest by AL. See how close I can get.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:52 PM ^
This is the most pathetic NCG since Oklahoma's a few years back,
January 9th, 2012 at 10:54 PM ^
Hopefully there will be BCS chaos, that's all I care about.
January 9th, 2012 at 11:02 PM ^
If LSU continues to flounder there will be no chaos.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:54 PM ^
no touchdowns does not make for very exciting football. I know Brent is trying his best to make this game exciting, but it's really not.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:54 PM ^
How ESPN will spin this into a positive headline..."Defense wins Championships..." Bullshit.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:54 PM ^
can be really proud of their 6th in a row.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:55 PM ^
In the words of George Costanza: "Well, that's it for me! You've been great!" I'll catch what I "missed" tomorrow on Sportscenter.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:55 PM ^
Jarrett Lee cannot be a happy camper right now. I think you've got to give him a shot at this point.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:59 PM ^
LSU just got a FIRST DOWN!!!!!!!!!!! A FIRST DOWN, man. Do you know how amazing that is?
I kid, I kid. Lee should have been in two series ago.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:56 PM ^
Does Miles just go back to being a crazy damn Yankee who won with Saban's players in LSU fans eyes?
January 9th, 2012 at 11:01 PM ^
It depends on how drunk they are.
January 9th, 2012 at 11:01 PM ^
After this game they will be clamoring for his firing!
January 9th, 2012 at 11:02 PM ^
this team-with his (over)recruits-through an undefeated season, played an incredibly difficut schedule, won the S.E.C., and-this game not withstanding-had a pretty good year. I think people will still love him.
January 9th, 2012 at 11:04 PM ^
They will not be happy that he benched the QB who went 9-0 in favor of the guy who got suspended, especially when said player stunk up the joint in the title game.
January 9th, 2012 at 11:16 PM ^
Any sports fans before?

Particularly from the South?
January 9th, 2012 at 10:56 PM ^
I kind of don't want either team to score a TD so that the rest of the football world can mock them.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:57 PM ^
is the Tides' defense making the LSU offense look bad, versus the LSU offense making the Tide defense look amazing.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:59 PM ^
January 9th, 2012 at 10:57 PM ^
You know what's really going to be pathetic? The kicker is going to be named most outstanding player of the national championship game...
January 9th, 2012 at 10:58 PM ^
Y U still play Jefferson?
January 9th, 2012 at 11:00 PM ^
Man, I just don't get why they keep sending him out there. Not only is Jefferson completely ineffective he's bitching at his own players.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:58 PM ^
Superdome y u not like offense.
January 9th, 2012 at 11:01 PM ^
The Superdome, home of the New Orleans Saints, doesn't like offense...
January 9th, 2012 at 11:03 PM ^
Neither of these teams have the o-line holding call exemption that the Saints do...
January 9th, 2012 at 11:05 PM ^
Touche.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:58 PM ^
I hate LSU. And Alabama. In fact, I think that right about now I hate everyone south of the Ohio River. I'm cheering against whoever's on offense, because I find their total failure to be entertaining.
January 9th, 2012 at 11:00 PM ^
I hate everyone south of Toledo.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:59 PM ^
LSU fans will be hearing "Jordan Jefferson dropping back to pass" in their nightmares for years.
January 9th, 2012 at 10:59 PM ^
I wonder what Michael Weinreb will write about this game? If ours was so horrible and boring then what will he say about this?
January 9th, 2012 at 11:03 PM ^
along the lines about two outstanding defenses clashing.
January 9th, 2012 at 11:07 PM ^
Same attitude as that 20 year old looking jackass in the New Orleans paper who trashed the teams after the game. Wonder how much he's loving LSU's performance tonight.
January 9th, 2012 at 11:00 PM ^
What a great play call!
January 9th, 2012 at 11:00 PM ^
4 down offense for LSU? Unless their defense scores, they're running out of time.
