MOD EDIT - while it is significant local news to those of us in southeastern Michigan as well as the Flint area, this thread kind of went down the road of....yeah. - LSA

he signed off on the switch in supply source

hence he's culpable for the consequences

This is sort of like saying if the governor decides to build a highway somewhere and construction workers die as a result of safety shortcuts, the governor is criminally culpable.

People in charge have the right to expect that the people working for them will follow the established procedures.  Had they been, Flint wouldn't have had these problems.

The bureaucracy is very often a completely unaccountable entity, as almost anyone knows who's run afoul of it.  It's rare and refreshing to see the bureaucracy that screwed up be held accountable for it - it's what should've happened in the VA scandal too.

That is some serious business going on there. I would be furious if that happened over here. They would pretty much be crucified if it were my family members deaths and be forced to move away if they weren't charged. People make mistakes but when you have a whole pot that are negligent, that's different. Sorry kids but have to make an example of them and drop the hammer if that's the case. I don't know what the facts are though so I'm sorry if I'm going too far.

This is a serious question and not meant to be sarcastically antagonistic towards Hillary fans/voters: Has she been back to Flint since the Michigan primary election when Bernie surprised all the pollsters by beating her? If she has been back since the primary, I'll be more inclined to believe that her previous visits weren't just the actions of a typical politician pandering for votes.

I think for the first time in a long time, Michigan could be in play. And that could decide the election if things are close in November.

P.S. No politics, eh?

Well, it may be a shit hole to you (and others) but for some it is home...

I grew up there and still have family there who are dealing with this nightmare. I'll be back  in the area (mom now lives half-hour away) next week....and this travesty has been on my mind for months. Will be interesting to get the take of my relatives.

Flint is a MICHIGAN town on a long stretch of hard times, made only worse by this atrocity.

As for your insightful observation: "It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt." Consider this next time before posting.
