Totally agree on Long making a needless statement, but dude, go look at the talent on the last 4 teams Carr had.  They were significantly more talented than Michigan's team of today.

Thank you Coach Carr for 1997...Eternally grateful...but Carr did less with more than any Michigan Coach in recent history.  They had silly talent.  Carr just became a microcosm of what Michigan has become...stubborn, stuck in the past, playing catch up, making decisions to enter current times way too late.

It doesn't matter who says this stuff...I specifically remember Charles Woodson saying that Michigan needs to prepare more for OSU before the 2018 season. Guess what? People still criticized him. Charles Freaking Woodson...Heisman trophy winner and national champion.

Guess what? Two of our biggest losses in the history of the rivalry have happened since then. Maybe he was on to something?

People criticized our freaking head coach right now for criticizing the academics of the program in 2007.

There will always be a faction of fans that refuses to take any criticism of the program.

Saying "you need to prepare more" is just lazy, though.  There's nothing to back it up beyond the guy saying it was a star decades ago when college football was way different.  Like, if you're going to effectively say the coaches and players are dumb and lazy, give specifics.  What should they be doing better?  What coachable changes should they make?  He's a famous alum with an immense amount of football knowledge; if he's going to say that during a pre/post-game show then he should feel free to say the next 10 or 20 words that describes what he means.  Otherwise, it is just a guy mad that the school he really likes isn't as good at football as another program and that sucks.

The last 2 losses to OSU in my opinion are far worse than APP State. Also, 18/20 losses against OSU is bad too. Keep being naive about Harbaugh. He processes kids out of the program. Kids claim if you’re hurt you’re dead to him. As a 40 year fan of the team, it is depressing to think we are stuck with this guy until he decides to leave. I’m actually happy to see guys (former players) come out and talk. For the record, I’ve been a huge supporter of Harbaugh until I saw how he handled the qb position this year. Shae was definitely not prepared to start this year and he gets the start without any pressure to be yanked. DCaff getting hurt saved him from having to deal with any public pressure.

You being there doesn’t change my perspective. Continually getting pounded by OSU(our rival) is far worse than losing a meaningless non conference, opening game. Yeah, it’s embarrassing. I cringe every time I think about that game. I remember running back in the house after Manningham (I think it was him) caught the long pass to put us in fg position.  Even PSU almost lost to them this year. But not even being close in most of the last few years has been frustrating. At least Tressel never ran it up like Meyer and now Day has.

I'm on your side.  The 2018 loss to OSU was significantly more embarrassing than the loss to App State.  That program produced multiple FCS National Championships and Amani Edwards was Denard Robinson before he even got to Michigan.  No, Michigan shouldn't have lost the game but the dramatic horror is way overblown.

The 2018 OSU game on the other hand, completely shredded any mythic thoughts about Michigan football.  They gave up 62 points and were consistently shredded up and down the field.  They were literally unable to defend themselves.  That didn't happen against App State.

You apparently don't pay much attention to college football.  The 2007 App State team probably would have beaten half of the FBS teams that year.  They've stepped up to FBS since then and are doing very well (beat North Carolina, South Carolina and won a bowl game this year).  I'd contend that losing to Toledo in 2008 was way more embarrassing than losing to App State in 2007 (for those who understand context).

Regarding OSU, it's not just losing, it's how they lost.  They gave up 62 points.  They were overmatched in every possible way.  OSU essentially stole their lunch money, knocked the books out of their hands then threw them in a mud puddle on the way home....and Michigan couldn't do anything about it.  That's true embarrassment.

I meant Carr era players. Thought that was pretty obvious since I was replying to someone who referenced Carr era players. I never specified Jake Long, Chad Henne, or Mike Hart. I am fully aware they went 0-4 against OSU.

Now all you clowns hate Long.  Lol. MGoBuggers get triggered by anyone questioning Harbaugh.

The team has quit and given up playing for Harbaugh.  Next year will be 7-5 and Harbaugh will be gone.  Players are leaving in record numbers for a reason.  Stop living in denial.

and what do the guys who actually played football for UM know about the program?  I definitely think a bunch of fat, bald guys on a blog know what’s best.

I think you are dead wrong about Michigan's record next season, and I don't think you know a fucking thing about Michigan football. You are a poser and an obvious shithead. You repeatedly bleat like a retarded goat at the "clowns" on the board yet are -- without a doubt -- one of the most abject clowns I have ever seen on here. Go find a hobby or something. You need perspective.

I know we have to replace a lot, but we will still take the field with the more talented team in at least 10 of our games next year. They might be young and/or inexperienced but they are talented enough to win 10 or 11 games next year. They will probably lose one they shouldn’t lose, so 9-3 should be the floor. If they only win 7 games, then Harbaugh should be on the hot seat and I’m a Harbaugh supporter. Although things aren’t what I expected with him, they are still pretty good and as soon as they get the breakthrough win against OSU, things will become great.

Many folks, me included, thought Michigan was destined to be 6 and 6 this past season after the big loss to Wisc. Some thought 2 and 10.

Michigan will be better than 7 and 5 in 2020.

Some folks are in the all or nothing camp wrt Michigan football.
