is so random at this point. It really comes down to whether somebody on the committee feels strongly one way or another about us. Truth is(though many on here will auto-disagree), we should be comfortably in but we are not a trendy team this year. 21-12, 4 ranked wins, conference semis. If we are not it it is absurd but tells me that the committee either doesn't know their shit and/or has an agenda.

That the media has been down on UM but I believe the commitee that has looked into the details of the resume are going to be much higher on UM than the media. I'm predicting Michigan will be seeded a lot better than we expect.

To demonstrate I'm not "auto-disagreeing" I'll make a couple of suggestions how a team with the exact same resume' you cite could avoid sweating out the selection process on "the bubble": DON'T play so many #200+ or whatever non-conference teams. DON'T have virtually every loss vs a ranked opponent be by 20+ points. DON'T (and hopefully this one's already taken care of for the future) wear such Fugly shorts! Suggestions for a more stress-free Selection Sunday

Jerry Palm also had UNC as a 3 seed yesterday before they beat UVA. He's clueless.

Lunardi changing his tune on Michigan is a very good sign. I'm sure he has some committee members giving him some info. and for him to do a complete 180 overnight on Michigan's chances bodes well, imo.

I have no expectations of going far but If we can just get into the tourney It would take the sting out of what was a disappointing season. That win over Indiana Should have done it...Anything that happens after that is Pure Gravy....I just want to see another appearance added on to Michigans all time tourney appearances when they introduce the team at the start of the game...

That it looks like we might do it has turned today from a depressing one to a optomistic one

I'm calling it now, we're a 10 seed and headed out to Spokane. Why? Because it's only a 5 hour drive from my house in Portland.

Seriously though, when I look at bracket matrix I could totally see us getting slotted above the teams currently on the 10 line (South Carolina, WSU, VCU, Pitt).

I heard one of the committee members say yesterday that there were only a few at large spots still up for grabs. That could be really bad for Michigan, or it could mean we were solidly in the field after beating Indiana. I guess we'll find out in a few hours.

Our worst loss is to #73.  Our second worst loss is to #42.  Both on the road, and to strong programs with lots of recent success nationally.  On both ends of the resume we are the strongest team on the bubble.  Really shouldn't be any doubt about our getting in unless the committee fucks things up.

I guarantee Michigan fans are the only ones who care that our wins are against the bottom half of the B10. When the torurnament starts, no one will care about it. Next year, no one will say anything about it.

We are a hard, unconventional team to prepare for with short notice if you are not familiar with us.  Along with our streaky 3-point shooting, we are the kind of team that can easily go on a tournament run.  I certainly would not want to play us in the early rounds of the NCAAs.

actually seems to have developed his own "philosophy" of tournament selections around keeping Michigan out THIS year. Hate that I can't enjoy the hoops today without talking heads spouting bullshit. The "bubble talk" is actually too much of a thing around this time of year now.

You are right, he just said all of the bubble teams have bad losses and have proven they can lose to anyone, so that is not a consideration. Then started praising Monmouth who lost to 3 200+ teams. I was scratching my head trying to figure out how Michigan has proved they can lose to anyone when UM worst loss is on the road to a rival and fringe bubble team?

I think the talent level at OSU is a little different than at similarly rated RPI schools like IUPU-Fort Wayne, UC Irvine, BYU, and Alabama.  Games against them count the same in the math, but I don't think any of those programs are running out an entire lineup full of blue-chip recruits like the Buckeyes do.

Doesn't matter this year. Michigan is the "anti- team" this year. We are that team people are loving to hate. It rotates, it doesn't carry over year to year, and it is hard to explain when you are that team, but it is UM this year.

I don't think public perception will have anything to do with what actually happens in the room.  Maybe that's wishful thinking, but it would be a major fuck-up by the committee if this team was kept out.
