Totally agree

Some poster on here, sorry cant remember username (maybe TK?), is apparently close to Jim and said those rumors/talks of folks wanting him fired really bothered him.  So he could very well be saying to himself "yeah.... im going to make everyone sweat over that shit"

As he should after what he did this year

Hope you stay coach, it definitely feels like a new beginning.

I count myself as a Harbaugh defender over the years (I believe I've demonstrated that a few times on this blog, but even more so with some UM fans I know in person... some of whom still think we are better off with someone else even now).  I don't blame him for making his doubters sweat a bit, but I hope he doesn't allow the uncertainty to start adversely affecting the program itself.

I don't get the outrage over Harbaugh being on the hot seat last year.  Objectively, he deserved it.

His prior record against ranked opponents, ranked opponents on the road, Bowl Games, against Sparty, against OSU....They were not good.  If Jim Harbaugh was Michigan's AD and he hired a coach at a premium and that coach put up his results from the first 6 years, I'm sure Harbaugh would not find that acceptable.

Now, Harbaugh was given an extra year and boy did he deliver.  Harbaugh has the balance of power in his hands.  Just as I had no problem with him being on the hot seat, I have no problem with him using his new power to leverage the best deal for him possible.

The truly amusing part to me is reading that same blog brain trust yammer on about "there were doubters", when the biggest whiners could be found in their own mirror.

I expect every year with Harbaugh to be undefeated or near enough before The Game. He stayed with Brown too long, that really seemed to be most of the problem.

Brown's defense was an issue in 2019 and (especially) 2020, but you're glossing over a whole host of years-long offensive problems.  I will grant that he tried hard to fix many of those problems - OC's and their varied offensive schemes that didn't work out; and underperforming QB's.  But there were also game management issues, clock issues, strategy questions, player (non)usage (Chris Evans, etc), tempo, etc.  Many of those were resolved this season.

The three year trend from the end of 2018, the non-competitive games against every good team on the schedule in 2019, and the 2020 collapse, was not good.  There was little hope for the season we got this year.  All of that pressure he had last year was earned.

And he shed it all off with this one season.

I love it too and yes we do deserve it.

I think he's happy in A2 with his Dad and Mom right nearby and probably wouldn't uproot and move his kids unless it was a perfect situation in the NFL.

But we have to get this NIL situation figured out and squared away so that we once again recruit at the same level or better than the Nuts.  There is no reason why it shouldn't be like the old days when were right there with them.

My day is much better when people say "excellent post, Robbie. Please post more of your profoundly insightful analysis." Yes, truly beats getting negged to death.

I admit, however, that people praising my profound analysis has never happened. But I can imagine.

We're not pursuing any additional kids that are waiting to sign on the 1st week in February ? There are still a few big-time, blue chip recruits that teams like Alabama, Georgia, OSU, and Texas A&M (top 4 in the 2022 class) are still waiting on in the 2022 class.

And don't kid yourself, if a coach is constantly being rumored every year to be leaving, other schools will start to use it against him. Harbaugh needs to shut the rumors down

I'd be utterly shocked if Harbaugh isnt coaching UM football in 2022.

Harbaugh's sticking around.  I think he's letting the talking-heads ramble about him leaving to perhaps help him re-negotiate his UM contract.

Harbaugh has proven he deserves his old salary, maybe a touch more.  Get rid of all the bonuses with the lower base salary, and give Harbaugh back his $9mil a year.
