Men's Basketball Rooting Guide

Submitted by aiglick on

The main two results we want have been talked about already. If they were to happen to me it doesn't matter what else happens as that would be fantastic. However, if our game and State's game goes how we want then the following would make a great day even better:

  • Florida losing to Kentucky
  • Florida State losing to Clemson
  • Indiana losing to Purdue
  • Wisconsin losing to Illinois
  • Creighton losing to Illinois State (this one is debatable if you want Northwestern to squeak into the Tourney)

Rooting for the home team is overrated today as all of these games feature road teams that we want to win. This of course includes the Marquee games. Now, let's get the most important result of all.

I "think" he's referring to NCAA Tourney seeding, i.e. those are the teams we may be fighting for a 3 seed seend rather than a 4 seed with, IMHO, however, I think Florida is solidly ahead of us in seeding and Creighton and Florida State  (barring some crazy ACCTourney run) is solidly behind us

I did separate into paragraphs when making the post. Agreed the original formatting wasn't great but I was rushing back to the apartment to put on the game. Thanks BISB for the formatting assist.

Instead of Creighton, it was actually #14 Wichita State who played Illinois State in the MVC Semi's. Illinois State did beat them 65-64 though to help us out. Also, Florida lost to Kentucky, it looks like FSU is gonna pull one out against Clemson, and Wisconsin is steam-rolling Illinois at half. Bruce Weber seems to be qucikly losing his job

Anything thing to root for in the Indiana vs Purdue game is for Zeller to struggle in a loss to Purdue. This will help Burke win the BIG Freshman of the Week over Zeller for this week, and overall that will give him one more BIG Freshman of the Week for the year. Right now Zeller is considered the favorite to win the BIG Freshman of the Year, but with an additional weekly award, it might just be enough to give the nod to Burke.
