JJ McCarthy getting in on NIL

SIAP but JJ looks to be taking advantage of the NIL, and looks to have himself a DirectTV sponsorship.   I've also seen Hunter Dickinson and Eli Brooks with branded clothing. Any other NIL moves by Michigan athletes anyone has seen?

There’s nothing like streaming every live game, every Sunday afternoon with https://t.co/4kVZMdVQlp. I’m teaming up with @DIRECTV to give college students an even crazier deal this season. Use the link above and promo code “YOKE” for an extra 10% off! pic.twitter.com/gNuARuW9G9

Wondering what the landscape of NIL is like in the next few years.

JJ only has 24k followers, but because NIL is new, this is newsworthy. It gets retweeted by beat writers, it gets posted to MGoBlog, etc. DIRECTV is getting a ton more eyes on this advertisement simply because NIL is so new.

It is smart advertising IMO though. While I might not click on the link and subscribe, next time I'm looking at cable providers/streaming services I may think "well DIRECTV sponsors Michigan athletes, maybe I should check them out".

Yea this is notable today but it probably won't be in a few years. Additionally, I doubt it will be that lucrative for JJ. It's likely an affiliate deal where he will make a cut of each new subscriber he brings. Given his limited reach and the deal restrictions (college students only, who are notoriously cheap), I can't imagine this being a huge money maker.

Exactly, I'm not personally going to get DirectTv, but they do get some positive vibes I'll remember when I am looking for a streaming/cables ervice.

I brung up Players Trunk, because even though I don't particularly like the designs, I might buy a Hunter or Brooks t-shirt just to support the players.
