You have to look at it in terms of what kind of TE they are. Bunting and Gentry are clearly pass catchers with minimal blocking. TWJ is a solid blocker and threatening pass catcher. McKeon is a bit in between both of them. In 2 TE sets, you'd probably expect Bunting and TWJ. Next one up will probably be McKeon. Surprised to hear nothing from Eubanks. He was getting a lot of hype in the spring.

I was going to wait one more week, but what the hell?

As always, I have no idea with some of those LBs. Especially at the SAM spot.

At this point, all updates for me can be at WR, the right side of the OL, the backup LBs and the CBs. It sounds like everything else is set in "stone."

Those four areas are by far where I personally have the most intrigue.

  1. There's competition at WR, but how are they as a unit (besides talented and full of potential)? How do they compare to last year's unit?
  2. Can Onwenu hold off the competition? Is RT going to be serviceable or is this headed for another year of "meh"? Also, if Runyan doesn't get the RT spot, could he play RG over Onwenu or is he a tackle only now?
  3. Where are all of these backup LBs actually playing? Who beyond Robo is showing flashes of a future starter and key contributor ala Bush Jr. last season?
  4. Similar to RT...what's the real deal at CB? There's no Jourdan Lewis, but do we have anyone who's playing at a 2016 Stribling/Clark level?

That was left from the spring. But if you look at the depth. There's no real reason for him to, but he will and we'll scream about it in 4 years unless he gets the redshirt back. Just like Dwumfour last season.

Surprised to see no mention whatsoever of Walker, but he's still, got time to work his way into the rotation. Either way, you've got to hope the OL gels together this season. Without them it doesn't matter who's in the backfield.

He's just not getting the quality reps due to the competition ahead of him. I just hope he doesn't get discouraged because there will be carries next year for sure.

Hopefully he can come in and contribute on special teams this year and get a handful of a meaningful snaps...then work all off-season and really make it a 3-headed monster next season. This year is really going to test his "love" for football and commitment to getting better and being a team player. I've certainly heard nothing that says he's not "all in" and ready to meet the challenge.

But I'm not surprised at all. There's only so many snaps and RB #4 doesn't get a ton of the quality ones with a 1st or 2nd team OL in front of him.

To be jumping Evans or right next to him shows a great deal of improvement. I remember him saying when he committed his plan was three years. If he puts up monster numbers he just might back up that statement!

I'm hoping Keith Washington makes some noise during camp. While I typically don't "root" for players, I'm pulling for him. I think he's been a fan favorite since we heard about him wanting to do a 40-yard dash in the parking lot as a recruit.

If not you could be two years or forever away. For RB, OL WR TE....its only going to make this years team explosive. Ruiz could take a guard spot. Onwenu could be sitting. Black is a three year starter and 4th year NFL draft choice. Runyan at RT means JBB could be looking at a career coming off the bench. Competition is everywhere.

I'm worried about the right side of the line and CBs. I think speight is an up and down guy who gives you some good games and then some clunkers. He'll throw a great pass and then a near pick 6.

Great point re: Speight. A lot of the issues/criticisms with him is consistency and not necessarily lack of ability. He'll thread the needle on some NFL style combo routes, then overthrow the deep ball in Iowa or the 2nd down lob pass to a wide open Chesson that he basically threw out of bounds after the FSU fumble at the 1 in the Orange Bowl.

Some guys make huge jumps from year 1 to year 2 in terms of consistency, and some guys are Jay Cutler.

I'd love it if Perry, McDoom and Schoenle can hold down the slot this year allowing Martin to redshirt, it would be nice to get some separation between all of the awesome Wide Receivers.

A few days ago Don Brown had some nice things to say about how Drake Harris was doing at CB so far, but this doesn't seem to indicate he's even competing for a back-up role.    I guess there's a lot of football to be played until game 1.

Remember when every thread got 220+ comments? Those were the good ole days when people were engaged and the HD app actually allowed you to post comments. Mobile, the wave of the future. Sure would be nice to have an app that actually worked.

I think it's a fair question, and I don't know why you're being downvoted. If a deal with Rivals prevents umbig11 from posting here, then why can he post on TtB? It's either $ or Magnus and umbig11 have some type of friendship or whatever.
