Since this was such a big hit the other day (220+ comments, I think), I figure I'll give you guys a link to another set of practice notes from umbig11 he passed along to me today.

I saw the (McKeon, Gentry, TWJ) part, but was that in order?
August 7th, 2017 at 10:14 PM ^
You have to look at it in terms of what kind of TE they are. Bunting and Gentry are clearly pass catchers with minimal blocking. TWJ is a solid blocker and threatening pass catcher. McKeon is a bit in between both of them. In 2 TE sets, you'd probably expect Bunting and TWJ. Next one up will probably be McKeon. Surprised to hear nothing from Eubanks. He was getting a lot of hype in the spring.
His_Dudeness would downvote this. Lil' bitch...

I was going to wait one more week, but what the hell?
As always, I have no idea with some of those LBs. Especially at the SAM spot.

At this point, all updates for me can be at WR, the right side of the OL, the backup LBs and the CBs. It sounds like everything else is set in "stone."
Those four areas are by far where I personally have the most intrigue.
- There's competition at WR, but how are they as a unit (besides talented and full of potential)? How do they compare to last year's unit?
- Can Onwenu hold off the competition? Is RT going to be serviceable or is this headed for another year of "meh"? Also, if Runyan doesn't get the RT spot, could he play RG over Onwenu or is he a tackle only now?
- Where are all of these backup LBs actually playing? Who beyond Robo is showing flashes of a future starter and key contributor ala Bush Jr. last season?
- Similar to RT...what's the real deal at CB? There's no Jourdan Lewis, but do we have anyone who's playing at a 2016 Stribling/Clark level?

I was thinking the same about Hudson. I doubt he gets a redshirt.
Where's Jordan Anthony and James Hudson are they still around?????

He's just not getting the quality reps due to the competition ahead of him. I just hope he doesn't get discouraged because there will be carries next year for sure.
Hopefully he can come in and contribute on special teams this year and get a handful of a meaningful snaps...then work all off-season and really make it a 3-headed monster next season. This year is really going to test his "love" for football and commitment to getting better and being a team player. I've certainly heard nothing that says he's not "all in" and ready to meet the challenge.
But I'm not surprised at all. There's only so many snaps and RB #4 doesn't get a ton of the quality ones with a 1st or 2nd team OL in front of him.

Higdon seemed to be kneck and kneck with Evans toward the end of last season already. No suprise there. I see them both splitting 70% (35% each) of the carries with the other 30% going to Isaac, who I think will be phenomenal if he gets the touches.

Agreed, primarily on the CBs. If the DL is as dominant as it is shaping up to be, that may take some of the pressure off the CBs, but I see them being the weak link in the defense. I think we're going to quickly realize just how good Lewis and Stribling were in coverage.

Great point re: Speight. A lot of the issues/criticisms with him is consistency and not necessarily lack of ability. He'll thread the needle on some NFL style combo routes, then overthrow the deep ball in Iowa or the 2nd down lob pass to a wide open Chesson that he basically threw out of bounds after the FSU fumble at the 1 in the Orange Bowl.
Some guys make huge jumps from year 1 to year 2 in terms of consistency, and some guys are Jay Cutler.
He made some mistakes in big games but I was impressed by him late in a few games too. He was solid and a couple of those losses could have easily gone our way.

A few days ago Don Brown had some nice things to say about how Drake Harris was doing at CB so far, but this doesn't seem to indicate he's even competing for a back-up role. I guess there's a lot of football to be played until game 1.

I have no problem reading and commenting in my mobile browser
I think it's a fair question, and I don't know why you're being downvoted. If a deal with Rivals prevents umbig11 from posting here, then why can he post on TtB? It's either $ or Magnus and umbig11 have some type of friendship or whatever.
