Michigan baseball vs. Iowa open thread

Game starts at 6 pm on BTN. Nebraska and Ohio are the first teams eliminated lol. Would be a major win as it would put us in the drivers seat for the big ten championship game.

Not related but now that Hoke is gone can this whole Ohio thing stop? I wasn't a fan even when he was around, but I feel like it's time for it to end.

This round is the key game of the tournament.

Lose tonight, and Michigan will have to win 3 games in 2 days just to make Sunday's final.  Win tonight, and Michigan will get Friday off and then have 2 chances to advance to the final.

I was watching a BTN special on Jesse Owens and their track uniforms used to say Ohio. Also they play in Ohio Stadium with script Ohio and they run out to four flags that spell Ohio. Also it pisses them off to call them that for some reason. One of the few things BH did right besides this is Michigan.

Any radio links? Thanks in advance. As a side not Michigan just has absolutely pathetic coverage of non-revenue sports. I can listen to every Maryland baseball game on a student radio network, Indiana baseball had a legit radio station covering it. Take some of the money the ad has and create a student radio station that broadcasts non revenue sports, how hard is that?

What?! Every home Softball game has been televised this year on BTN or BTN Plus save the last weekend of the regular season since the BTN Student U team had graduation.

WCBN does audio for Soccer, Baseball and Softball games.

I'm talking about outside of btn coverage. What Michigan is doing on it's own. I'm trying to figure out why I had to listen to an Indiana radio feed while at work yesterday and would have to pay for an Iowa radio feed today in order to listen to Michigan playing in the big ten tourney.

Kendall Patrick with an RBI double, scoring Johnny Slater and it's 2-1 Michigan with two outs!

There's a link to the Gametracker on MGoBlue's main page, and a  link up at the top of the Gametracker to Iowa audio.  If you pay the $9.95/month for the CBS-powered "premium" stuff (now called "College Sports Live") via Michigan, you can sign in with your Michigan membership info.

I was going to drop it since there was less and less premium stuff available, with what was formerly premium seems to have moved to BTNPlus (also $9.95).  I'll avoid my anti-corporate rant, because I can listen to the game.

Sac fly and Bruder literally runs over Iowa's catcher to give Michigan a 6-1 lead!

The BTN announcer needs to STFU. You can't just stand in front of home plate without the ball you f'ing asshole. You can stop talking any time now.

Catcher moved late and baserunner tried to go outside of him. The BTN guy is wrong anyway. Baserunner is malicious or intentional w contact, umpire can call him out.

The BTN color guy is a former Iowa player, so what do you expect?

Suck it, BTN.

Oh my god this announcer is ridiculous. The pitch in question was very low which is why the Michigan batter started running to first. Then they show an axial view of the ball being over the plate and then the Iowa homer announcer says, yep, over the inside corner, good pitch. wow.

Iowa scored 3 runs in the 6th but Michigan quickly responds with a sac fly by Kendall Patrick, scoring Maezes.

It's 7-4 Michigan, headed to the bottom of the 7th.

This Iowa homer announcer is having himself quite a game. First he tells the audience that a the catcher is allowed to stand right in front of home plate without the ball and that if the runner runs into him then he should be out.

This last one was amazing. The Michigan batter hit first base exactly when the first baseman caught the ball. The runner was rightfully called safe. But that didn't stop this idiot from saying this on the play:

"Growing up you always hear tie goes to the runner. That’s not the rule. The rule is that the ball has to beat the runner, or the runner has to beat the ball. In order for him to be safe. I don’t know about that one."

Just wow.

BALLGAME!! Michigan upsets #19 Iowa 8-5 to advance to the B1G Tournament Semifinals on Saturday!

Sort of confusing unless you have the bracket in front of you.

Michigan is in bracket 1. The winner of the Iowa-Indiana elimination game moves into bracket 2 and plays the winner of tonight's Illinois-Maryland bracket 2 quarterfinal.

Michigan will play the winner of the bracket 2 elimination game which will most likely be MSU or Maryland since Illinois has won 27 straight games.

Michigan just needs to win once on Saturday to advance to the championship. However, their opponent would have to beat Michigan twice to advance to the B1G Tournament Championship on Sunday.

Michigan doesn't have to play tomorrow. Perks of winning. Elimination games are played tomorrow.

So here are the group finals for Saturday:

#4 Maryland vs (#2 Iowa-#6 Indiana winner), 10 am & (if necessary) 6 pm.

#3 Michigan vs (#1 Illinois-#5 Michigan State winner), 2 pm & (if necessary) 10 pm.

So Michigan has 2 chances to beat the Illinois-MSU winner and advance to the 1-game championship, which will be 2 pm on Sunday.

Looking forward to being at Target Field Saturday for the game, likely vs. Illinois.  Big game for the boys.  Hopefully some Michigan fans will be there with me!!
