Per Adam rittenberg on twitter. He’s worked with Saban, fisher, smart, and richt.

What do you mean by “allow that to happen”? What exactly are they supposed to do to not “allow” it to happen? The guy is no longer employed at UofM. Seems like it’s been addressed to me.

He didn’t report to the team and by that time, it was too late to find a real replacement. Not sure how any of that falls on Brown or Harbaugh.

And? What does that have to do with anything? because we didn’t take him off the coaches page means it wasn’t handled?

Brown was listed on the directory for weeks after he was reportedly let go. We’re now hiring a new safeties coach, meaning Shoop isn’t coming back. Meaning that it was handled.

So what is the complaint here?

Finding a replacement as the season is starting in the middle of a pandemic? No, you really can’t find a replacement. You’re better off having a grad assistant just coach the position in practices... which is what they did.

No safeties coach is going to leave their team in August/September. And it’s not like it’s an ideal time to do a coaching search either.

It has to be one of two things.  That he wanted to opt out due to covid, or, that he didn't jive at all with brown.  What's interesting is that he had a lawsuit with PSU after leaving early and then sued them.

Looks like he coached safeties at colorado state. I'm liking the new additions being younger. Hoping he can recruit!

Went to Ole Miss, don't see anything else about him to know if he's recruited before.

Helow (pronounced He-LOW), has previously been a part of two National Championship teams and has worked under some of the most respected minds in college football.  His coaching career started at the University of Alabama under head coach Nick Saban.  Helow has also worked under Kirby Smart, Jimbo Fisher, Mark Richt, Jeremy Pruitt, and Mike Bobo.

Helow has held stints at some of the nation's premiere collegiate programs during his coaching career, including the University of Alabama, Florida State University and the University of Georgia.  In 2013, Helow helped lead Florida State to a national title as a defensive graduate assistant under Jimbo Fisher.  He then spent two seasons as a defensive graduate assistant at the University of Georgia in 2014 and 2015 where he coached the safeties and worked closely with Jeremy Pruitt.

In 2012, Helow earned his first collegiate coaching job under Nick Saban at Alabama.  Initially, Helow was an intern in the weight room that spring and summer, and then served under Defensive Coordinator Kirby Smart as a defensive intern in the fall.  The Crimson Tide defeated Notre Dame in the BCS National Championship game and during the season allowed just 10.9 points per game.

Get him immediately on the phone with Daxton Hill and make sure that he stays.

Also this coaching staff is going to be YOUNG.

And Tim Banks is probably out as a candidate on the staff considering he also coaches safeties at PSU.

Like that he worked under Saban, who coaches DB technique probably better than anyone.  Specifically, looking back for the ball at the proper time.  This could lead to more PBUs and INTs.

It is odd that his 247 page lists him with zero commits across his years at Colorado State and Maryland.

I was hoping we were going to unleash the money cannon this off season, but that is not happening.

This defensive staff is going to be insanely young.  It's likely also going to be inexperienced, but if the goal is to try something new I'd rather UM go this way after Brown than try to drag some 50-something former HC to be a DC for a year.

Like, I'm not insanely optimistic the defense will return to the top-15 outfit it was under Brown before last year but this is the type of big swing that UM usually wouldn't have taken.  And I honestly wasn't that optimistic about a 1-year flyer on guys like Muschamp or Mason would give you a higher ceiling than any of these guys.  I think people are going to be amazed at the impact a full offseason and not having a half-dozen starters miss games during a 6-game season will have on the team's defense.
