Mikey S's Play - "The Swat" - in Three Pictures
ok, I am bored. No football! (well, not this kind of football)
So I watched the Game, again, and isolated some pics of "The Swat" - you know, the one where Mike Sainristil breaks up a TD?
One fun part is how the crowd and OSU players react: the whole stadium thought it was going to be a touchdown.
Here is one angle on that, where the OSU players in the background are raising their arms to signal TD:
Here is another where you can see one guy's reaction as the ball is knocked away. In the live action, you can see that whole side of the stadium start to raise their arms in anticipation... how sweet to see those hopes crushed:
Finally, in this cut, you see two randos with a look of pain. They are right there, and they witnessed "The Swat" up close and personal:
Man, what a play. And how awesome to see an entire stadium go from near-bonkers to deflated.

Mikey's Swat is in the same superb group as The Josh Ross TFL on 11/27/2021.
Let's call it The Stuff?
👍👍

The Stuff and the Swat.
The 2021 and 2022 turning points in The Game.
You can't have one without the other.

A historically great defensive play in a critical moment of The Game. I thought it was a TD for sure.

He has some crazy hops. I noticed that at the beginning of a game this year when the players were touching the banner. He was up there past players much taller than he.

They replayed this later in the year--maybe before The Game. It was noteworthy.

Awesome job on the cut ups! That was fun to examine. One of the very best plays of the game to be sure!

He knocked the ball out of those velvety soft hands...

The branded gloves to draw the eye on the team name are cool in such moments and like Amon St.-Ra's shoes are an intriguing draw.

Given the stakes of the game at that moment and the stakes of the season for both teams, and how the play on the ball was completely clean, I think it stands as one of the best defensive plays in Michigan football history. Call me over-dramatic but I will stand by that.

Just great to every one in awhile see a PERFECT CB play on a pass. A 10/10.
One where even when the offense wants needs that catch so damned much, there is just no way that it is PI, even to the biggest of homers. And even now, haven't read a single buckeye suggesting it was Pass Interference.
Perfectly defended in every sense.

Videography has come such a long way over the last 25 years with both, obviously the video, but also still captures. Would that we had the same quality photographs of a certain one handed INT in East Lansing.
Great play, and a game defining one, by Sainristil, maybe one day he will be held with the same reverence as Charles Woodson.

Given how he played in previous games, I thought their TE was going to be a big match up problem for UM. But like just about every other OSU player, the moment was too big for him and basically turtled.
