Good of him to do this and dispell all the rumors
December 17th, 2021 at 9:49 AM ^
Last I looked Rowser hasn't signed with Arkansas, so maybe his outburst was geared toward them.
December 17th, 2021 at 3:33 PM ^
That thread was full of insufferable nattering nabobs of negativism
December 17th, 2021 at 8:37 AM ^
This coach seems to like attention.
December 17th, 2021 at 8:39 AM ^
Really dude? This is what you get from this?
December 17th, 2021 at 8:41 AM ^
You seriously think he didn't know the reaction he would get from his original tweet given the history?
December 17th, 2021 at 8:50 AM ^
Why not? You have no idea what is going on behind the scenes, what stuff prompts a subtweet. That’s why it’s a subtweet.
There’s probably a player of his that’s hurt, that got treated badly. He cares about his players, he saw what happened, he fired off a tweet about it.
It got traction with Michigan folks, and so he clears it up.
Not everything is about us.
December 17th, 2021 at 9:40 AM ^
Or he could have addressed it with the coach that did it but I guess that wouldn't have got every local sports talk show asking why Harbaugh treats recruits so poorly. I see your point. This is more effective.
December 17th, 2021 at 9:49 AM ^
Far be it from a bunch of guys that post stream-of-conscience thoughts on a message board and occasionally say dumb stuff (and we ALL say dumb stuff) to give a little space to a guy who cares about his players to do the same on Twitter and fix it when it gets misconstrued.
December 17th, 2021 at 10:00 AM ^
Nobody cares what we think. Michigan coaches can give life changing scholarship offers to his kids. He should be more careful about what he says publicly because of the position he is in.
December 17th, 2021 at 10:27 AM ^
I'm sure the Michigan coaches know way more than us, and they weren't offended, because they actually know why the kid decomitted
December 17th, 2021 at 10:46 AM ^
That still doesn't change the fact that his (intentionally?)vague tweets kicked up an unwarranted media storm regarding Harbaugh's treating of recruits. Now, A LOT of that is on the shitty local media as well, but methinks this guy likes the attention it drums up.
December 17th, 2021 at 1:29 PM ^
Stop being an ass 96 - unless your goal is neg harvesting?
Yes, Michigan can offer "life changing scholarships" to HS players - but so can 10, 20, 50 other coaching staffs!
I'm glad Michigan is back in good with State Champ Belleville. Good for Michigan, good for Belleville players. Where's the downside to that you're perceiving?
December 17th, 2021 at 8:56 AM ^
Pretty sure the "original tweet" was from Alexander, not Crowell.
December 17th, 2021 at 8:58 AM ^
And here's "GoBlue96" with his balls in an uproar about how some coach in Belleville was misconstrued at 8:41 of a Friday.
This kind of speculation about what motivates the decisions of 18-year-olds is some of the most unproductive and--too often--vicious phenomena of the internet. There aren't enough mods in the world to police it, but you'd love it if people acknowledged they're not in possession, often, of the tiniest share of the variables and find something else to do with their time? Do you really want to be seething at some high school coach here on the cusp of your day?
Forgive me; I shouldn't be here, either. But the maintenance of productive relations with local high schools is a thing. Looks like we are good here.
December 17th, 2021 at 10:09 AM ^
mostly +1 for "with his balls in an uproar", but also for general sentiment.
December 17th, 2021 at 9:08 AM ^
I always think everything through 100% before acting.
December 17th, 2021 at 8:41 AM ^
u ain't wrong.
December 17th, 2021 at 8:41 AM ^
By shutting down a misunderstanding that was running rampant here and online?
December 17th, 2021 at 9:40 AM ^
because of these two tweets, not specifically ... but if you pay attention, he does like his attention.
December 17th, 2021 at 9:59 AM ^
even if he does, so what? We all know how much negative recruiting goes on, for Crowell to come out and clarify UM's staff has been great and this is not related to them is indeed an important note. Good on JC.
December 17th, 2021 at 8:48 AM ^
Former NFL wide receiver right? Are we really surprised he's a diva?
