This is how you make a cheap shot artist pay. .  .Fire the team up and call the next play for the guy who got hit.  I love how Coach Howard inferred that Davison cost his team the game.

We have a special group.

Can someone give me a hint as to how to make my link more user friendly?

reminds me of a game last year where our youngest daughter (very sweet, very determined) and another girl went after a loose ball in a hoops game.  daughter came up with it, down the court she goes and dishes an assist while the other girl was on the court crying.  i was standing next to one of the guys i have coached football with for a decade+ and i said, "can you tell which girl has 5 brothers?"

she has milked plenty in her day. our girls are better at it than our boys. oldest daughter was the fastest milker on the planet and would sit on the milking stool, cross-legged, and engage in a conversation about, say, english literature like it was no big deal as she milked at light speed.   pro-tip: on a cold morning milking is the better chore since the teets are warm and will keep your hands warm.

and unless we're going to relive genesis 18 (sarah and abraham, 100 yrs old), i don't think mrs XM and i will be blessed with any more children.

you laugh, but that is a constant prayer.  i told them that they need to go find some great spouses and bring them home and start having babies.  mama and i will help, and since i'm a licensed builder that i'd build them houses at a price they would never beat....a number suspiciously close to $0.   we'll see how many/if any take us upon that offer.  tune in next decade for an update.

I'm pretty sure you didn't mean to imply this, but my first thought when reading this was that life sure is different on the farm....

Sounds like my girls. Oldest one started in goal for 4 seasons in HS. One season, she dove for a rolling ball through the 18 and got tangled with an opponent trying to slide kick it in. My kid got kicked in the nose and wound up grabbing the ball and the other girls arm. Snapped the opponent's arm and finished the game with two tampons stuffed up her nose. Nobody ever entered the 18 yard box the rest of the game.

Younger daughter was playing travel softball and got line drived in the thigh on the mound. Thigh swelled up and turned all black & blue, so she basically couldn't walk. I went in to take her out and she threw her glove at me and told me to to back into the dugout. Proceeded to finish pitching 3 more scoreless innings to seal a win.

Don't mess with Yooper girls. Damn, I miss those days.

Just checked to see if Davison has a Wikipedia page. He does. Check first paragraph: “ he averages 2.3 dirty plays per game.” Also check his position. :) Can someone with better “tech” skills then me (I am an “older” M blogger) post this as a link so it can be memorialized. Maybe one of you snuck these things in there. If so, good work! Thanks for your help.

What makes it obviously dirty is that Davison looked back and then drilled him in the face with that off elbow. Most players use an off arm to get off their shot, not that Smith was a block threat or anything.

More than the look back, which can be a basketball move, to shoot a layup with your right hand while jamming your left elbow up and to the side affects your balance, making the shot harder.

No one—except maybe an actor in a basketball commercial who's never played basketball—would shot a layup while chicken-winging the off-elbow.

Yes, this. I know it could sound like  bitter opposing fan but sometimes breaking things down all the way like we're doing helps paint the picture in its entirety.  And this is a perfect example.  Simply put, no one ever would go up for a layup in the fashion he did unless there was a person's face in the way one wanted to clear out of the way.

There was no "going up in a manner expecting to get fouled" or anything of the nature.  He truly extened that arm and elbow in a  completely non-basketball manner.  Fuck Brad Davison.

Basketball play...  That was as much a 'basketball play' as Tatum's hit on Darryl Stingley was a 'football play'.  Glad Juwan handled it better than I probably would have!

(BTW, Tatum's hit wasn't illegal by the standards of yesteryear even though it's long been considered a brutal cheap shot.)

Would still love to know what Juwan said to Greg Gard during their postgame fist bump.  Juwan was pointing down towards the basket where that play happened and seemed to be the one doing all the talking.

You dont need theatrics or to throw a tantrum to make a point. I doubt he tore into Gard as you said as well. But I do think he mentioned something along the lines of him not considering what Davison did as a basketball play.

Also the fact that Davison starts and gets playing time over Jonathan Davis is pretty hilarious. Davis should be getting 30+ mpg while Davison subs in at <10 mpg. Wisconsin still refusing to start and play freshman who are obviously far more talented than the upperclassmen in 2021 is funny to me.

It looked pretty clear to me. He fist bumped first, looked like he was being cordial -- but then pointed to the spot that it happened and lifted his mask a bit to be able to speak clearly. He didn't look heated, but probably said he didn't appreciate what happened or something. It definitely wasn't a Tom Crean blowup or anything.

The thing to watch is what Davison does to Eli after he knocks Smith to the ground. The replay typically ends after he elbows Smith, but in the next few seconds after the miss, Davison goes after the rebound (I don't think the ball even hit the rim) and he smacks Eli hard as well.  Basketball play my ass...
