Brady: GOAT
Henson: Damn good. Took the money but picked the wrong sport.
Milton: Million dollar scattershot arm
McNamara: Two games. Who knows? Weird mechanics.
Silly comparisons.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:21 AM ^
The big difference is Henson could play
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:27 AM ^
Right! The only way this is shades of Henson/Brady is if my grandmother was Henson
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:21 AM ^
Let's be clear: Henson never started over Brady. For part of the 1999 season, he played the 2nd quarter after Brady played the 1st, and the better performer got the second half. Both guys got to see the field. The main issue was that it went on for too long, after it seemed clear that Brady was better.
Here, it looks like the best QB on the team simply didn't get a shot.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:33 AM ^
Why? Why did it take this long to get CM in the game? What the hell are the coaches looking at in practice? It’s not even close between Milton and McNamara. I don’t understand what the hell is going on with Michigan football. And why the heck is Don Brown still coaching?
November 22nd, 2020 at 7:10 AM ^
Milton looks good in practice against these corners.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:37 PM ^
Really though? I have seen too many missed passes to open WRs
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:23 AM ^
Hahahahahahahahaha!!!
Good stuff, good stuff.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:24 AM ^
This seems like a reach
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:24 AM ^
Either McNamara is the worst practice QB in the history of football, or Harbaugh can’t evaluate QB talent worth shit.
I’ll let you draw your own conclusions on which is the more likely scenario.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:30 AM ^
He’s so bad that he recruited McNamara. More likely, it was seniority thing.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:43 AM ^
Yeah because we all know the best coaches and top programs all base their starting QBs on seniority.
You do realize your comment makes Harbaugh look even more incompetent?
November 22nd, 2020 at 11:15 AM ^
That has consistently been a problem with Harbaugh. Giving O’Korn the start over Peterson, giving Patterson the start over McCaffrey. He consistently overvalues experience and undervalues talent.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:33 AM ^
Maybe they got swept up in the arm strength? Or wanted to give the upperclassman a shot?
all I can tell is that they called the game 100% different (for the better) when McNamara was in. That alone is worth the switch
November 22nd, 2020 at 5:29 PM ^
Actually I think it's that McNamara can read defenses.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:24 AM ^
I don’t recall that team being 2-3 and losing to Indiana.
Hopefully like that team, this team beats OSU.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:24 AM ^
Literally said the same thing to the wife during the game. Seems like the coaches wanted Milton to play more for some reason even though it’s clear on the field that Cade is a baller.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:25 AM ^
Donny, you’re out of your element!
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:25 AM ^
Henson was as blue chip as they come. Way more hype than Milton. Cade wears #12 now and Brady wears #12 in the NFL. I guess that's a shade.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:26 AM ^
No - Milton is not close to Henson. No idea what they are seeing in practice to play Milton over McNamara.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:27 AM ^
Henson>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Milton
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:28 AM ^
Henson was a very good college QB given his experience. The NFL gave him a chance after not playing for a couple years.
This here is BS favoritism, Cade better get first team reps.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:28 AM ^
Not at all
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:29 AM ^
Might as well just ask this here - in what universe are Milton and McNamara in any way even playing the same position? One is accurate, decisive and goes through reads and one doesn’t seem to have a clue. Damning indictment on this coaching staff.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:29 AM ^
No.
Brady should have been the starter his whole senior season. Lloyd was too afraid Henson would jump ship so kept playing him. Cost us one, maybe two games.
November 22nd, 2020 at 8:03 AM ^
Brady started every game.
November 22nd, 2020 at 11:56 AM ^
Yes, you're right, it was the stupid platooning I am remembering.
But it was still stupid.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:30 AM ^
you got about half right. Drew Henson was an incredible athlete.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:30 AM ^
Keep in mind if Henson had stuck with football instead of Steinbrenner, he would have been a first round pick, possibly a very early first rounder.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:30 AM ^
I hate this site

November 22nd, 2020 at 12:32 AM ^
On a more serious note I'm just gonna assume you never watched Brady or Henson actually play football.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:30 AM ^
Henson was really good, not Brady level good, but don’t ever compare him to third year Milton. By his third year, Henson was beating Ohio State.
November 22nd, 2020 at 8:13 AM ^
*In Columbus.
For the last time. Probably ever.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:30 AM ^
That’s crazy. A lot of people may disagree with this, but I was literally texting my dad about this during the game tonight.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:31 AM ^
yep, the only difference is we don't have Lloyd Carr to mess it up. .
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:32 AM ^
People are using words like cerebral, competitor, moxie, "it" factor to talk about Cade. I find this a bit annoying.
He's so much better than Milton because he's way more accurate, has a quicker release, has way better timing, makes better decisions, can change his arm slot/release points when hands are in his face, better footwork, etc, etc.
In short, he's getting it done because he's a way more SKILLED QB. Competitiveness or anything cerebral is like 1% of it.
Also, he doesn't have Milton's arm cannon but he has enough arm strength. He can be a Drew Brees type player (stylistically--not saying he'll be a HOFer).
November 22nd, 2020 at 1:09 AM ^
Cade makes much faster decisions. That's way more important than any other skill Milton might have.
November 23rd, 2020 at 3:01 PM ^
Maybe he's the 2021 September Heisman winner.
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:34 AM ^
So let’s set the record straight on this. Brady was good. But he started the 98 season with absolute debacles vs Syracuse and ND. He lost vs OSU (Warm day 70 degrees I was there) Henson had some Milton qualities where he would make an amazing throw followed by a bad throw. But he was a freshman. Lloyd was torn and played both of them. For all the stuff Lloyd did, that wasn’t a bad strategy. I liked Henson, but until his junior year, he was just so inconsistent. Brady was the steadier hand and it made sense to play him, McNamara’s production is so far ahead of Milton, it’s no contest. Got to go with McNamara,
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:34 AM ^
More like Nick Sheridan vs. Steven Threet
November 22nd, 2020 at 1:13 AM ^
Very under appreciated comment right here.
November 22nd, 2020 at 10:21 AM ^
Speaking of, wonder what Threet is up to these days and if he wants to call some offense?
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:36 AM ^
ehh.. only in the sense that there now appears to be some QB controversy. The actual dynamic between the two situations are almost polar opposite
Henson/Brady: experienced game managing quarterback (Brady) shares snaps with all-American Freshman (Henson) quarterback due to potential
Milton/McNamara: older player loses snaps / starting job to younger player who runs the offense more efficiently
November 22nd, 2020 at 12:11 PM ^
There is no controversy (or shouldn't be, anyway).
