Lost by 10. Wasn't even that close.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:25 PM ^
I'm not sure what everyone expected, this is about as tough of an early December game that there is and this is a young team. I liked that they were in the game most of the night, considering how poor they shot the ball, and how poor the officiating was in the 1st half. Calm down torch and pitchfork crowd is really what I'm trying to say.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:27 PM ^
This is very true. It's just getting frustrating to see the team coming out with very little offensive firepower. This was a very beatable Duke team tonight, they didn't play great. Shame we couldn't take advantage.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:32 PM ^
WIN ALL THE GAMES!!!
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:33 PM ^
Michigans played one tough ass schedule this season and we havent had a chance to catch our breaths. @ ISU and @ Duke are difficult to play. People forget our toughest nonconference road win last season was Bradley and they won 18 games last season. I dont think last seasons team wins either of these games anyhow. Just be patient they showed they can hang with the best.

GRIII, Morgan, and Horford just do not look improved at all. Expected for Morgan and Horford, but GRIII has been a huge disappointment. I actually expected him to be better than THJ, and he's not even close to that.

Wait until OSU plays in the NC and MSU plays in the Rose Bowl.

Time to get a hobby that's as far away from a television or computer as possible.

I can't f'n take it anymore.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:27 PM ^
Just DISSAPEARED...Morgan and Hereford just NONEXISTENT...
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:31 PM ^
Meh. Stauskas may still be injured and Duke hounded him all game long, GRIII never shows up, and I don't know what you expected Morgan and Horford to do since they rarely contribute anything major.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:27 PM ^
Especially given that 5 points were outright handed to Duke by the refs in the first half. We lost an NBA backcourt, we're young, they're a top 10 team, and our best players clearly needed a kick in the ass.
This is a tourney team that will have a chance to pull an upset to get to the second weekend. The ceiling of our recent past is not bad for a rebuilding year.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:35 PM ^
Michigan was outclassed, and the fact is Duke missed a lot of open threes. Michigan made up a chunk of what was once an 18-point deficit in garbage time.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:40 PM ^
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:40 PM ^
Our garbage time offense was the only offense we had all game. Maybe we should have just done that the whole game.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:28 PM ^
Didn't get to see the game, but did get to see this pop up in my feedly when I got home
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:31 PM ^
was his best shot all nite.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:32 PM ^
I'm surprised Duke left it undefended.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:28 PM ^
People need to relax its still early and your playing at Duke again i still think will be fine we just got so used to winning last season. Again we will be just fine. Not to mention Big ten aint looking that good this season
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:30 PM ^
but if you thought the football games against MSU and OSU were ugly, the basketball games are looking even worse.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:36 PM ^
Vermont hung 90 on them. They aren't Duke of the past.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:38 PM ^
Vermont was hitting shots. We were bricking bunnies.

I do agree that GRIII looks awful though. Such a disappointment. He gets his dramatic dunk for the game and then settles for jumpers. This whole team needs to drive to the rim more, even if it's not for two points just get in the lane and make the defense collapse.

Not saying a loss ends the season, but where is the leadership? There is no fire in this team.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:33 PM ^
Seriously. Just stop.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:41 PM ^
Stop what? Speaking the truth? Such high expectations by many on here for a team that lost their leadership. Just be prepared that this season isn't going to end well.

I learned my lesson last season, could people have been more down on the team when the tournament started? Basketball can go any way and the talent on this team can go plenty far. I'll keep watching and hoping they put it together.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:35 PM ^
LeVert and McGary looked fine. Stauskas is obviously hurt.
GR3 continues to look like...nothing. Literally forgot about him most of the game because he couldn't be less of a factor.
The Arizona game is going to be miserable. Going on the road during B1G is going to be miserable.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:38 PM ^
I've got an honest question. After we started 16-0 last season did you expect us to never lose? Why does a road game against DUKE spell doom for the rest of the season on the road? Hell the Arizona game is at home that can easily be a very close game.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:41 PM ^
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:46 PM ^
I don't think a comment like, "Gosh, going on the road in the B1G is going to be brutal," or "GR3 continues to disappear in big games" are uber-reactionary. I think they're pretty safe assumptions.
All negative comments aren't shit-tastic. C'mon now.
December 4th, 2013 at 12:38 AM ^
I WILL concede that if we play this shitty all season, the B1G and Arizona are going to be about as fun as a dong-punch.

December 3rd, 2013 at 11:44 PM ^
I expected a few losses last year. Last year's team was quite obviously on a different level than this year's team.
A road loss at Duke doesn't spell doom for the rest of the season. Not at all. But when you string together the poor opening half versus UMass Lowell with the poor road shooting at Iowa State, Florida State, and Duke and the completely uninspired everything against Charlotte, you start to create an expectation of what this team is going to realistically achieve, at least at this point in time.
No doom or gloom. Just tapered expectations. That could change. But you can't look at the team's performance thus far and expect a 12-6 or better record in B1G play, even with the league looking less formidable than last year.

He had a rough start. I didn't think he played poorly though.
He didn't have a huge impact defensively, but 15 points and 14 rebounds against a top-10 team on the road isn't bad. Especially coming off an injury.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:57 PM ^
He was literally the only rebounding presence we had and did adequate there, but he looked more like Jordan Morgan in the paint on offense than the McGary that abused Jeff Withey. Very underwhelming performance
December 4th, 2013 at 12:00 AM ^
Yeah a lot of his points came at the end and he wasn't full-on NCAA McGary, but I'd hardly call his rebounding presence "adequate". It's an absolute asset on this year's team.
December 4th, 2013 at 12:03 AM ^
he can't pass himself the ball. and he was a beast on the boards and the guys he guarded did nothing.
December 4th, 2013 at 12:22 AM ^
Even when they got him the ball. Look at what Perry Ellis did against the Duke frontline.
I know I'm holding McGary to a high standard...but I think it's warranted. He was facing players he should have dominated, and while he played fine, he didn't dominate them by any means.
December 3rd, 2013 at 11:50 PM ^
15 pts and 14 reb in 29 min. i will take that every nite. GRIII, Morgan and Hortford, on the other hand, combined for a grand total of 4 rebounds. pathetic against that relatively small lineup of Duke.
