most annoying coaches

Submitted by naplesblue on August 7th, 2019 at 11:13 AM

I got an email this morning from a site called ncaa at sports bling .com They named Jim Harbaugh as number 1 annoying coach. Amongst the reasons they cited was his penchant for blaming others for his failures as an offensive coach. What say you

I expect even people who dislike Michigan would agree if the question was which coach don't you want at the university your daughter is attending Jim H should not be receiving votes on that list unlike a lot of other past and current Big Ten coaches.

Or which coach do you not want your child recording practices for.

Honest question: has Harbaugh ever done that?

His comments about the officiating after the 2016 OSU game might be the closest you'd come, but that's a real stretch.

He really has not hesitated to shake things up when they're not working, so I don't see it.

Sports bling dot com? What would make one click that? You're better off clicking on the buzzfeed shit where a guy fixes plumber's crack with this one weird trick.

2015 and 2016 Harbaugh? Yeah, a little annoying and embarrassing at times. Since then he has toned it down a ton and anyone who complains about him is mostly doing so out of spite for Michigan on the whole.

Dantonio has bothered me since day 1, but I also attribute a lot of that to MSU fans being incapable of admitting he's an asshole every bit as much as they perceive Harbaugh to be.

Meyer for obvious reasons.

Izzo for the exact reason that site you mentioned claims to hate about Harbaugh. Except Izzo has been doing it for decades and to a crazy degree.

Dabo's sanctimonious claims of religious moral superiority annoy the crap out of me.

Ol purple face shouldn't be allowed near civilization in general the way he acts. As someone who had coaches like him in high school and college, I could never compete for that asshole.

Does the story (which you didn't link) give examples of JH blaming others for "his failures as an offensive coach"?  Because, honestly, I've never heard him throwing blame at people without also including himself.  I mean, if replacing an OC or OL coach means you're 'blaming others', then every head coach in every sport is guilty.  Sounds like nothing more than a personal ax, and that's without even reading the story!

I seriously don't understand what people hate about Harbaugh.  He speaks openly and truthfully, he doesn't throw people under the bus, never blames or harasses players or fans, and never fails to answer an honest (and worthy) question.  When he doesn't answer, it's because the question is beyond stoopid or aimed at trapping him somehow (completely out of left field, like his first Rome interview).  He never promised anything when he was hired, either!

It does not. Below is the full excerpt regarding why they ranked Harbaugh as the most annoying...it’s 98% rhetoric, 2% facts:

”Harbaugh was supposed to make Michigan title contenders again. Instead, he's failed to beat Ohio State, has been embarrassed in bowl games, and has wasted the talents of NFL players with three and four-loss seasons. The problem with Harbaugh, however, is that he's kept up this tough football coach bravado and Stanford-esque "smartest guy in the room" persona despite the fact that his archaic offense isn't translating into Ws at the college level. I'm sure when he goes 10-4 next year, he'll find some way to blame someone other than himself.”

When has Harbaugh ever blamed anyone besides himself for problems/mistakes (aside from calling out the refs for their mistakes)?

Writing an article about “annoying” coaches screams I want clicks but don’t want to do any actual research or choose a topic that shows any depth of knowledge because I have none.

I can totally understand people not liking Harbaugh. He's unusual among high level coaches and he gets a lot of press.

However, as you say, he's never thrown someone under the bus - even when they deserved it (Pep). Brian Kelly on the other hand talked shit about his staff and players by name. Kelly is a genuine dickhead, but probably less annoying to people than Harbaugh because he's less visible.

Izzo hands down for me. Coach K would be right there as a close second. Pete Carroll was one I couldnt stand at USC. Dabo's aww shucks religious crap is annoying as well. Scott Frost as well

The more HATE the better. (And it is a complete BS. I don't remember him ever saying negative things about his OC and coaches on Offense. He replaced them quite a bit just like any good coach should do)

We live in an age where the internet has given all the information in the world to anyone at their fingertips and despite that it has made everyone collectively dumber.

It always amazes me how much others/rivals dislike anything to do with Michigan.  Harbaugh is a perfect foil for that but not the only one.

Example - I just listened to the M season preview done by Off Tackle Empire Podcast.  They cover the entire B1G but the hosts are MSU and Illini Alums.  It went just about as expected.  They absolutely HATE the offseason/ preseason attention Michigan gets i.e. the whole “Speed in Space” stuff.  That would be enough, but the last 5 minutes of the podcast was apparently outtakes from a previous show where they rant about how much they are looking forward for Michigan hoops to suck and Juwan Howard to fail.   Apparently this will happen after all Beilein’s kids leave post this season.  They further claim that all M fans are fine with Howard/M going back to the “rampant cheating” of the fab five era.

I do love me some Spartan schadenfreude on occasion and enjoy Scott Bell’s Twitter. Other than that don’t think much about our rivals so I cannot really understand the hatred/envy of these folks.  (Disclaimer - I do listen to a LOT of podcasts from other teams  I.e. UW, PSU, MSU, ND but that is mainly football season “prep” when I run out of M fare.)

Uh... what? Are you sure you didn't start a shitty website and you figured this would be a good way to drum up some traffic?
