MBB v Illinois BTT Open Thread

Submitted by alum96 on

I only started one other MBB game thread this year and it was for Illinois and that one turned out well.  Hopefully twice is still a charm.

And the Illinois guy pushes off and they don't call anything.

And then he just played his worst defensive series.

And Illinos misses a floater.

Wow, he got way too good a look at that.  Talk about some maize and blue luck right there!

I guess you just gotta survive and play better next time.  At least I think our 2 seed is probably more or less safe now.

To be completely fair, Illinois was playing as good or better than Nebraska and OSU over the last couple weeks of this season.

I really didn't expect to be so nervous at the end of a noon game to open the BTT.  Happy that we got our crappy game out of the way and that it didn't end up hurting us.  Go kick some ass tomorrow and get back on track.

... not sure the close call & being asleep part of the game won't reflect not-so-hot on us.

But we should have the #2 seed, at least.

(On the other hand -- could be seen as strategic. Doing just enough to stay in the Dance; not putting too much energy into what could be a costly diversion of a tournament.)

2nd half was pretty brutal. Give credit to Illinois and their D. Probably should have lost but they didn't. Can't win them all pretty dudes.

The Offense bothered me more than the defense. That was the expected defense we've seen almost all year. To go almost scoreless for 10 minutes (3 baskets in 11 minutes- 2 threes and the morgan lay up plus 1 FT) was terrifying.

This is the kind of game that always worries me. When we can't get the shots to drop, even when we have good looks, and can never get offensive rebounds, teams will be neck and neck with us....or worse. Please play better tomorrow, blue.
