Michigan’s 15th Elite Eight Appearance Moves them out of a tie with MSU
And into a tie with OSU:
1. Kentucky 38
2. UNC 28
3. Kansas 24
T4. Duke 22
T4. UCLA 22, 23 (1980 vacated)
T6. Michigan 15 (1992, 1993 vacated)
T6. OSU 15 (1999 vacated)
T7. MSU 14
T7. Nova 14 (1971 vacated)
T7. Louisville 14 (2012, 2013, 2015 vacated)
These rankings include the vacated years listed. Michigan is behind some pretty historically damn good programs and the 4 listed below them are coincidentally probably the most hated programs by Michigan fans. (I don’t know if people hate Nova but I certainly haven’t rooted for them the past 3 years.) By the way Indiana has 11.
Hang the banners!
Doubt very much Sparty will ever catch up during the Coach Juwan era, or ever again.
It’s so fun to come read these comments on the blog and then watch the exact opposite crush Michigan. Is that only football where that always happens?
and that Sparty hobbit is on the downside of this career.
Knocks on wood three times....
I love to dunk on Staee as much as the next man, but that's by no means guaranteed
Not many teams that made the finals in the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's, 10's either. Consistency.
Let's go for the 20's too..
To all you Sparty fans that wanted to wait and see if Juwan could coach in the tournament, have you seen enough yet?
They still think its all Martelli...very few admit Juwan has anything to do with it. They cannot bring themselves to admit that they're in trouble.
I wonder how these same fans feel about the idea that Narduzzi was the only reason behind Dantonio's success?

MEEEEECHIGAN!
MEEEEEEECHIGAN!!!
Its funny but in 5 years people will be talking about Michigan as a blue blood as if 1999-2008 never happened. Look at the 12 years before at 12 years since and its true. The big ten championships were on a strangle hold by ref dominating coaches (keady, Knight and Izzo) I think those days may finally be behind us. Look at Michigan tournaments (as in all of them regular season included) the last 30 years. Its pretty impressive.
So, 17?!
15 includes the 92, 93 seasons

the 12 years before 2000 hit us.
Sparty can kiss my ass.
That was a clinic on how to play Team Basketball and how Team Basketball will almost always beat the bigger team. Well done!
I've got nothing against 'nova - they're probably my least-despised top program.
Feel like they're a lot like Michigan - well coached, good, smart players who mesh well. High hoops IQ.
I'm on cloud nine - cannot get over how impressive that was.
We are so lucky to be in the middle of a golden era for Michigan basketball - Go Blue!
I have a lot of trouble believing North Carolina, Kansas, Kentucky, Duke and StAEE haven’t done anything to warrant vacating any of those appearances.
And UCLA only having one vacated? That’s a complete joke.
We’ll pass both of them in the coming years.
I get pissed every time I see Louisville 2013 vacated.
And that was ALL BALL.
I was just thinking about that play--ALL FUCKING BALL.
Indiana will be at 11 for a looong time with their recent coaching hire!
We are elite!
Oh that scandalous 1971 Villanova team
RCMB is saying right now this season doesn’t count. An ‘*’ or something. So I guess we should just hang our heads.
Bahahahahahahahahahah ????
Luv this.
It's great to see what Beilein helped to forge is gaining even more momentum with Howard.
Let's freaking go.
Go Blue.
PS - Football, are you taking notes?
I've never seen an Izzo team look as well coached as the Michigan team did today, on both ends of the court. Juwan is looking more and more like a legitimately great basketball coach and Izzo is looking more and more like a short person who cheated his ass off until the FBI cracked down.
We're more of a BB school than a football school.
Kentucky should have all the ones from the start of Pitino on, vacated, UNC should have every one vacated due to the cheating scandal, Kansas should have all the ones under Self vacated. F Duke.
At this point, Will Wade is still coaching at LSU. Everyone with vacated anything should be re-hanging those banners. It's a joke
Was just thinking the same. With Wade, Self, and Miller-- among others-- still running their programs as if nothing ever happened, any school that vacated anything should start hoisting those banners and editing their record books.
Michigan is now 15-2 in the Sweet 16 best Win% in NCAA (.882)
Since 2013 Most NCAA Tounament wins -21
UCLA- Michigan have combined to play for the NC 21 times since 1964
