Meta: Website Updates
A few months back, Brian (or maybe Seth?) said that the website was mostly ready and they would enter into a beta phase for a few weeks with select members.
Quite a bit of time has passed and I'm curious what the status is? Are we looking at launch pretty soon or did the beta test reveal that we needed to bake it for a bit longer?

Is this where the board mentions that Brian had a baby recently?

Ha. Mgoblog with some Scandinavian parental leave policies or what?
February 25th, 2018 at 2:17 PM ^
Being humane to new parents has no place on an American sports blog.
February 25th, 2018 at 9:46 AM ^
That had to hurt.
February 25th, 2018 at 10:09 AM ^
This where someone reminds us that the site is free, so we have no right to complain.
February 25th, 2018 at 10:12 AM ^
I’m not complaining whatsoever, simply making a joke because that line has been put on almost every thread for a year now. Relax, Dad.
February 25th, 2018 at 10:27 AM ^
My comment was meant more as a joke. I did not mean it as a slam to you, so relax, Son.
February 25th, 2018 at 10:40 AM ^
Regardless of intent. I find it interesing that on the internet you can always go back and say you did/did not mean something, because words sometimes don't carry how you truely feel or will be mistaken. Anyway.. carry on
February 25th, 2018 at 10:13 AM ^
This is where. Site is free so we have no right to complain. Unless you are into beveled guilt.
February 25th, 2018 at 11:23 AM ^
You have a right to complain about someone misleading you tho. Look, I have no problems with the current format, and i wouldn't even care about this.
But, Brian/Seth have a history of saying "it's coming next off-season" and not delivering. People do have a right to complain about that -- they've been misled.
That said, its kinda "fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me." Believing that updates are coming just sets people up for disappointment. Just accept its out of your control and move on to enjoying what the site actually does provide, which is a lot.
February 25th, 2018 at 11:54 AM ^
And in fine with the site format. I am usually on my phone and just use full site and it works fine. Don't like the mobile app. Prefer full sites with pinch to zoom. I don't care if it changes.
February 25th, 2018 at 8:46 PM ^
I do the same and do find it annoying, but have gotten used to it.
What really annoys me tho is that this, compared to the old HD app, which they shut down, completely blows.
They shut that shit down, promising us a new app and site were right around the corner.... and we all know the rest of that story.
Why the hell did they not just take over the HD app, charge a couple bucks per month for it (which I and many others gladly would’ve paid, since their reason for shutting it down was a loss of ad revenue), and call it a day? Would’ve been too easy
February 25th, 2018 at 12:23 PM ^
Do you believe there was an intent to deceive?
February 25th, 2018 at 11:48 AM ^
Everything I watch on TV is free and I complain about it all the time.
February 25th, 2018 at 12:39 PM ^
It's not free. Teevees melt your brain, man!
February 25th, 2018 at 3:06 PM ^
That's what I complain about.
February 25th, 2018 at 8:29 PM ^
Your right to complain is trumped by their right to not care.
February 25th, 2018 at 9:26 AM ^
We'll just have this thread every few months for the rest of eternity. Seth will give an answer that seems hopeful and satisfy us for a while until months later it proves untrue. Rinse and repeat. This is our life now. /s
February 25th, 2018 at 9:46 AM ^
I've been closely monitoring the situation (digging through Brian's garbage, calling Seth's distant family members and leaving heavy breathing voicemails, sitting in the tree with a pair of binoculars in front of HuEl's office building) and I've got some news on the situation. Everything is currently ready to go, but they can't find a hamster with enough tenacity (and resistance to horse steroids without dying) to power the new site's servers. They had high hopes for a Mesocricetus named "Lil' Swifty" and were in negotiations with the finest black market Russian hamster dealers to ship him over to Michigan, but things broke down when they found out that Lil' Swifty had a little of bit of a, shall we say, cocaine problem. They're still searching, though. As soon as they get the right hamster, that's when we'll see it up. Hopefully Ol' Hambiscuit holds up in the mean time to keep the current site up.

