This per Jeff Goodman's Twitter feed. Hopefully this is true this time...EDIT: Scout now says Matthews' high school coach confirmed this news.

It might be the last time JB coaches Michigan if he finishes under .500 (which is a possibility) with the lineups we are about to send out in 2016-17. Walton, Irvin, MAAR, and Duncan are all capable, but let's be honest: we are one injury away from playing Sean Lonergan and Andrew Dakich significant minutes together. That shouldn't happen a decade into your tenure at a place like Michigan.

I know we are all excited about X, but let's just say he's not ready ala Carlton Brundidge. Let's say Ibi is a real project (as most expect) and isn't ready. It could get ugly. You're talking about having to trot out walk-ons or playing Donnal and Wagner together.

He will be in a sense if he doesn't start winning games. He doesn't recruit good enough talent to run that offense. Bring in Crean. Put his past aside and complete the circle. Jim would approve. Who gives a shit what you all think!

Possibility to finish under .500? Did you miss the part where the tournament team from last year has the exact same starting lineup plus a top 70 PG recruit to replace Dakich's minutes? You really think losing one player of note in Dawkins (who still played less than 40% of available minutes) will turn us from a tourney team to being a big ten cellar team? Stupidity. Your comment is pure stupidity. All Ibi has to do is be able to make threes and he already equalizes what Dawkins could do. If he can defend then he's already *better.* Wilson literally can't be worse than Chatman was at the 4 last year save for one shot. Go home Avon, you're drunk.

was probably Bernard Robinson, Jr.  He even played a bit in the NBA thanks to his defense alone.  We certainly haven't had any shut-down defenders in the Beilein era, but Stu Douglas was pretty good guarding guards.

Beilein's just never prioritized the skill in recruiting, and openly admitted a change in philosophy and followed through already with the hire of a defensive coordinator and now this transfer.  Gotta appreciate Beilein's willingness to adapt (or at least, try).
