META: Ghost thumbs UP/Down
So I logged in today for the first time in a while, had several "ghost" thumbs up or down on posts which I've never even opened before. The thumbs up didn't seem to count towards the positive score, but my thumbs down (most of which were on COVID argument threads) did seem to count for the score.

Are these ghost thumbs or “whiskey thumbs?” We may never know the whole truth. I suggest taking a 2 week dive into QAnon websites see what you can discover

I see that pretty frequently but I don’t think it counts. For instance if I click thumbs up on one that indicates I already have voted on, the count goes up again. I think it’s just a glitch.

My understanding of this is that the blue ones show a new vote that took place while you were reading the thread, whether it was you or not. That's how I understood it. I may just be telling myself that to avoid perpetuating a conspiracy that keeps me up at night, though. I already have too many things in the hell that is my head.

Can I ask a fundamental question: what's the overall point of thumbs up/down? You can't cash in your mgopoints for an Amazon gift card or anything. I guess its good when there is a certain threshold that you need to create a post. But still overall, I rarely if ever use the feature. And getting negged doesn't mean anything to me.

It's a bug--I've seen it for quite some time. While it is annoying, since neither it nor Mgopoints really matter all that much I have to admit I don't worry about it.

I rarely post, so when I do I kinda know how many upvotes I've just gotten, but the point total next to my name doesn't correspond to the upvotes/downvotes I've just gotten
Also, if I don't post for awhile, my point total will slowly go down - unless someone's still reading/downvoting posts from weeks ago ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
