My OSU Friend's Comment On My Facebook

Submitted by Yes I am THAT guy on

OSU friend: D Robinson = Overrated.

My response: This must be a joke? Last I heard, T pryor had the number 2 team in the country surrounding him, not to mention one of the best defenses in the country forcing opponents to have trouble moving the ball, which gives him TONS more opportunities in the offense. Secondly, T pryor has the brain capacity of, i dont know, a buckeye seed? Guy is a future Vick cell mate.

Let's not forget Denard Robinson is probably the most humble player in college football. (watch this clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2NbPo4mkFuE&feature=player_embedded) Which is crazy because right now he has more rushing yards than any player in college football, and a 70+ passing percentage. I'd take him any day of the week over Terrelle. Michigan may not be the best team in the country but Denard is the single most exciting player to watch, and his productivity thus far has never been seen in college football before. Healthy Denard = Heisman a coming our way.

Random friend: Ownage

OSU friend: Haha... Trust me i'm way more critical of pryor than you are. In my opinion he doesnt deserve any awards. Not yet anyway. But robinsons inflated numbers are the result of a bad defense and mediocre opponents. Lets not forget that last year UM started 4-0 and tate forcier was gonna win the Heisman. Then Big Ten play started and things went south. Wait til he plays Wisconsin, Iowa, Ohio State or even Penn State. The numbers will go down, UM will lose 3 to 4 games and robinson will be "just another quarterback." but i could just be saying all that bc i'm a Buckeye :)

My response: Tate didnt even put up numbers close to Denard. Denard is gunna piss off big 10 defenses to the max. Last year on a drive RichRod gave him in the Iowa game, he moved the chains 80+ yards for a td in the 4th quarter, and they knew exactly what he was going to do: run up the middle. Our offensive line is very deep this year, and the WR's are talented and experienced. Denard last year and Denard this year is like night and day. He basically came in last year 3 weeks before the season started and didn't know anything in the playbook. He is going to tear up big 10 d's if he can stay healthy.

But anyway, here is a video for your enjoyment, well mostly mine :)

Yeahhhhhhh it's a long post, could be a diary. Any thoughts on my defense of Denard? Suck it OSU fans.

I agree it has been a frenzy. It always is with the media. I think it's to be expected from the fans at this point.

I hope they (especially osu fans) grow to hate him much...much... more.

I'm just glad this much hype is being placed on a Michigan player. If Denard stays healthy it's just going to get worse and last at least a few more years.

In short...

This is a good problem to have.

Get use to it.

You're not going to convince an OSU fan (or anyone else) to like Denard. There is no point in getting into it. Plenty of my friends have talked shit about Denard, but I give them a simple "time will tell" or "ball don't lie". Do Denard a favor and don't win him enemies.

Seriously

OP: "Denard is the single most exciting player to watch..."

I completely agree, and thought so from the middle of the season's first game. Hope he stays healthy.

It's pretty cool that OSU and UM have managed to recruit stellar 'dual threat' qb talent like Terrelle Pryor, Braxton Miller, Denard Robinson and Devin Gardner in such a narrow span of time.  Too bad only one guy can carry the ball.

"ball don't lie"

srsly?

Obviously they meant

D. Robinson == Overrated.

Stupid Buckeyes trying to assign something of which it is not instead of demonstrating equalities that make no sense either. Idiots!

Just reply with

D. Robinson != Overrated

You're the one with enough time to respond on your own post....

DAMMIT, now you made me do it!

But seriously, ragging on one another because you're opposing fans is fun and all, but it's hardly post-worthy, unless your friend is TP and said that he challenges Denard to a foot race by the flag pole in the Diag tomorrow at 3 PM with his shoelaces untied. Man,that would be sweet! You know Denard would have to give him a head start to make it fair.

Wait, what was I originally talking about?