December 17th, 2021 at 9:03 AM ^
I believe that’s Germane Crowell?
December 17th, 2021 at 9:05 AM ^
that was Germain Crowell.... this is Jermaine Crowell
December 17th, 2021 at 9:07 AM ^
Highly germane to the discussion
December 17th, 2021 at 9:22 AM ^
You say Germain I say Jermaine, Germain, Jermaine......
December 17th, 2021 at 9:45 AM ^
Hey . . . let's call the whole thing off.
December 17th, 2021 at 12:43 PM ^
+1 : Teamwork!
December 17th, 2021 at 10:02 AM ^
Pretty sure it's Jemaine.
December 17th, 2021 at 1:13 PM ^
Murray was such an amazing character. The show was solid but Murray was gold.
December 17th, 2021 at 1:31 PM ^
Murray... present.
December 17th, 2021 at 8:38 AM ^
That's good to know, don't want to burn bridges especially in state
December 17th, 2021 at 9:50 AM ^
Yes, burning couches is a much better option.
December 17th, 2021 at 8:38 AM ^
Wow, that is really cool of him to make this statement. I saw that Rowser never sent his LOI in either.
December 17th, 2021 at 8:38 AM ^
Good to know.
December 17th, 2021 at 8:42 AM ^
The whole world of recruiting is so bizarre, complex, and shady sometimes. My eldest son is just trying to pick a college to go to and it is overwhelming - even without football coaches, handlers, NIL, agents, advisors, etc. I wonder what's happening behind the scenes there and what prompted his previous message about "fake offers." Could have been unrelated to Alexander, could have been in reference to a different school that was "offering" to try and get him away from Michigan....could have been anything.
Glad he took the time to send the message - he didn't have to do that. Good luck to the young man in whatever he decides to do for college.
December 17th, 2021 at 8:48 AM ^
Honestly, I'm floored by this. Kudos to both staffs for not only burying the hatchet but completely changing the trajectory of the relationship, because there is a 0% chance Crowell comes out and dispels those rumors if this happened a year ago.
Hope that AA catches on somewhere and makes a name for himself. Sounds like this could be a win-win-win situation if he can make it happen.
December 17th, 2021 at 8:59 AM ^
Somewhat amazing (but not surprising) to go back and read all of the speculation and rush to judgments in the Exit AA thread. All from one cryptic tweet.
December 17th, 2021 at 9:56 AM ^
Some people never grow out of high school. They all have Twitter accounts.
December 17th, 2021 at 9:05 AM ^
Reading between the lines, I suspect that Aaron Alexander either had a clearly conditional offer* or realized he would have some sort of issue with admissions.
*Michigan may have told Alexander his scholarship depended on the decisions of other prospects and told him that he could commit only if he was comfortable with that uncertainty. As long as Michigan remained transparent about the status of his scholarship, I see nothing wrong with this arrangement. And both Alexander and his coach seem to agree with my assessment.
December 17th, 2021 at 9:06 AM ^
Good thing everyone jumped to conclusions with no evidence.
December 17th, 2021 at 9:23 AM ^
Hi, I'm the Internet. Have we met?
December 17th, 2021 at 9:06 AM ^
This is why you never jump to conclusions. I bet a handful of "fans" messaged him and the kid with negative messages.
December 17th, 2021 at 9:55 AM ^
Well it sure as hell wasn’t me lol. I don’t have tiwitter, tik tak or snap talk and never understood the draw of oohing and ahhing over 17-18 yr old recruits. I raised 3 kids and know from personal experience that life is in the moment. I did the whole colllege recruiting for baseball thing and my son changed his mind more than he brushed his teeth. Coaches were also snakes, not all but some. The biggest dick we dealt with wound up being the most honest which is where he eventually pitched.
December 17th, 2021 at 9:07 AM ^
I am tired of us having to continually run this program. Can't the university hire people to do this. We could call them AD's, Coaches, or Fixers but we have important things to worry about here like the wording on Corum's shirt.
December 17th, 2021 at 9:40 AM ^
Hey, if we weren't on this forum to run the program no one would be here.
