"Two classy guys?" Beilein is a classy guy; Izzo is a reptile who knows when to "smile pretty" for the camera.
I've met Izzo numerous times. He is classy and a stand up guy. Taking his time out of his schedule to do this is awesome. Just because he is the coach for one of our rivals, doesn't mean he is a bad human being.
Hey John, who's your little leprachaun-looking friend?
Many fans have a difficult time with the fact the coaches of rival schools usually get along just fine. They have the best idea of what the other coach is going through with their own fans and rival fans spracking off.
It is a rivalry, but Tom Izzo is a great coach who does right by his players and the community. Izzo does not need to show up at the hospital to keep his job - he's doing it for the right reasons, just like Beilein is. No need to smack talk the guy at an event like this. There's any number of snarky things we could say about Roy Williams too, but I'm not saying any of them in this thread.
Say all the snarky things you want. No UNC athletes will be able to read it.

Very nice....always impressed by how much these coaches and players give of themselves for sick children.
Great man, great coach. However, as an aside, I do have trouble saying Izzo has class..I mean I know he does most of the time, but his whining and distorting just piss me off.
I think this is the first time I am seeing izzo not red faced yelling at one of the kids on his team while standing 37 feet on the court
you do know that Izzo has a life and personality outside of basketball? I too have issues with Izzo on the court, but he is a friendly, class guy off the court.
but if I am calling someone a "class act" I would expect it to be in all areas. Does he win; yes, does he run a clean program; probably, is he a good coach; yes, does he do good things in the community; yes
But when I look at the way coaches like Beilein conduct themselves on the court vs izzo there is a clear diffference in the two only one of which I would define as a class act.
you apparently have a very high standard. Tom runs a clean program, which is a class act to me. The part you (and I) object to is really just the entertainment part of basketball.
Where does he fit in based on your criteria of "class act" with some of his on field conduct?
two great coaches who respect eachother, who love their community and want to see it thrive. Awesome stuff.
Havent been back since. Well, when i was 12 my cousin and I used to ride bikes over there from his house in Berkley and oogle the cars in the Doctors parking lot. There was a Testarossa that gave me a funny feeling in my shorts
i have always liked izzo. as a fellow yooper, he runs a clean program, wins a lot, and he does do stuff like this.
Nice photobomb, Izzo.
Beilein even sat down so Izzo can look taller.
I love it. Thanks for posting these pics.
Thanks for sharing. Love the pics.
Looks like Beilein has a decent swing. Nice foward lean and weight transfer, head over the ball, hips and wrists through. Could keep his left arm a little straighter. I'm betting Beilein has great old man golf game.
I've talked to people who met Izzo. They say he is legitimately a decent person. His personality isn't nearly as offputting as his football counterpart. Izzo seems like a guy you'd like to have a beer with. Dantonio seems like a guy who would cause you to mix beer and oxycontin after talking with him.

every single smile, on the coaches, the kids, and the parents seems completely genuine and enthusiastic. There will be lots of time for Izzo-hate come late-Fall. Nuthin' now though. Good on all the guys who went and saw those kids and clearly enjoyed doing it.
Not sure if this is /s but yeah, I am pretty sure that is Roy Williams. At least I think so! Spitting image if not.
Cool stuff. It's things like this that actually force me to like Izzo just a little.
