Milton/McNamara shades of Henson/Brady?

Anyone else see similaties between the 2 situations? Physical specimen vs the cerebral QB lacking elite arm strength with incredible competitiveness?

Let's be clear: Henson never started over Brady.  For part of the 1999 season, he played the 2nd quarter after Brady played the 1st, and the better performer got the second half.   Both guys got to see the field.  The main issue was that it went on for too long, after it seemed clear that Brady was better.

Here, it looks like the best QB on the team simply didn't get a shot.

Why?  Why did it take this long to get CM in the game?  What the hell are the coaches looking at in practice?   It’s not even close between Milton and McNamara.  I don’t understand what the hell is going on with Michigan football.  And why the heck is Don Brown still coaching?

Either McNamara is the worst practice QB in the history of football, or Harbaugh can’t evaluate QB talent worth shit.

I’ll let you draw your own conclusions on which is the more likely scenario.

Literally said the same thing to the wife during the game. Seems like the coaches wanted Milton to play more for some reason even though it’s clear on the field that Cade is a baller.

Henson was a very good college QB given his experience. The NFL gave him a chance after not playing for a couple years.

This here is BS favoritism, Cade better get first team reps.

Might as well just ask this here - in what universe are Milton and McNamara in any way even playing the same position? One is accurate, decisive and goes through reads and one doesn’t seem to have a clue. Damning indictment on this coaching staff.

People are using words like cerebral, competitor, moxie, "it" factor to talk about Cade. I find this a bit annoying.

He's so much better than Milton because he's way more accurate, has a quicker release, has way better timing, makes better decisions, can change his arm slot/release points when hands are in his face, better footwork, etc, etc.

In short, he's getting it done because he's a way more SKILLED QB. Competitiveness or anything cerebral is like 1% of it.

Also, he doesn't have Milton's arm cannon but he has enough arm strength. He can be a Drew Brees type player (stylistically--not saying he'll be a HOFer).

So let’s set the record straight on this. Brady was good. But he started the 98 season with absolute debacles vs Syracuse and ND. He lost vs OSU (Warm day 70 degrees I was there) Henson had some Milton qualities where he would make an amazing throw followed by a bad throw. But he was a freshman. Lloyd was torn and played both of them. For all the stuff Lloyd did, that wasn’t a bad strategy. I liked Henson, but until his junior year, he was just so inconsistent. Brady was the steadier hand and it made sense to play him, McNamara’s production is so far ahead of Milton, it’s no contest. Got to go with McNamara,

ehh.. only in the sense that there now appears to be some QB controversy. The actual dynamic between the two situations are almost polar opposite

Henson/Brady: experienced game managing quarterback (Brady) shares snaps with all-American Freshman (Henson) quarterback due to potential

Milton/McNamara: older player loses snaps / starting job to younger player who runs the offense more efficiently
