Michigan's First Night Game!
My best friend is an ND fan and being we play them at home this year it is my turn to host (looking for tickets in the student section will pay top dollar). He sent me a blog article about the top ten things ND fans can expect with the first night game against USC.
What are the top ten things Michigan Fans can expect in our game aginst ND?
http://wenevergraduate.blogspot.com/
If you would rather not read from an ND blog they listed...
#10: The Mother of All Tailgates
#9: Higher TV Ratings
#8: Grumpy Old Men
#7: A Younger Crowd
#6: Colder Temperatures (Oct 22)
#5: The Return of the Pep Rally
#4: Michael Floyd
#3: Green Jerseys
#2: Amped Up Noise Level
#1: Victory
It's nice to know we can expect victory. Thanks ND for having our back!
Probably not Michael Floyd...
Also 1 and 3 are clearly contradictory.
Floyd?? Maybe we see him in the stands. And maybe he'll be sober. Maybe.
10. Passed out sorority chicks by 3PM
9. Late arriving grumpy old men, but
8. Epic tailgates from 6 AM to 8 PM for the younger crowd
7. Fights
6. Vomiting
5. MANBALL
4. Hype, Hype and more Hype
3. A boon to purveyors of alcoholic beverages
2. NOISE
1. Denarded, Version 2.0
... lasers.
I would add Lloyd Brady and Epic lines to the men's bathroom to your great list.
Speaking of the men's bathroom. Every year I talk about making a sign to put high above the door that says "Those Who Go Will Be Champions." Can someone make this happen?
We should all reach up and touch it on the way out. 90% of us would then die of cholera (mens bathroom, gross), but it would still be pretty neat.
Epic cheap tickets scalped from frat guys who get too drunk to go to the game.
Clearly you weren't in a fraternity. We were never too drunk to do anything (at least that's what we thought at the time).
Frat guys don't get too drunk for anything.
and continence
...ESPN's College Gameday?
i think we'll have a legit shot at hosting gameday for that one. shit loads of tradition, a rivalry, denard, and the first night game ever at the big house should do the trick. anyone know what other big games are our competition that day??
Don't forget the throwback uniforms! (Or, probably more realistically, the "throwback" uniforms.)
You mean throwback helmets
throw UP uniforms. Come on DB, make us proud and not get too crazy.
I didn't look at every teams schedule but out of the well known programs the only 'big' match-up I saw was: Alabama @ Penn St.
Never underestimate ESPN's affinity for the SEC.
Yeah, but ESPN has an affinity for ND, too.
And there are a lot more storylines in UM-ND than Bama-PSU. Plus the Bama-PSU game was a blowout last year, and probably will be again.
UM-ND will be on ESPN, primetime, and will easily be the most watched game of the day; one of the most watched games of the year (based on the fanbases of the teams playing and timeslot). It would be crazy for Game Day to miss this one.
College GameDay, inside the stadium plazas (maybe by the Eagle, maybe by the north end zone, but because everyone can be cleared out of the stadium before the game, it's the perfect chance to do it (GameDay has always had a "venue" problem for Michigan.)
Which, by the way, Desmond would then be in town for the 20th anniversary of "4th and 1."
Isn't the parking lot at Main and Keech (just north of the NW corner of Michigan Stadium and used by contractor trailers while under construction) where it has been held before? Wouldn't that area be most likely to host again?
Panoramic shots of campus, a nice corner of the stadium with plenty of flat land, that's my guess...
[How do I post a screenshot? Apparently, I am dumb and only know how to link url'd photos]
Expect ME at the game.
The first ever night game at the big house? No way I'm missing that!
expect anything less.
Make sure your DVR is set :)
WH, you know better than anyone... PSU vs Michigan 2002, Michigan vs MSU Braylonfest... 2 night games right there!
More like 3:30 (PSU) and 4:30 (MSU) starts. They don't count if the games only ended under a night sky.
We're talking when the band forms the block M, the team touches the banner and kickoff...all under a night sky. Can't wait!
I've already decided that money won't be an option for me. I must get a ticket. It's going to be so awesome
I wish so badly to be there for that game. Unfortunately I live out of town and am currently more broke than owen wilson's nose.
Get a green card and start growing. You won't be broke long.
Basically the Big Chill, but you know, with football.
And the grumpy traditionalist who will complain that all games are supposed to start at 1pm.
Hey you dang kids, stay off my grass!
....but all M home games are supposed to start at noon. Those 1pm starts have a tendency to interrupt my dinner.
Yes, I'm a traditionalist and, yes, I'm grumpy.
and to be hit by a drunk driver. Still well worth the price of admission.
when Michael Floyd is in the neighborhood.
That list was made by an ND fan - are you saying you won't get a victory?
I mean, I agree with you, but I didn't think you'd concede this early.
well thats embarrassing I guess the pressure is off now,
I will say I should use something bigger than my phone to read the blog with
I'm gonna go ahead and not cross No. 1 of the list. Man, 4 out of 5 really makes you guys edgy, doesn't it?
I'd say its night game record which makes ND edgy
That school from northern Indiana is the away team. And if they ask for our permission per the NCAA rule (they wouldn't), I say we tell 'em to go fuck themselves. They wear white jerseys. And their fans wear whatever they the wear to their usual Saturday night bar-fight.
Except for the fact that, as of late, the green jerseys seem to be a general harbinger of doom for the Irish. I'll allow it.
ND fan in the student section? Eff that.
Actually year before last we had seats inside the blue Block M and of course he refused to wear the blue "All In For Michigan" shirt being given aaway sporting instead his green Irish shirt.
Point being the student section ABUSED him all day and being one of so few Irish fans it was glorious! Of course Tater busting them in half did not hurt. I once had a version of this picture that was larger and you can actually see his lone Irish green shirt just under the stage left far tier of the M and me next to him hand in the air as we all shouted "HAIL" during The Victors.
WAS THE STUDENT WHO GAME HIM THEIR DAMN TICKET, GOD I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE GIVE THEIR TICKETS TO OPPOSING FANS ESPECIALLY STUDENTS GET A CLUE ARRRRGHHHAS;LDKFJ;ALSKDJF
Exactly. Students that sell their tickets to opposing fans don't deserve to have tickets.
I mean, I understand that students need to occasionally bring some money in and selling their tickets can be an easy way to do that, BUT USE SOME FREAKING DISCRETION. If there are opposing fans willing to pay top dollar, I'll bet there are plenty of Michigan fans willing to do the same.
ME! For any of you looking to sell ND tickets.
