MSU's Gabe Brown declares for NBA draft
So Gabe is leaving Izzo after two years.
Gabe Brown will forgo his remaining eligibility at Michigan State and declare for the 2022 NBA draft. The All-Big Ten wing will sign with agents Steve Haney and Pedro Power of Parlay Sports. Bouncy 3'n'D prospect shot 40% for 3 the past two seasons. Highlights: pic.twitter.com/fCiKWaBXqj

Good, good. My diabolical plan is working!

Brown played four years in East Lansing. Four too many for anyone with any common sense imo.

Gabe Brown was a perfect fit for what JB did offensively. He picked his heart over his brain.

i think that guy has a great game and he always stuck out to me as the most skilled of sparty's players.
Christie and Hoggard are 2 of the more skilled players. Brown could shoot the 3. And could run out on fast break but could he dribble? Did he have a midrange game? I'd say he's just a shooter.
i appreciated his pure athleticism and i'm guessing he will catch on with the NBA.
I do agree, NBA game suits a catch a shoot guy who can also run the floor.
Hoggard is pretty much only good in transition. Walker is a much better point guard than him and just better in general.
I like Hoggards playmaking ability more. More dynamic to the basket and a better facilitator.
Walker has a better shot tho
You don't need a mid range game in basketball anymore. It's basically a waste of time to even practice it. You need to shoot the three, handle the ball, and finish at the rim
Tell that to our opponents this year. Too soon?...
Brian just wrote about re-adjusting his fatwa against non-at the rim-twos. How many times this year did Eli or Dickinson hit a 15 footer jump shot when it was open and the situation merited it to good effect?
Does the modern game reward the three point shot? Absolutely? But does the "long two" completely disappear from the modern game? Not if a good shooter is open. Helps keep the defense honest if nothing else.
i think hall is their most talented player. glad izzo doesn't think so, as he doesn't get big minutes.

Lol Gabe isn't a 2 and done NBA prospect. He's been there 4 yrs. And was he really All Big Ten? I know he could get hot but he dissappeared in many games I've watched.
Lol. We would have loved to have him on our team.
Abandon ship!
I actually thought he had some talent. At the right school I bet he wouldve put up 16+ a game.
If I needed an agent, I'd want him to be named Pedro Power.
Sign with Pedro and your wildest dreams will come true.
They didn't want him anyway. They'll be better off. .... :D
1. He was there 4 years.
2. He was third team All Big Ten. I guess that counts but your post kind of implies he was first team.
Whatever
I honestly would have taken him on our team this year. Not as a main option but he’s the type of player we missed off the bench (a la Chaundee) or to supplant Houstan in the starting rotation.
Any Gabe or Chaundee Brown types in the portal we need to pursue big time
All big ten and Izzo could only get him less than 8 shots per game
The big complaint I gathered from MSU fans about Brown (he was passive and didn't really hunt for shots in the way they'd have hoped) was similar to UM with Brandon Johns, though Brown obviously had a better season. But Brown had a usage rate similar to Brooks this year and MSU absolutely needed him to do more. I could see him being more successful in the pros because he'll just be asked to play defense and maybe shoot an open jumper against bench guys, which could suit his skillet more than as a focal point of the offense.
30 NBA teams. 350+ DI programs. Plus International players. How many open spots? 60?
Gabe Brown, perpetual Mr. Breakout Year, who never really broke out
I bet he has a better nba career than college career. A Cameron Johnson, Luke Kennard, Otto Porter type player
Probably a player who would have done more at a different school. Izzo doesn't work for everyone and Brown having 4 underwhelming years most notable for the time Izzo grabbed and screamed at him during a tournament game feels like proof of that.
He'll likely be a G-league guy who might work his way onto an NBA roster as a deep bench 3&D guy. Wish him luck.
Ummm, he's been there 4 years.
I was always underwhelmed by Brown. He always just hovered around the 3 point line. If he had any kind of handle, or could work on a post up game he could be lethal. He was Stauskas without the "not just a shooter" tag.
Wish he had stayed to take up a scholarship. A nobody who has no handle and hits an occasional 3. He could not hold Duncan's jock
Looks like Bingham is going to declare too.
