Oh well. Good luck.
I feel like something's happening tonight though...
Haha, good timing on his part. Will minimize the backlash from idiot Michigan fans.
We just lost a top 100 recruit to Ohio...and it's not near the top of anyone's list of cares. First time ever?
Excellent pre-National Championship post.
Hey, what's going on in East Lansing?
Yea, I'm being that guy. Sorry. I really need to get out of the office and begin the pre-game festivities.
Focus! Dude! Focus! We got us a National Championship to win today and you want to put up that crap . . .
Don't shit on the messenger. If this post were about Kyle Berger committing to Michigan, you would feel different. Relevant news and by next week it will be old news.
I hope Mitch practiced his free throw shitting since they might deploy hack-a-mcgary.
Who cares, it's still basketball season!!
...Just because I never thought I'd say that
It's about this time where I quietly sing "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" to myself until tip-off.
EDIT: First double post.
I feel like Donnie when he doesn't get the 7 pin to fall. This is weird.
Shut the fuck up, Donny.
Is that right? Your first ever? Thats pretty damn impressive!
Yea... I feel like I just blew a bowl or post season streak or something. I'm going to go cool off for a while, maybe stop posting so much.
I kept telling people not to talk to you, just leave you alone and let you go... oh well
He seemed like a nice prospect for Michigan to nab, but one can't blame a kid for choosing where his heart and mind are at. See you in November.
Is this a surprise at all? I have not really kept up with 2014 recruiting so far.
Not necessarily a surprise, but it seems like he was the staff's top target at SLB.
It's so strange how the 2013 and 2014 classes have flip flopped for Michigan and Ohio State. They got Bell, Apple, Bosa, and a bunch of other national guys while we scooped up all of the Ohio guys and they couldn't stop talking about their "national focus" under Meyer. Well this year they're getting all of the Ohio guys while we're pulling in Cole from Florida, Mone from Utah, and we very well could land Peppers, Hand, and a whole bunch of other national guys. Just weird, very weird paradigm.
Damn....
Ah well.

Man...even though we have a NATIONAL CHAMPIOSHIP to play tonight this still kinda stings. Berger was our top choice for the SAM linebacker position. We were also starting to give a long look at Hubbard. Now they are both going to ohio. Unbelievable. Awful. Does anyone know who else we are looking at for that position?
Do you know how many LB's Ohio St. takes this year?
OSU grabbed 2 SAM LBs this weekend that UM was after, Magnus (sorry to steal your thunder, big guy) suspected that Berger might fall to UM after Hubbard committed to OSU this weekend.
guess not. methinks UM still wants some sort of SAM LB in the 2014 class to go along with Ferns
Gosh Darn double-posts.
tl; dr
We have more pressing matters at hand. This news won't affect me until tomorrow if we lose, and til 2025 if we win.
Interesting that this seemed a clear case of Meyer going after a kid who seemed all Blue at various points. Wonder if the fact that he's from St. Ignatius is as important as his skill. He seemed like the odd man out for Buckeyes with the other guys we were eyeballing. As previous posts have noted, though, has to be hard to focus on this with a natty in the mix.
Berger wasn't ever really considered all Blue.
And if I recall correctly he was actually considered an Ohio lean with Michigan behind, at least until he visited AA.
As great as Berger is, we'll find another. This hurts a bit extra because I fantasized he would be the 2nd coming of Jake Ryan, an unnatural combination of super strength and super speeds that explodes opposing ball carriers. In reality, this person doesn't exist so all I can say about this is meh.
While he's a good recruit, chances are he's not another Jake Ryan.
Love that it doesn't even matter right now.
Can there be a middle ground between being a jerk fan who wishes ill on a high schooler and wishing him good luck? Because although I would not wish harm to befall him, I also cannot wish any Buckeye good luck. In fact, I hope that every Buckeye recruit underperforms and has terrible luck when playing against Michigan especially.
I hope he's a major disappointment on the field, works hard in the classroom, gets his degree, and goes on to a very nice non-football career and successful private life.
How's that?
Already have Ferns in as a LB. The staff will find someone else. It's not like Berger was an irreplaceable type of player. Would've been nice to get him, but oh well.
Oh well, best to him except on the last Saturday in November.
Go Blue!
When posting about players that commit to other schools, please include where he's from, rankings, Michigan offer/interest. Don't assume everyone knows every uncommitted guy.
I'm gathering that he is top 100, Michigan interest, from Ohio?
Thanks in advance for putting this information in the origial post.
He has visited Michigan and was one of Michigan's biggest targets, so you should probably know him. Some recruits get mentioned on here enough that the intro isn't necessary every time. He's not an obscure recruit. It has been mentioned for months that he was down to UM and OSU.
I guess I was under the assumption that we were still neck and neck with him. I haven't seen any indication that he was going to commit to OSU, epseically since he seemed to enjoy his visit to UM and wasn't committing to going the OSU's spring game. Maybe he has just been silently leaning towards OSU the whole time and doing his due dilligence. I thought we really had a chance to get him...oh well. I will enjoy beating him & hope Ferns goes on to show he's the better college LB.
I don't think there are many times when news like this affects the entire mgocommunity so lightly. No shits could be given right now
We only need one more good linebacker to fill out this class. Not a big concern, we'll land another 4* guy later this year.
