A look ahead to 2016 (schedule)

Submitted by James Burrill Angell on
First time I looked ahead at next year's schedule. Next year we go to 9 conference games (and consequently only 3 non-Conf). Next year the non-conference is pretty weak (Hawaii, UCF, Colorado). The conference on the other hand gets rough. We pick up a home game with Wisconsin and then play road games at Iowa, MSU and OSU (yes that's road games against the top three 2015 conference teams). Yeesh. At least the team will get a softer start to the season to gear up for a grueling conference schedule.

the caustic portion of the UM fan base. Like those who suggest firing Durkin or torching JH's achievement in year one. They do not accept the amount of culture, system and technique work required by this staff this year. The program was in shambles with no understanding of the work ethic and roster turnover necessary to build a top tier program. This squad will take a huge step by next season. The naysayers don't remember 5-7 with many embarrassments and sheer ineptitude in many games (MSU, Minnie, Rutgers, Utah, Maryland). Let them troll.

Given that this is a long term rebuild... nothing tells me that EL will be a gimme.

Somehow that makes me toxic?

Sorry I happen to not be denial about how MSU is actually a GOOD program that ISN'T going anywhere.

Jesus are Michigan fans in denial. It's pathetic at this point.

Possibly its just that some people are tired of the "maybe next year" that seems to be the status quo for the program. Seriously, we ran Lloyd Carr into retirement because we were sick and tired of 8-4, 9-3 seasons. Now excuses get made left and right. Sooner or later there has to be accountability. OSU didn't have to endure 2 or 3 seasons of mediocrity when Meyer came in.....

When Urbz arrived!  Michigan has been out of phase for quite sometime. A lot of potential top players did not pan out, probably due to coaching.  Harbaugh has to rebuild and re-tool. Don't think we will be an elite team until his fourth season. Appreciate the 8 and 9 win season for a while! It is much better than finishing sub .500 like the past two coaches!

Next year's game at MSU is neither a gimme or sure loss, and suggesting otherwise in either direction is silly.

MSU loses a bundle of starters with the majority coming at extremely key position groups.  No, they aren't going to suddenly become Purdue, but it's not insane to suggest they should be more beatable next season.

It's hard to predict these games the day before they take place yet somehow there's certainty about the way they'll go.

I think we win the Big Ten next year as our trenches should go from 3rd or 4th best in the Big Ten to the top 1 or 2 but I am by no means confident in that prediction - let's see who our starters are at linebacker, at QB, at RB and what our injury situation looks like when the season begins.  There's so many damn variables, but we are on the short list of favorites in the conference next season, despite the difficult road schedule.

are a bunch of BS..How one team IOWA doesnt have to play OSU UM MSU or Penn St is just a complete Joke..and not fair at all...Who you dont play matters as much as who you dont..I liked it better when the divisions were balanced

The way we were out-coached and outplayed today gives me zero faith we can win in columbus. Maybe east lasing, because we obviously played them very close even with the best quarterback they will probably ever have. But i can't imagine waking into columbus and winning. I would so love to be wrong.

Okay that was definitely hyperbole on my part. My point, however, is that this Michigan team is definitely comparable to Meyer's first couple OSU teams. There was a Buckeye fan sitting behind me who said probably a hundred times throughout the 2nd half that "Harbaugh is no Urban Meyer" and I have heard a lot of OSU fans voice this opinion. That is utterly ridiculous.

but remember, I don't think any of those 3 will be better, I think maybe peaked, especially Iowa, they're not gonna have another magical ride like this year.

ANd we are going to only get better as the Harbaugh train gets rolling even more.

For sure we will be better and MSU and Iowa will maybe take a step back. OSU will probably be the same or only slightly worse since it's Urban Meyer. If they are better next year after losing all of their key players on offense, god help us.

We never seem to avoid any of the better teams on the other side (like Ohio State and Michigan State always do).

Northwestern finished 10-2 by the way.

In my opinion, anything more than 1 loss would be disappointing going into the Ohio State game.

The excuses are done for losing to msu.  With the debacle punt, that game is an absolute MUST win.

The hope is that O'Korn is actually as good as the offseason reports said (best QB on the roster according to some Scout Forum insiders)

Morris was not good enough at this point to be the backup. Harbaugh saved him a year just in case he does not work out here. We'll see what happens this spring but if there is no chance for Morris, I'm sure Harbaugh will tell him it is best to transfer if would like playing time. I think the job will be O'Korn's too lose!