When those guys branch out from Phodopus sales, somebody's gotta be up to no good.
February 25th, 2018 at 1:53 PM ^
...would have been completed by now if Lloyd Carr and the old Michigan traditionalists weren’t secretly working to undermine the programming.
February 25th, 2018 at 9:28 AM ^
Know about the website baking, but this morning was a decent wake & bake for some...not that I'd know from experience.
February 25th, 2018 at 11:56 AM ^
Tokelers ?
February 25th, 2018 at 9:31 AM ^
I think Seth said a few weeks ago that 3.0 was mostly functional and they were trying to fix as many bugs as possible/work with HuEl on aesthetic things they don't like before they send it to the public beta.
February 25th, 2018 at 9:39 AM ^
change is hard
February 25th, 2018 at 10:18 AM ^
That's not it. I think it is your army of hackers, fake news purveyors and social media manipulators that have fucked it up.
February 25th, 2018 at 10:59 AM ^
I can have a shadow site up in 20 minutes
February 25th, 2018 at 9:44 AM ^
I thought some were selected for a pilot/Beta trial. Can anyone explain how it went?
February 25th, 2018 at 11:28 AM ^
classified. Glad to be a part of it though
February 25th, 2018 at 9:46 AM ^
I do know however if they can raise 50K annually via go-fund-me to finance the publication of Hail they could damn sure raise whatever $ is necessary to fund to this makeover if capital is the issue.
I don't think they really want to do it.
February 25th, 2018 at 10:20 AM ^
I've come to accept that its just not happening for at least anither year, no matter the year.
In 2014, I believed it would arrive in 2015.
In 2015, I believed it would arrive in 2016.
Rinse and repeat.
February 27th, 2018 at 1:58 AM ^
I used to ask when it was going to happen, but I don't any more. Brian is too busy or unconcerned or depressed to even address it. Seth is usually apologetic and says somehting on the lines of "soon." But yeah, whatever.

Kind of like the football team.
“Next year will be the year,” every year.
Perhaps the site redesign is Brian’s most poignant sports commentary yet.
February 25th, 2018 at 10:48 AM ^
Non-stop crotchety old man commentary
February 25th, 2018 at 12:05 PM ^
They’re lazy. There really isn’t any other reason why it would take this long.
February 25th, 2018 at 10:05 AM ^
If it makes modding this place less clunky, which would lead to far less complaints about why and how someone's portion of whatever thread may have been deleted, not to mention less complaints about other things, then I will donate the coffee and bagels for the grand unveiling.
We can only have so much in the way of condiments though. NCAA thing. Sorry.
February 25th, 2018 at 10:09 AM ^
will i lose my preshhhhusssss!? (aka points)
February 25th, 2018 at 10:14 AM ^
and procure some hookers for the launch party?
February 25th, 2018 at 10:57 AM ^
They’re going the Jim Tressel route for the redesign. “Website update? First I’ve heard of it.”
February 25th, 2018 at 11:41 AM ^
Happy Easter!
February 25th, 2018 at 2:20 PM ^
I believe that's called the Izzo route now.
February 25th, 2018 at 3:09 PM ^
The block was clean.
Whatever, it never happened.
2013 FINAL THREE CHAMPIONS, baby!
February 26th, 2018 at 2:23 PM ^
I'm sure 2013 Syracuse did something illegal too
February 25th, 2018 at 12:21 PM ^
I was hoping they'd do this for you, though maybe it gets abused, and the net impact is a wash.
February 25th, 2018 at 10:07 AM ^
Has the beta testing even started? I submitted my name as a reviewer, but suspect I wasn't selected because I haven't heard anything. No big deal, just don't know where anything stands...
February 25th, 2018 at 10:40 AM ^
Same here. I was hoping they'd value some perspective from North of the Wall.
February 25th, 2018 at 11:28 AM ^
Not invited either
February 25th, 2018 at 11:01 AM ^
Figured I didn't make the cut cause I heard nothing.
February 25th, 2018 at 11:21 AM ^
because I know they're biased against skulls.
