Louisville men's bball national title *may be* vacated

Submitted by ypsituckyboy on

Per the NCAA, Louisville's national title has been vacated due to the scandal surrounding the men's bball team. Dan Wetzel from Yahoo notes that this isn't a forfeit so Michigan doesn't get the national title. There's no winner.

So do we pull an Okie St football and start acting like we won a game we didn't?

EDIT: Per a correct note below, only wins during the specified timeframe in which ineligible athlete(s) participated will be vacated. Louisville has to provide the NCAA with this info. Not sure who the atheletes are, so not sure if that will include NCAA title win.

If half of the football teams in the south can lay claim to mythical national titles from the 1930s, Michigan can surely claim a national title where the other team was 404 Not Found - With Hookers.

So you honestly think Rick Pitino, the millionaire basketball coaching icon, bankrolled a bunch of west-end prostitutes to show up at a campus party where he thought some high school prospects might be? For what? Maybe they like whores?

Law of parsimony, man.

In all likelihood a former staffer, who happened to be young and like strippers at his house parties, threw a party and some of the current players who were hosting recruits showed up with said recruits.

It's not that difficult.

The guy cheated on his wife and got extorted for his sins. Have you seen his wife? She's a troll. I'm not sure how cheating on your wife somehow turns the public opinion so badly people will actually believe you could bankroll prostitute s for high school kids. Unreal. People are so stupid.

If we had to take the Fab 5 banners down because rules were broken, then shouldn't we be able to hang a banner because rules were broken? We want to be logically consistent, yes? I know the record books won't show it, but the NCAA wouldn't sanction us for hanging a championship banner would they? If Harbaugh did it, sure. But not for JB, right? Right??

I'm talking about from our perspective, not the NCAA's. If I'm a Temple fan, I'd be quite happy to hang a final four banner in my arena so long as the NCAA doesn't penalize my team for doing it, which seems unlikely. Hang it with an asterisk if you want. Hang it with a second banner that explains the whole situation. If multiple football teams can claim a title from the same season, I have less than zero issue with our basketball team claiming a title in a season without a championship team in which we went further than anyone else that wasn't forced to vacate.

DOCTOR JAAAAAAAAAWS.

Are you saying you fuckity know what would have fuckity happened in the last five or so minutes of that game if only Louisville weren't allowed to shoot two fuckity free throws? Would your own life be less fuckity fucked if you got to wear a championship t-shirt around?

it's not official that the title is vacated.  the ncaa determined that games with ineligible players would be vacated, but did not specify those games.  louisville has to provide the ncaa with a list of those games.
