Pass protection was a little better, but is still the obvious weakness in the offense.  We have to convince the Badgers and Buckeyes we can punish them if they play their safeties within 10 yards of the line of scrimmage.  If we can't protect Peters, that will not happen and we'll die unless the defense scores.

running attack given how Maryland stacked the box.  Pass pro still needs work.  Peters took two big shots, one cheap way late one, and one where he had no time at all.

Obviously, pretty solid early, but not a good showing in the second half.
  • Run game still looks very strong
  • Need Higdon back, luckily didn't look serious.
  • Peters was okay, but not great. Had a few big misses.
  • Pass Pro was better than it has been.
  • Had a very bad second half, but a lot of it was on coaching.

First half offense was fun. Shifts. Motions. Touchdowns. Second half was not fun. Running game was not as successful as the past two weeks. Probably to be expected due to the Rutgers/Minnesota factor the past two weeks. Hopefully we can establish some sort of run game next week. We will need it to set up play action and have some success. I expect Wisconsin to stack the box and keep everyone close to the LOS until we make them do something different.

No turnovers is huge.  35 - 10  ... I mean ... .hello !

No reason to go too crazy but my guess is they are working on his timing with the receivers still etc etc.   No reason to risk turn overs still with passing too much but I think we all want to see the deep ball for sure.  =)

He has done pretty good in his last 3 games I think and I like him back there better still than the other options by far.

That TD pass to Gentry was underthrown like many of his passes. That route is absolutely indefensible of that ball is thrown two feet higher or 1-3 yards deeper. That pass was actually out in the only place hat you don’t want it, between Gentry and the defender. Gentry has the guy by several yards so it was inconsequential, against good coverage that pass is knocked down, maybe picked off.

But they are much more talented then other young WR and QB who are doing great on other teams across the country.  I just wish we had a better passing game going up against WI next week. WI main goal will be to shutdown our run game. We will have to throw.

Its always nice to win and not worry about it but this was f'ing ugly through the air. I'm aware Peters probably doesn't have the full playbook open for him but Michigan WR's caught ONE (1) pass all day and it was for 3 yards to McDoom.

That's dispicable considering this was Maryland.

Times have changed though.  I remember being ridiculed for having a number 12 jersey back in the day.  A mediocre Dreisbach would be a clear cut #1 today.  Saw him throw that corner route to Hayes to beat Virginia, although those passes were rare.

bail out this offense the next two weeks. The OL play is inconsistent, the play calling unimaginative, and we have no healthy WRs. I think I'm going to start praying for a miracle.

on this team and the inside running game is solid. I still think Peters has potential to be exceptional and the TEs are fantastic. First half had creativity and energy on offense. 3/4ths of 2nd half was an exercise in watching paint dry - incredibly conservative and pedantic playcalling. Next week will tell us a lot about the offense and 2 weeks will tell us the whole story.

I'm still stunned and flabbergasted at the lack of a downfield passing attack. Non-existent. What is Harbaugh going to do the next 2 weeks when the offense is continually in 3rd and long?

If we get higdon and Hill and Long next week, we'll compete and keep it a tight game, but I don't see us keeping it close vs osu unfortunately; their dline is scary good.

was good sound football on both sides of ball. As others have pointed out, the second half was very pedestrian by design.  Bland looks from Offense.  Execution was poor and Maryland was all fired up and made good second half adjustments.  That said, lots of work to still on offense.

Im still waiting to see that spread attack with all our weapons in space.   Well I can dream I guess,   right.   Hoping for the best with the injuries

QBs

Peters got some passing opportunities in prtactice and in the game this week. I am pleased by this performance. He looks calm and is simply throwing nice passes to get the ball moving. It woud have been nice if he connected more on those deep throws, but that'll come soon, and some of the time that wasn't necessarily his mistake.

RBs

The powerful duo of Higdon and Evans continues. I hope Karan is okay. This game confirms our identity with the run, even when we can also make some pass plays on the side. I'm looking for both of them to step up for a big game in Madison next week.

Is it just me, or is Kareem Walker constantly getting the turf monster of something? He never seemed to gain a yard. Ever.

Recievers

Still improving each week. They made some nice catches on a few of Peters' subpar throws, and this will be necessary to keep together a productive offense when you have a learning QB.

Offensive Line

They aren't flashy, but they are continuing to come together to play well and give holes to our RBs over the last few weeks. I am hoping this trend continues. I said earlier in the season that this offensive line really can't improve because it's just simply not that good overall, but they certainly proved me wrong!

As everyone has already said, that sloppy second half on offense was kind of set up to be sloppy with the playcalling.
