Just watch this video. Cowherd talks Michigan-OSU rivalry
Didn't see this on the board yet. Cowherd talks about Buckeyes sense of humor. Or lack there of.
Can someone embed?
Yeah, he's still a douche.
I agree. But this video is hilarious. I love all the negativity around the OSU program. Their fans are finally paying for being their fans.
Agree he's a douche but he puts on an enjoyable show in that he brings up SPORTS relavent topics that I am interesting in hearing about. Other sports guys go off topic too often or have some type of corny inside jokes that only some listeners get. Him and the Freddie Coleman show are my favorites.
I was hoping he'd advocate for the pro-Ohio "death threats are totally justified" perspective. I guess the good news is that Bayless and Stephen A are likely still available to fill that role. Or perhaps Craig James and Pam Ward can be brought back along with Matt Millen and Chris Spielman for the most ridonkulous segment in the history of time. And let's throw it to Terrelle Pryor for a closing, "everybody kills people".
Good night and good luck.
At least we know that T.P.'s segment would be well researched.
"If one would just go and do something with out researching first they could’ve missed something that could have later benefited later on or benefited one more then the other"
Eh, I could find plenty of worse ESPN personalities
Erin Andrews. Just because
Jalen effing Rose and no one else.
I use to think the same thing Brown Bear, untill my local am radio switched to Fox Sports Radio. Fox is unlistenable.
Okay...I guess he may have some redeeming value...today anyway
Hey, look, I'm Colin Cowherd -- I'll always take an extreme view on any issue so you either love me or hate me, and my ratings will go through the roof due to my Jim Rome-ness.
I think more of Skip Bayless in that matter. Now that guy is a complete ass-clown.
He's a poor-man's version of each, so to speak. That's a good thing,
Just reading the whole thing?
It is just a radio show that is simulcast on like ESPNU or something nobody watches. I'd bet that he doesn't wear pants.
It wasn't a radio show, it was a book on tape.
I'd have more respect for the no pants thing.
I'm about 90% sure he was. Every talk show radio host has a loose script that they follow. He's probably just got a list of all of the talking points that he wants to go over so that he doesn't forget them. If you listen to 97.1 (Karsch and Gator or Jaime and Wojo, everyone else sucks), they say all the time "coming up at 7:41" or some other ridiculously accurate time. It's just so that they aren't going on the air and winging it. It's really no different than taking notes on stage with you when you are giving a speech.
As for the pausing, everyone does it, but it's not as noticeable on the radio because you can't see what he's doing.
I mean, I know you're right about the radio show set up. Admittedly as much as sometimes it seems they do, they do work more than the 3 hours on air or whatever, they do prep and set up for the next show and aren't winging it everyday. (An aside: I "love" how Karsch teases a segment for say, 11:30, and then doesn't actually get to it till 11:41...that's the way to keep an audience). So they all do it. But this one seemed to me more stilted, and reading, then normal. But I don't listen to Cowherd that much.
I did listen to it again while not looking at the screen. And it doesn't seem as odd. There are still some long radio pauses, and a big "uhm", and the end really....seems...like.... he's....reading... but there is a big difference when you can't see him staring right at the screen. I guess it just sounds different in that he's not taking talking point notes as much as reading it word for word. But that might be his style. I mean Ira on WTKA owes MGoBlog royalties because he basically takes his points and arguments right off of the site. So it's not unique. It just seems moreso here. But the visual is a big part of it.
If you're maligning people for reading from a script, then you might as well say that every president since Teddy Roosevelt was a poor public speaker too.
Literally, every single president since 1912 has had their inaguration speech pre-written. (TBH, I don't know about their other speeches, I've just done research on this topic.)
Regardless of that, I don't get what's wrong with doing your homework to make your presentation better. I'm down for a guy who can wing it, but smart people don't usually leave public presentations up to chance.
You need to go back and re-read my post and the one I responded to. I was defending reading off of a script.
Seemed weird that he paused so many times
I think so too
He's 100% right about the Michigan/Ohio rivalry -
I actually like Cowherd. Sometimes he doesn't know what he's talking about (which is true of every TV personality), but I generally find him funny. And he makes a good co-host of Sportsnation with Michelle Beadle.
because no one pays more attention to midwestern offensive line recruiting than colin cowherd, national sports radio guy.
He obviously read a Michigan blog write up calling LTT "great," then passed that unattributed assessment off as his own.
Double
Well, I'm sure Cowherd just assumed that since LTT committed to us that he's a great player. No analysis necessary.
You would probably bitch if Cowherd said he was an 'OK' or 'bad' player. Take the complement. LTT has an offer list that justifies being called great relative to his peers-high school football players. Even if Cowherd knows nothing more than he is a UM commit this early under this coaching staff, that seems to be enough to justify that term
was just so generic, he didn't say his position, what state he is from, his high school or anything. just a "great player." like when someone asks me about a restaurant i have never been to and i don't want to hear them rave about it, i just say "yes, i have been there, it is great." a follow up question like "how did you like the pizza?" would be answered with "it was great." even though it is a pizza place.
hey colin, what to you think of LTT's receiving skills?
He could have researched, for his national audience, the exact specifics of LTT's footwork, stance, pad-level, and even his girlfriend's friend's friends.
But then again, the rest of the world doesn't really care.
/stop taking everything so seriously.
Bucknuts are like Raider fans without all the class and intelligence.
Cant tell if high.
Logan is going to get interviewed on Sportscenter at 3 pm.
Wow, a 17 year old sure is getting a lot of attention. I wonder what Hoke thinks about this. Don't know whether this is good or bad, but at least it's making buckeye nation look bad.
I'm sure Hoke likes the publicity but my gut tells me he probably did not like the burning of the letter. I thought it was great but also think it is a little immature. That being said LTT is 17 so he can be immature.
I don't look at it as immaturity as much as a little harmless fun. It was a statement. I'm glad he did it. He stood up and said STOP RECRUITING ME AND MY FRIEND MCCRAY. I probably would have done the same thing if Urban Meyer was sending me shit and knocking on my door constantly.
there being this much fuss when Devin G. did it. What is the big stink about? Seriously, I burn junk mail all the time!
Haha other than the burning your own mail all the time part, exactly.
Just more attention to twitter in recruiting since 4 years ago, I guess.
I think you missed my point. I was commenting on how I thought Hoke would not be too keen on the idea. I have no problem with what he did although I feel it was a little immature. If the roles were reversed and I was 17 I would probably burn the letter and post it on FB or Twitter. If LTT was a boring 30 year old he would laugh like I did and think it was a little immature.
I'm watching but haven't seen it. He tweeted he was getting interviewed on ESPN at 3 so I figured it would be on at 3. Probably going to be a bit delayed, maybe on College Football Live.
EDIT: Time is 4 PM, not 3.
He tweeted he is getitng interviewed at 3 on ESPN (don't know if it is College Football Live, Outside the Lines, or Sportscenter). CFL is at 3:30
Also, not creepy I'm following him because I am his age
