MI vs. Syracuse Open Thread

Submitted by zxcvbn on

So the 3-0 Wolverines face their first test tonight as they take on the highly rated Orangemen of Syracuse. Syracuse has struggled their last two games, and the young Wolverines hope to catch some luck against a good Big East team.

The game is on HDNet also, so if you have an online stream, that would be helpful.

that he doesn't need to/ cannot take over the game like Kobe. The system is to get the ball to an open man. He's good and I'm sure will learn.

Anyway, at least M played hard.

has almost singledhandedly killed us this second half.  Just a terrible series of decisions, drives and shot selection (he should not even be thinking about shooting outside 10 feet).

absolutely on fire in the last game. Can't tell the kid not to take open shots and maybe some of his shots were questionable but we weren't getting great looks in the 2nd half anyway.

Michigan's poor shooting will still hold this team back from being anything beyond mediocre.  They will lead the nation in passing the ball around the arc until the shot clock is running out and jacking up ridiculous shots though.

Both teams looked bad in this game, and it wasn't due to good defense.  Syracuse won't be in the top ten for long.

Not bad, definitely some promising things to take away from this game!  We never folded, which I think everyone would have expected, especially after that 9-0 run.  Darius has to play smarter, but that'll come.  Hopefully soon, cuz I don't wanna pull out anymore hair...

Not a pretty game at all, but a good learning experience for both teams.  Looking forward to seeing this Michigan team mature, they could be a very good team with some time.

Now that this is over, looking forward to tomorrow, let's kick their ass. Go Blue!

or was the second half officiating 'questionable'.  And my goodness are the HDNet broadcasters lousy.  It was like listening to the 'Cuse radio network.

Cuse has more talent than we do, and this was our first real test, and first game away from Crisler. The kids battled hard, lost their composure at the end, but did alright. Played decent D and did a good job rebounding the ball most of the game (helped that Cuse plays a zone) considering they're alot taller than us. Joseph for Cuse played a great game and I was glad to see Hardaway guarding him, going to help that kid grow up real fast. Didn't shoot the ball great, but we stayed in the game.

Cuse didn't impress me. Not a top 25 team right now IMO, let alone top 10. Can't take alot from one game though.

They look good, but need to find who will be their go-to scorer.  Morris may be that guy, probably why he was rushing things tonight.  Should be an exciting year.  Go Blue!

The shots just didn't fall in the last five minutes, but the guys really battled.  Get to some games at Crisler if you can - this team deserves our support.

As I said earlier, if we were to win we had to hit the open 3's in the second half. We didn't and we ended up losing, its all good though we played a great game. It went much better than my prediction, so i'm at least happy. We played as a "team".

This young team played very well against the #9 team and with a few better decisions and made shots they win.  I think this is the first year that it will be truly JB's team.

My father, a 'Cuse fan, tempered my enthusiasm.  He says that they tend to play up or down to their opponents.  Especially in preseason when the scores are close even if they are playing a D2 team.

Still, the went toe-to-toe with the #9 team!
