I understand circling the wagons...but I mean your talking about covering up the rape and sexual abuse of dozens of young women some who were minors,  I would think everyone would agree that’s a line worth drawing regardless of which laundry you may root for individually. Nothing less than sickening what’s going on there.

I’m not sure why this isn’t a title IX or even an affirmative action issue which would compel federally authorities to mandate transparency and an independent investigation.  The act itself was horrendous but to keep hiding the shit must be a continual slap in the face for all victims and loved ones.

It seems she thought quitting WAS the best way to speak for the victims. Not sure what else she is reasonably supposed to do. She has already shown more guts than the rest of that administration combined.

No one is arguing that this solves anything, but realistically what would? (And could be accomplished by a lone trustee)

I don't know why someone would quit their position if they can get inside information, document it, then leak it to the press or hand it over to the authorities.

I guess quitting is a good way to show frustration, but it won't bring about the change she wants. Staying in a position where you can champion the changes you wish to see is better, IMHO. Sad to see this, but what do I expect from a trash university like Michigan State?

Note that Brianna Scott has a very specific reason for holding up the investigation:

She said it's better to wait until the board can waive attorney-client privilege. The board so far has refused to do that, citing ongoing lawsuits over whether MSU's insurers should refund parts of settlements and other costs associated with the Nassar scandal.

Scott was expected to be one of the new board member who turned everything around. I don't know if this is a stall tactic or a legal tactic but it surprises me that she'd be one of the issues here.

Damn.

I know a victim. I voted for Brianna Scott because she had taken a serious stance about it.

This isn't about rivalry. This isn't about partisanship. This is about doing the right thing and cleaning house so that such a horror can never happen again.

Damn.

Seems like the state should step in and just cause them loads of headaches until they sack the whole BoT and start over with a totally new administration

There are a lot of gems there, mostly of the variety I've come to expect when a bunch of older men (and I can claim with near-certainty that virtually everyone posting there is an older man) fail to contemplate that they may exist in a world where not everyone is treated as king swinging dicks.  It's pretty amazing to read them say stuff like "This is a University that acted with integrity, paid half a billion in settlements, in an impossible situation that brought-down a fine president and excellent AD (FYI to all, LAKS just got effing bound over for trial for "lying" to police about her Nassar-knowledge, sickening). The campus was never unsafe, but political-profiteers used that as a mantra. It's and was a friggin' lie."

And I'm sure for a bunch of bros walking around campus, it's reasonably safe.  But based on the mountain of evidence we've seen both with Nassar as well with others, it wasn't all that safe if you were a woman.

It is sad that we have 2 major universities in this state, they should abolish msu, re-incarnate as UM-Lansing campus (like Flint/Dearborn), every child growing up in 20 years will only be Wolverine fans.  Wipe away all those "duplicate salaries" and inept administration -- keep UM Ann Arbor as the HQ, and together we can unite and defeat ohio forever in everything.

Just a thought.

Go Blue.

PS - I might run for governor.
