Just how it is supposed to be.
"I NEED A SUPERVISOR"
I'm counting 30-13-3 in that chart.
Oh crap, I counted the cancelled baseball game that we would've won anyways. Here is the accurate graphic.
don't we keep crushing them in M gymnastics, too?
Undefeated vs MSU in M Gymnastics since 2001.
(they dropped their program)
Low hanging fruit.
remember that cup thing M and MSU would play for in the mid-aughts that was counting the head to head results for all sports fall, winter, spring seasons?
As I recall M won that every season, kept the cup the whole 6-7 years it existed. MSU might have tied 2-3 times, but the previous winner would retain the trophy.
Based on their record against us, either their athletics are in really bad shape or ours are in really good shape. Maybe both? I know wrestling, hockey and baseball suck for them (though hockey is getting back to respectable), but I don't know much about their non-revenue sports other than those.
I think it’s always just been that way. We have always dominated the non-revenue sports.
MSU is in a tough spot. If you're good enough to run track at MSU, just for instance, you're probably good enough to run track somewhere that's not a rape enabling shithole. It's hard for me to understand why someone with options would choose that school over another similar place.
MSU is a golf school.
It’s a rape, basketball, and golf school - in that order.
Its pretty lame that UM doesn’t have a better golf program than MSU. Warde should replace that coach if that’s how it’s going to be.
Pontiac Challenge Cup I believe is what it was called
*waves tiny flag*
Fire Beilein!
We missed our chance.
Come on golf let's pick it up
Up until just a couple years ago with the opening of their new Athletics offices (across Harrison from the Breslin Center) it was very common for coaches of many sports to share desks and even offices in Jenison Fieldhouse. Space was severely limited with only Football, basketball having their own dedicated spaces (maybe hockey) and their own offices away from Breslin.
Budget wise, MSU athletics is football, basketball, hockey and then a steep steep drop to baseball, soccer etc.
Facilities after football, basketball are meh. Munn still holds up but is way overdue for renovation/expansion. Wrestling and Swimming are pretty atrocious by todays Big 10 standards. Jenison is a bottom indoor track facility and the volleyball team actually plays and practices there. They've put good money (from donors) into baseball, softball and soccer. But not much else. The fact they nearly completely rely on donors for any improvements to facilities says a lot.
.
It's hard to renovate anything when you have to pay millions for all the rape and sexual assault cases that you are covering up.
This is just more evidence that Beilein was a terrible coach and was politely asked to find a new jobs. He did not willingly go to Cleveland as we were led to believe, we all know that would never actually happen.
This post makes no sense
Quit drinking and go to bed.
For whatever reason, I assumed we had a top golf program.
The practice facility is sort of rinky dink in comparison to other schools. UM golf course was recently ranked #3 in the nation by someone which is sort of surprising, I'd put it behind OSU, Wis and Pur in the Big Ten. All great courses. In another ranking UM isn't top 10, Purdue, OSU both are.
I think UM could be great at golf, but weather is a big, big hinderance to recruiting. Those high academic California kids aren't coming to Michigan for golf.
Excellent
Not trying to shit on you, WD, but am I the only one who feels like this is just trying to make ourselves feel better after the basketball debacle vs. MSU this year?
I said the same thing about the OSU thread you started on this. Don't get me wrong: I'm sure MSU fans would rather that they beat us in rowing, men's swimming, and softball instead of lose to us. But does MSU really care that they only beat us 14 times out of 46 tries in any sport this year? They more or less got all they wanted anyway.
The one sport on campus that they will always care about no matter what, the proverbial "straw the stirs the drink" if you will, they swept us in that. Three times in a month, in the exact same fashion each time. Losing in football hurts, sure. But basketball will always be their bread and butter. Given what they did to Michigan in basketball this year, everything else is just details to them.
With a few exceptions, I think a lot of MSU fans would've been perfectly fine with that final record being 3-43-0 as long as the three wins were basketball wins.
Not trying to shit on you, WD, but am I the only one who feels like this is just trying to make ourselves feel better
Yes, this is an extremely bad take on WD's part -- not to mention when he gets into Twitter pissing contests with MSU students/grads. WD would still try to rub it in if every icon in the table was a "M".
1. Many of us are proud of our school.
2. Many of us follow the non-revenue sports too.
3. Mixing Nos. 1 and 2 at the expense of a rape enabling shithole is not a good look.
Football means more to them, they just lose so they then hope for bb.
Living in Spartan nation I can tell you with certainty that the msu um football game is the biggest event of the year, hands down.
1-3 in my book
I agree with your train of thought.
But to me, it's actually more like 1-0.
Thanks for doing this. As we discussed earlier the teams did well this year.
Very informative, thanks for putting this together WD. I wish they were even more wins for the maize and blue, but it's still nice to see us beating up msu.
But those 3 loses in b-ball were tough to stomach.
If not for basketball and golf... damn. Also, those actually add up to 30-13-3 I believe
Football program loses in humiliating fashion to chief rival OSU: "U-M Athletics dominated OSU!"
Basketball program loses 3 times to chief rival MSU: "U-M Athletics dominated MSU!"
Come on man
