Michigan could have 2 night games in 2017, including MSU
This was a disturbing quote.

“It’s still a concern,” Manuel said. “The only difference is, the Big Ten and television can assign us to a primetime game and it’s not our option. In November, we have the option if we choose to do so. I don’t anticipate that choice being made.”
“It comes out in terms of we agreed to it several years ago as a part of negotiating the new Big Ten television contract that we would allow up to two games at night,” Manuel said. “Last year for this (2016) football season, we had the option. Next year and moving forward the Big Ten can assign us and television in the Big Ten. In the month of September and October.”
Nice to know millionaire TV execs get to choose our game times now, and not the actual school playing in the game.
Rotten. Absolutely rotten.
Here's the potential night game options if they so choose to give us 2 night games-
- 9/9 vs Cincinnati
- 9/16 vs Air Force
- 10/7 vs MSU
- 10/28 vs Rutgers
Gee, I wonder which one it'll be.
Michigan-msu has never been played at night. And for good reason. Because either city will be a drunken war zone.
Enemy at the Gate.
Please let this happen ! I would even trade a 3:30 game for the dreaded 12 if it meant we get a night game !
And yes I agree with WD. It is very concerning that Manuel does not recognize the benefits of a night game.
It's not Warde's fault. This is the B1G's deal. He doesn't even like night games.
That's Gucci's point!! Warde doesn't understand the benefit - and joy - of night games. I don't like that TV can assign them, becuase that means we'll get MSU every year as a night game. And Warde won't ever schedule one of the Nov games.

It won't be a night game.
Um, you're not thinking this through. The UM-MSU game cannot be at night because a substantial proportion of the MSU team cannot be out past dark, as a condition of their parole...
EDIT: I should have scrolled down. I see that 10 others made a version of this joke. Please disregard this version...
There will be MSU players whose ankle monitors don't allow them to leave Ingham county.
3-9 of them?
I'm guessing more like 39 from what I've been hearing.
....I like night games. My best memory was our miracle comeback at night against Notre Dame.
WD will not sleep tonight.
This will keep him up to at least 9:30.
....and the drunk band members.

What if it was?
wait, so we would get a primetime game...on BTN?
SHART.
If we play a home game at night it better be on ABC or ESPN not some second rate network that 16% of the country gets.
Remember, Fox is part of this new deal.
So now we'll have games on Fox and FS1 sometimes.
And looking at the slate of games that weekend, I would assume a Michigan MSU 7pm kick would get the Fox broadcast.
LSU/Florida
Stanford/Utah
Wisconsin/Nebraska
Alabama/Texas A&M
Wisconsin/Nebraska could be the competition, but will probably get the 3:30 ABC slot. One of those SEC games will be CBS at 3:30 and one will be ESPN. Stanford/Utah will depend on records but could be 10pm kick on FS1, ESPN, or Fox after our game.
who are we kidding, the networks aren't going to put an 0-5 MSU team on national television.
I love night games. Bring on Sparty.
Only game that I really care about what time we play is The Game.
I know it's easy to get angry at the "millionaire TV execs", but the B1G payout is going to be close to $50 million a school this year. To me this seems like a battle to skip, unlike the Friday night games. Plus the majority of fans love night games.
Even as stubborn as Bo was, I have a hard time believing he would pass up $50 mil a year for the school he loved just to kickoff at 1 o'clock.
Then play Michigan-msu at 3:30.
Don't subject the city to that drunkfest. There's been spraypaint on sidewalks in past years for 3:30 games.
Drunk fans with spray paint are just job security for Ann Arbor city workers
People will be drunk at 8PM anyways. Only difference is they would be in a stadium and not on Main St. instead.
NOOO!!! My pearls??!!?? Where are my pearls? I must clutch them!!!!
Great news! If we play them on the road, might as well get the advantage at home. Also, they are super fun.
God forbid we use the lights we built in our stadium, and God forbid our humiliation of our newly weak nemesis is broadcast in primetime for the world to see.
How ever will we manage?