You should have responded with Terrelle Pryor's numbers are inflated with low level divison 1 opponents (non BCS) and a over rated Miami team that Terelle put the same numbers up against as vs Marshall... Terrelle has one job, manage the offense and not cause turn overs.  The defense will win the game for OSU he just can't lose the game for them.

Your buckeye pals will not see the light until they themselves start having bad years. The fan base will be blindsided by an epic fail eventually. The fan attrition will be the largest known in the history of sports and the Wolverines will be filled with overwhelming joy. Until this day, a pissing match with a Tressel-era fan is useless.

Why bother trying to convince anybody? Florida fans loved Tim Tebow, the media loved Tim Tebow, he was a great player who won the Heisman his sophomore year, but it was annoying as shit to listen to a Florida fan talk about Tim Tebow all the time.

Michigan fans love Denard Robinson, the media loves Denard Robinson, he is a great player who [will] win the Heisman his sophomore year, but its annoying as shit for people from other fanbases to listen to us talk about Denard Robinson.

Just enjoy what we have and ignore the haters.

and yet I second that.

And seriously, arguing with an opposing fan when your teams are GOING to play each other anyway?  And with a buckeye no less?  The other day I almost got dragged into an argument my friend was having with her classmate at MSU (she went to M undergrad), but there's just no point in it- do it on the field.

Just as an aside... this guy has a friend at OSU?  Who he actually tries to talk football with?  I don't mean to judge, but that is either balsy or masochistic.

is that Tates shoulder exploded in the middle of the year and he was throwing with a grade 2 separation. I didn't see a whole lot of qb's trying to do that. With a healthy stick figure -I mean qb- we were a different team last year. So all this 'denard heisman-tate heisman hype blah blah blah tate sucked and denard's no different' should go right out the window.

Try to get under the skin of rival fans.

If rival fans get annoyed and elevate the debate, mission accomplished.

If rival fans run to seek reassurance from fellow fans after the confrontation, ownage.

The blogs they are a'changing.  Seriously can we designate an area for "unsponsored" or "unofficial" blog posts?

I'm normally not an elitist or anything like that, but really... to predict that Pryor is a future inmate of Vick's?  Wrong on so many levels.  We don't do that here.  You've added no value.  I won't regurgitate any of that in a debate with a buckeye fan.  You know why?  Because, I know we have no case.  Pryor has won a Rose bowl, something we haven't done in quite some time.  OSU's program has been dominant, and as of late we've been below par.

I love me some Denard (especially over Pryor) but I don't need to debate it with a buckeye fan to feel better about it.

EDIT: I also want to add that I work with an OSU fan (who went to Indiana!)  He talks a little smack here and there about how Michigan needs to find a D, we need to step it up bc the rivalry is not what it was... yada, yada, yada.  Know what I say? Nothing.  I smile because I know things will change, it's only a matter of time.

Completely agree with everything you said here, including the reference to jail. Not cool. The time is coming when we will be able to talk all the smack we want if we are so inclined. For now, I will chuckle at the Ohio Bobcats talking mascot smack at the Bucks. But I know our time is coming, sooner than I had recently thought. Our smack just won't involve physical threats to opposing fans and burning stuff.

Everyone can just not read it if they don't like it.  If a person thinks it is so very bad, I suggest he alert a moderator and have them delete it.

I do wish there was a direct message function. Maybe there is and I am too dense to find it.  That way a grievance about someone's posting skills could be sent directly to them rather than the usual public beating in the town square.

There hasn't been one instance where I found what was originally written worse than the acerbic posts criticizing it.  After about 20 or so of these, I think that is saying something. Last post for me on this topic. Because if you look at it, I am not doing what I suggest everyone else do in the very first line.

I won't shut up about rudeness to fellow Michigan fans with the written word though. That really messes with this blog way more than a post someone considers a waste of time or space.

You're exactly right. This is my only beef with this post. "cool story bro's" are welcome, but not if they're something to the tune of "almost fought someone at X stadium..." or "My OSU friend said this, so I told him [insert negative and inappropriate insult here]" It's just unbecoming.
