I'm not sure what everyone expected, this is about as tough of an early December game that there is and this is a young team. I liked that they were in the game most of the night, considering how poor they shot the ball, and how poor the officiating was in the 1st half. Calm down torch and pitchfork crowd is really what I'm trying to say.

Michigans played one tough ass schedule this season and we havent had a chance to catch our breaths. @ ISU and @ Duke are difficult to play. People forget our toughest nonconference road win last season was Bradley and they won 18 games last season. I dont think last seasons team wins either of these games anyhow. Just be patient they showed they can hang with the best.

GRIII, Morgan, and Horford just do not look improved at all.  Expected for Morgan and Horford, but GRIII has been a huge disappointment.  I actually expected him to be better than THJ, and he's not even close to that.

Especially given that 5 points were outright handed to Duke by the refs in the first half. We lost an NBA backcourt, we're young, they're a top 10 team, and our best players clearly needed a kick in the ass.

This is a tourney team that will have a chance to pull an upset to get to the second weekend. The ceiling of our recent past is not bad for a rebuilding year.

People need to relax its still early and your playing at Duke again i still think will be fine we just got so used to winning last season. Again we will be just fine. Not to mention Big ten aint looking that good this season

I do agree that GRIII looks awful though. Such a disappointment. He gets his dramatic dunk for the game and then settles for jumpers. This whole team needs to drive to the rim more, even if it's not for two points just get in the lane and make the defense collapse.

I learned my lesson last season, could people have been more down on the team when the tournament started? Basketball can go any way and the talent on this team can go plenty far. I'll keep watching and hoping they put it together.

LeVert and McGary looked fine.  Stauskas is obviously hurt.

GR3 continues to look like...nothing.  Literally forgot about him most of the game because he couldn't be less of a factor.

The Arizona game is going to be miserable.  Going on the road during B1G is going to be miserable.

I'm not talking about you - just in general, MGoBlog has not only become emo, we make emo kids cry. So every time we lose a game (even to good opponents) we have a rush of "sky is falling" comments that clog up the blog. I'm not sunshine in a bottle myself, but we played like crap tonight and only lost by 10. I mean, give us an average shooting night (most of our misses were not caused by Duke), take away the bogus 3, and we're either WAAAY closer or we win. I know that didn't happen, but it's hard to stomach this place much anymore.

I WILL concede that if we play this shitty all season, the B1G and Arizona are going to be about as fun as a dong-punch.

I expected a few losses last year.  Last year's team was quite obviously on a different level than this year's team.

A road loss at Duke doesn't spell doom for the rest of the season.  Not at all.  But when you string together the poor opening half versus UMass Lowell with the poor road shooting at Iowa State, Florida State, and Duke and the completely uninspired everything against Charlotte, you start to create an expectation of what this team is going to realistically achieve, at least at this point in time.

No doom or gloom.  Just tapered expectations.  That could change.  But you can't look at the team's performance thus far and expect a 12-6 or better record in B1G play, even with the league looking less formidable than last year.

Leadership? Cohones? Coaching? GRIII doesn't appeared to have improved at all and that is huge; he was expected to be a big piece of the puzzle going forward. They don't look like they have that 'champion' kind of look to them when they are on the road. They need to take big strides if they expect to get to the sweet 16, if even that far.

Even when they got him the ball.  Look at what Perry Ellis did against the Duke frontline.

I know I'm holding McGary to a high standard...but I think it's warranted.  He was facing players he should have dominated, and while he played fine, he didn't dominate them by any means.
