Michigan vs. Kansas State mens bball NIT season tipoff final open thread
Timmy is going off.
Moeller v. Excalibur Restaurant -- Fight!
our best player so far this year
But what's up with Trey, he's not tearing it up like I'd like to see
calling these games.
"I'm not a vegetarian b/c I love animals. I'm a vegetarian b/c I hate plants"
How large is Doris's Adam's apple?
When I think we scored on ourselves.
"I love him, he's a great coach, he's a great mentor, he's a great friend. He's every single thing you want a college coach to be, and he does it flawlessly." -David Molk
I hate to keep ragging on this point; but Vogrich is a complete liability on both ends of the court.
Exactly what are you talking about?

He's completely out-matched physically. I've seen guys just reach over his head to grab rebounds at lease ten times in the last two games. It would be one thing if he was hitting a shot every now and again, but he's 36 percent from the floor. Why would you have him in there versus Stauskas or anyone else for that matter?
The only times guys have "reached over his head" is when he has rotated to pick up someone's man defensively, which he has done very well. His on-the-ball defending has been solid, he hasn't given up anything.
Vogrich's freshmen year I really disliked him, but ever since the 2011 NCAA Tennessee game I've come to see some of his strengths. He has really grown defensively, specifically as a team defender.
Plus, he can hit any three that Stauskas can.
CoE Class of 2007
I gotta disagree. The plays I'm referring to he was blocking guys out and they just straight-up jumped over him.
And he's pretty obviously not the shooter Nik is. 36% from the floor and awful from 3 this year. I will give you that he's probably a better position defender than Nik at this point.
If Nik is in the starting line up, where is he getting shots? Is he getting Hardaway's? Burke's? GRIII's? Off te bench he provides scoring in the second unit. Starting he's just crowding better players.

Very good point. But at what point do you just want your best five guys on the floor?
Where I think you'll find Nik in a whole lot more. It's not who starts but who finishes.

Vogrich is not was Stauskus is on the O side, but Stauskus is not a step up over Vogrich on D. That is why Vogrich is playing. Stauskus needs more experience, and with that will come a decreased role for Vogrich
Vogrich being Gritty McGritstein.

We should be killing this team. Can't let them hang around.
cheat, cheat, and cheat some more, and when you get caught, do the right thing, lie!
Where can I get a "we on" t shirt.
Greetings from Bolivia.
"It's special how the real true people hang together. And if you don't support the program you're not a true Michigan guy. It's that simple." - Gary Moeller
Played too many kids in this first half
Reporter: “Did you visit the Parthenon while in Greece?”
Shaquille O’Neill: “I can’t really remember the names of all the clubs we went to.”
We're underachieving but winning. If we can start executing in the second half, I like where we're headed. If not, this one goes to the buzzer.
Moeller v. Excalibur Restaurant -- Fight!
why Trey is sitting firmly on the bench? Is this a teaching moment?
Seems odd that Beilein has experimented with line-ups so much in a champsionship game. Makes me think he is trying to prove a point.
"You have enemies? Good. That means you've stood up for something, sometime in your life." - Winston Churchill
I don't know if we can 'kill' this team, but I think if we keep up the hard work we will have a great chance of winning. Once Trey Burke settles down and teh team begins to make some 3-pt shoots (which is so far lacking today), we will win.
Where we actually use a big lineup?
I do it for my love of the Streets
Doris Burke has got to be one of the worst announcers I've ever heard. Some of the things and questions she asks makes her seem absolutely clueless...
I disagree. I think she's doing fine. I think it's funny that everyone's ragging on her. Very telling?
Most of the complaints I've seen summarized: "She's a woman!"
Moeller v. Excalibur Restaurant -- Fight!
Agreed, I think she's doing well and she seems to be putting in timely commentary. I have heard MUCH worse.
Chaos is found in greatest abundance wherever order is being sought. It always defeats order because it is better organized.
Really need to work on consistency. When we're on, we're dang near unstoppable. When we're running around without a plan, we get ourselves in trouble and give up easy baskets. So much potential on this team, hope we get to see it realized.
Like last game I disagree with almost every comment. I'll take a coaches perspective like Dakich over useless rah rah like Vitale any day. The rumor that Vogrich is defending is greatly exaggerated. Coach is making a point, earn your spot with defense Stauskas. It has nothing to do with who is defending better now it is to get Stauskas ready down the road. And those thinking we were going to blow out a team that is gritty and a nightmare on the boards, perhaps you should look to the Pitt game. This game was destined to be tough. We may get hot and pull away but K-state won't go away on their own.
Having Stauskas come in off the bench is more important than having him in the starting lineup. I like the fact that we can put a highly skilled guy in around the same time an opposing team might be taking one off the court.

I'm glad you know exactly what the coaching staff is thinking.
Can you let us know what Beilein's 1-3-1 strategy is as well? /s
It definitely has to do with who is defending better right now. If not, why was Stauskas subbed out for defensive possessions and in for offensive possessions at the end of the last game?
CoE Class of 2007

I thought that at first, but rethinking it in context it a not that bad. considering henrique has yet to pass out of the block all season, the black hole reference is fitting.
Go Blue!
Beat Ohio!
The Michigan Difference. Oh yea, it is real.
