Because they wrote that last week in anticipation of what they thought might happen, and are too lazy/incompetent to determine what actually did happen.
They are as surprised as we are about how Signing Day has transpired, but unlike us, they are paid not to just be surprised and then ignore it.

Really not a bad end to signing day considering everything. Get a new DC and DL coach who can recruit their ass off and flip Benny from MSU. Rooks and Ceyair would be awesome but if not them, I hope Michigan recruits anyone unsigned and the transfer portal hard.

Defensive Tackle is going to be a nightmare for the next few seasons if they can't get playable talent out of the portal.
I wonder if finding a DC that can install a well run 3-4 / 3-3-5 might be a good idea to consider? With the way this roster is constructed a four man front is going to get ground into dust through the middle of the defense. Our safety, linebacker corps however is stocked pretty well.
Seems like it could be a good way to adapt the strengths of the current roster to a competent defensive scheme.

Great news! I do think this kid is underrated as a prospect. He's an extremely accomplished player in one of the most competitive leagues in the country. I am assuming perhaps his measurables is what is keeping him from elevating his ranking to the recruiting sites. But he is exactly the kind of player I would put money on as a sleeper that delivers results.

As mentioned in the Dudek thread, the defensive targets were told to hold off until official signing day to get a better idea of where the defense is heading = coaching & system changes.
