Section 1.8

Great post.  I confess to having a great affinity for thoroughly-linked "I told you so" posts on the internet.

And in words I have never before written, thank you for that link to Bleacher Report.

I was also surprised by the volume of Malzone love I just saw in that thread.  Of course I can say this after the fact, but I thought he was an uninspiring commit.  I was expecting Harbaugh to move on from the commit after taking the job.  When the offer wasn’t rescinded, I then expected Malzone to go elsewhere because I thought it was obvious, with Rudock, O’Korn, and Gentry, that Harbaugh had no intention of ever playing him.

A quick google search shows Malzone was 0-4 passing and no yards rushing for the MAC Miami Redhwaks in 2018, uninspiring commit is an understatement.

I had a feeling he wasn't gonna be much either, when he was a recruit. 2014 was a dark time and even though we need to get over a couple of humps with Harbaugh, it's comical to see people bitching about our coach now.

What was the incentive to let go of him? We were going to have a super small class no matter what and there was no guarantee he’d be able to get another Qb in the class. Plus, Malzone was an early enrollee IIRC. Would have been a dick move to rescinds his scholarship a week before he started classes.

What's weird is that the only other comment he made since was in relation to a random thread he started on Marvin Bagley's committment to Duke.

I get that people are sometimes weird and have busy lives, but what exactly causes a fan on a fan board to make a random recruiting post every 2-3 years?

Alternately, what is the true connection between the OP, Jackson, and Bagley? This has all the makings of a good mystery novel.

I agree. He stays at Buffalo, has a decent senior season, and the draftniks hype him as a Josh Allen (tall, raw, big arm) or as the next Ben Roethlisberger coming out of the MAC and the dude is probably a 1st or 2nd round pick if he has a solid season

If he goes to P5 school and (in my opinion) gets exposed for what he is - which is a not very good QB - then he could really tank his draft stock

I saw him play against Army this year.  I'm not qualified to evaluate him, but he played a decent game and made some throws despite the loss.  Hard to say if he'd be better off playing against tougher competition in a new system, or lighting it up by coming back to Buffalo.

Man that was SO TRUE!

My Buddy is a Clemson grad and a huge fan as you can imagine.  He made the really good point, and one that makes my cry Maize and Blue tears, that essentially all of their "big time recruits" hit and hit to what they believed their potential to be.  Essentially, no major busts at all, or not even close to enough to see that as a trend.  Their trend is they get highly rated recruits that come in and play like highly rated recruits.

I’m calling bullshit on that, even though you’ve built in an escape by saying “Essentially” twice so you can dismiss a few busts.  I don’t know Clemson that well but from 2015-2017 classes I see several top 100 composite guys I’ve never heard of.  Everyone has busts.  Shockingly, the better you recruit the more “busts” you have,  because if you have a high percentage of your team as highly ranked guys with an average attrition rate, guess what, most of the guys leaving are “highly ranked.”

I’m not going to lie, I like your style. Last year around this time I posted that I think Michigan should be going after Chris Olave. He was late rising 3 Star WR. Only a 3 star because he had to sit out his junior season for transferring high schools. Michigan never pushed for him and OSU came in late and got him.

All he did in The Game as a true freshman was catch 2 td’s and block a punt. I’m screaming I told you so at Harbaugh through the tv and of course he acted like he couldn’t hear me. I wanted to make an I told you so post, but I decided I would just mention it every time I get a chance.
