What kind of alternate universe are we living in?
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:13 PM ^
And they almost blew it in classic Lions fashion.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:18 PM ^
Former buckeye Malcolm Jenkins blocks the fg attempt but stupidly blocks a Lion in the back during the return. This cost the Eagles about 30 yards. They would have been in fg range to tie the game had it not been for the needless penalty.
Lions catch a break and get a big road win!!
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:13 PM ^
Unbelievable. I never thought I'd see the day when the Lions looked more competent than Michigan.
Edit: Nevermind, didn't the Loins sneak their way into the playoffs during the Hoke years? Either way, I never would have expected a 2-0-1 start, especially with the Eagles being one of those three games. Nice.
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:14 PM ^
I texted my buddy this exact same thing. I'm like the Lions look... competent?
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:15 PM ^
Well I’ll be. Hire the human meatball for 2020.
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:17 PM ^
The Lions won because the Eagles back up wideouts dropped 7 passes and had 3 OPIs against them.
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:19 PM ^
Kind of like why Kyle Orton couldn’t lead Purdue to victory in AA with all the dropped passes
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:25 PM ^
Maybe but the Lions could have come out flat fumbling it around and collapsing on defense. They did neither - even when they had adversity with a blocked kick. At least they have some heart if not a lot of talent.
September 22nd, 2019 at 6:30 PM ^
This logic is idiotic. Of course the TEAM that EXECUTES better wins. Doesn’t matter who any player on that team is
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:22 PM ^
Eagles down Desean Jackson and Alshon Jeffrey. Still a good win for the Lions to come into the linc and beat us. I would happily take Nico, TB and DPJ over the scrubs we got at receiver now
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:22 PM ^
The Lions got out-Lion'd.
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:22 PM ^
Things are bad when the Lions are by far the best team in the state of Michigan
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:37 PM ^
Don't sleep on the other Eagles in Washtenaw County—they're 3-1 and have one more win in the Big Ten than Michigan does.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:00 PM ^
It took a blocked punt for a TD for EMU to barely beat a meh FCS team in Central Connecticut team.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:10 PM ^
You’re harshing my buzz
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:23 PM ^
I’m more proud (less ashamed?) to admit to being a Lions fan than a Michigan grad right now.
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:24 PM ^
Loins!
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:26 PM ^
More prepared? The Eagles should've won that game. Dude dropped a game winning TD in the last minute. Glad the Lions won, but it's going to be ugly next week against the Chiefs.
September 22nd, 2019 at 11:23 PM ^
Dropped passes are part of the game, and to be fair our secondary was playing okay and disrupting their receivers to some extent.
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:28 PM ^
Good win. Take it and move on.
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:34 PM ^
If lions somehow beat Kansas City.... that would be such a lions thing to do. Tie the cardinals and somehow go on a 3 game win streak against some tough ass teams
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:43 PM ^
It seems that nearly every season, the Lions beat at least one or two teams that they shouldn't, and lose to one or two (at least) that they shouldn't.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:22 PM ^
Like when they beat the Patriots last year....
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:36 PM ^
DET plays KC next, then GB (at Lambeau) and then MIN ...so Lions fans may want to start preparing for a 2-3-1 record in three weeks
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:41 PM ^
Disagree. They've actually looked better than both GB and Minnesota thus far.
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:45 PM ^
You're vastly overestimating Kirk Cousins
September 22nd, 2019 at 6:22 PM ^
Not that I have an abundance of confidence in the Lions, but I heard a lot of 0-2-1 predictions after the tie with Arizona.
September 22nd, 2019 at 6:33 PM ^
It's still a hell of a lot better than the 1-5 or 0-6 some people were thinking going into opening week.
September 23rd, 2019 at 4:32 AM ^
espn had the lions starting off 0-11 lmaoo
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:38 PM ^
Just enjoying the ride. Yeah, the season will probably fizzle out eventually, but we can at least look forward to next week's titanic clash between Pat Mahomes and Matt Patricia.
September 22nd, 2019 at 8:01 PM ^
The only thing stopping Mahomes is Mahomes. Mahomes is on fire and is even better than last season which is amazing. He eviscerated two quality defenses in Jacksonville and Ravens without breaking a sweat.
September 23rd, 2019 at 3:53 AM ^
It'd be nice if Patricia could just sit on Mahomes and stay there.
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:43 PM ^
I wouldnt call the lions composed. The only reason lions won was due to the eagles wrs being out and the backups dropping 7 passes of which 2 were tds
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:49 PM ^
A win is a win. The lions gifted the eagles with a TD with two PF penalties. Stafford threw a shit pass to Marvin Jones that would have ended the game long before the missed field goal
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:00 PM ^
Ill definately take the win. But the difference is we typically shoot ourselves in the foot with penalties and missed throws, the eagles dont normally make those mistakes. An ugly win is still a win i guess. Just dont get how players rave about patricias defenses yet it seems we cant generate any kind of consistent pass rush and qbs have all day to find receivers
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:50 PM ^
Thanks I was dvr-ing it but now will delete.
September 22nd, 2019 at 4:52 PM ^
Their wide receivers run routes and get open and the qb throws to them. It's amazing!
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:02 PM ^
You're welcome Lions fans. I made that happen. In weeks I pick them to lose - they win. In weeks I pick them to win - they lose. This has been going on for 30+ years now.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:02 PM ^
....and they still gave the Eagles a few opportunities towards the end.
That said, yeah, the Lions winning on the road make this bizarro weekend for me.
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:09 PM ^
Crazy. Can you imagine a world where at least you competed. Led by your general, on the field. We would pay for that effort. We pay for our university. Who knows where the $ go. Not to the three stooges of football
September 22nd, 2019 at 5:22 PM ^
Thanks for the spoiler...
September 22nd, 2019 at 7:58 PM ^
Same old lions
September 22nd, 2019 at 10:48 PM ^
This is totally OT, but way to go Lions!
