MBB: Coaching candidates?

Anybody who comes to mind if Warde decides to encourage Beilein to retire? Love the hell outta Beilein but I think it would be wise for him to retire, in hopes of maintaining his legacy here. The Program needs new energy.

How about Steve Prohm, Iowa State?!

Made move there after Hoiberg went to the Bulls from Murray St.

Yes, this name isn't Gregg Marshall of Archie Miller but I don't see either of those two coming here; based on nothing, just my dumb opinion (not that there's going to be an opening anyway).

Having attended Murray State for a time and seeing first hand what Steve can do with the players he develops, I would love that hire. Wearing a block M on that campus and being asked how to get apparel in that font was always a fun conversation. Had a few classes with his now wife. Let's say the guy must have confidence...

We've got the money...I'd go for it for sure.

To be honest, I'd just start at the top and create and list until you get someone in your top group.

Go offer Brad Stevens a shit ton of money. No?

Jay Wright. No?

Tony Bennett? No?

...Gregg Marshall, Archie Miller, Chris Mack.

Just go down the list, but open up the checkbook like you did for Harbaugh.

There's lots of evidence  that each of the Fab Five were going to choose Michigan had Ed Martin never been alive.

That does not excuse the bad behavior, but I don't think it moved the needle much with the Fab Five.  Later recruits, though, I am no as sure about.

Jalen Rose has admitted many times to taking money from Ed Martin. Webber was a bigger deal because he lied to a grand jury about it. Jalen told the truth. I was in elementary school in those years but from what I have heard from people who followed the program, the Fab five were certainly not the first Michigan players to get something extra during that era of Michigan Basketball being elite.

Realistically, there has been 15 different teams to win a Bball championship since the last time Michigan did. Three of those teams are UNLV, Arkansas, and Florida, which are more flash-in-the-pan than traditional powers. Michigan has also made three appearances in the finals since their last championship. It is still a brand name, and a much easier sell than you think for a coach who is willing to go after elite talent.

I probably would have negged this thread two weeks ago. But I was wrong. 2011-14 was the exception. This is embarassing. We are getting our shit pushed by a wellbelow average B1G team. I'm ready to move on.

After beilein lost all his assistants that were clearly the backbone of this coaching staff the program fell off. What a mess
