There was a comment on a message board about some incident that Pruitt was involved in at Alabama. The person felt that Pruitt wouldn't return to Alabama because of what happen. I'm not sure if it was some type academic scandal or what. I guess it's not carrying any weight because I haven't heard much else about it.

Georgia was 5th in the country in total defense.  200 yards behind Michigan.

Georgia was 9th in scoring defense this year as well.  Michigan was 11th.

Last year (Pruitt's first) UGA was 25th in scoring defense (Michigan 28) and 16th in total defense (UM 10).

The last two years they kept the Malzahn offense to 20 points total. Held Clemson to 21 last year (didn't play this year) held the triple option of GT to 7 this year (30 in OT last year)

Year (Team) - S&P Defense (Rush, Pass) / FEI Defense by Year:

2013 (FSU) - #1 (#4,#4) / #5

2014 (UGa) - #17 (#65,#7) / #35

2015 (UGa) - #11 (#23,#23) / #16

For comparison, this year Michigan was #2 (#28,#11) / #20.

I read off of Rivals that Pruitt is 'very interested' and if Harbaugh and Pruitt actually meet he'll take it very seriously. Seems like there is more to this than just a 'negotiating' ploy.

This would be a good hire. That Florida State defense in 2013 was monstrous. Only allowed >17 points in 1(!) game before the national championship. Held 7 teams to single digits. Can't think of a better defense since.
That being said, they didn't play many spread teams.

Nobody is talking about it, but Jacksonville essentially paid Fisch's salary this year - minus the $230k that UM gave him.

So he will either get a big raise or a better job offer somewhere else.

This is also a spot that could open up.  And JH can handle the passing coordinator role, if Fisch leaves.

to pad his resumé.

1) He would have a returning D that was one of the best in the country and loosing very little.

2) He would be out of the shadow of Saban, so he can prove his personal value and not be a plug and play OC like Kiffin.

3) He can establish his recruiting footprint to the mid-west.

So what if he costs an additional $800k. It would be worth it for the recruits he brings in. [a back door way of buying top recruits  ;o) ]

And additional revenue from a bigger bowl game would probably cover the difference (even when split up among the B1G teams)

Even if it's for 1 year, it could only help UM to take the next step, while leaving some good recruits in his wake.

After the OSU brain freeze (& 2nd half of the season), the continuity argument looses a lot of weight.

Lots of smoke about Pruitt to Alabama being done. Also a little obviously contradictory rumorage from GA sources saying it's more likely to be Michigan. Just the messenger.
