Michigan Illinois game thread

This game on a Friday night feels so different than last year. Has football beating OSU lessoned our interest in the BBall team this year? Lessoned the pain?  Hunter is out, Brandon is out. How are you feeling?  And what are you drinking tonight?  Go Blue!  Pama liquor...a quality mixer. Go Blue!!

For those downvoters, look at the scholarship situation and tell me what you see different? Well, next year down low we would have Diabate and Reed. We currently are one over on scholarships with the expectation of Hunter opening that up. I’m ok with being downvoted when I say something off but explain where I’m wrong here?

They actually played way better in this one. It looks to me like this team doesn't know how to play through a center. When they played with Dickinson, they were such a discombobulated mess on both ends. If they can figure that out and shoot the ball from three somehow, maybe there's hope.

Edit: and there's a strength issue. This team has missed enough point-blank shots to fill two seasons for most teams. A lot of them just kind of weakly flutter off the rim. Strength can be grown. This is a 'just wait until next season' team.

Howard's rotations have been bad since he got here, and they're still bad. Whether it's the amount of minutes people are playing or who is playing on the floor together, it's always been weird.

This year is a learning year for everyone but Eli & Hunter. Lots of hustle out there, but I agree the substitution patterns are still baffling. DJ looks better and better, Eli trying to do too much, Moussa should be iso on offense, get TWill moving downhill with lots of physicality, Kobe & Frankie need more run, Caleb needs less pressure & play the 4 (defenders are slower). Great effort, Go Blue.

Since I don't pay much attention to who's saying what I don't know if the same people who love coaches/teams pivot to having contempt for them or if the takes are coming from people who are always hateful but bite their tongues until the first opportunity arises.

You're going to spam the riot take, huh? Is that your finishing move? How shockingly racial & in character for you. I'll paste this from a previous comment scumbag:

The team & the university is clearly alright with the BLM patch, exactly how it is, regardless of your personal opinion.

The players on the team are humans too, with the right to have opinions too, even if they don't match up with yours or mine. Grow a pair & move on *SNOWFLAKE*.

It takes a real genius to point out that basketball players are human too. And that they are allowed to have opinions…

They do have the right to put the BLM on their jersey. The university  is of course within their rights to endorse Marxist causes, which is not new.

However, the university doesn’t have a right to my money. The team doesn’t have a right to my cheering or clapping. And they don’t have a right to stop me from voicing my displeasure with any of it. I have emotionally already moved on from the team. They stink at basketball and politics. I’m looking forward to the day when they take those patches off.

Saying that black lives matter too is Marxist? What a fucking shit take. Go yell at clouds somewhere. It's great that you've moved on from the team, they truly do not need you. With Martin Luther King Jr. Day in a couple days I'm sure you'll share a quote of his taken out of context along with some tone deaf version of '"why can't we all get along", the complete irony being you'd be 100% opposed to him, the rabble-rouser he was and all.

While you're taking a break from the team you can use your newly found free time to learn what communism is and not ignorantly throw the word around like a fucking moron and stop posting some variation of "everything I disagree with is communism".

Seems simplistic, but there is a gaping hole at the 3/4 spot...(caveat - Diabate seems like a 5 to me). This offense goes nowhere without someone being able to shoot the ball from the forward position

I get people being down on Houstan - kid was supposed to be a 5* all world shooter that has been spoon fed playing time and has looked totally out of his element. Missing on open 3s at this point of the season is alarming imo.

That said, guys like Jace, TWill, BJJ have been really, really underwhelming if not outright bad...These are upperclassmen and should be carrying the team more.

Not sure where the team goes now, but the NCAA tournament is pretty much gone barring a massive upset or two..
