It's The End of World As We Know It - Michigan Monday
Michigan Monday was posted on The Buckeye Scoop Board last night and it is likely to be our most favorite posting of this column to date by Tony Gerdeman.
https://buckeyescoop.com/michigan-monday-its-the-end-of-the-world-as-we-know-it/
Here are some highlights but it is all worth reading.
- The Title Is Wonderful
- "Michigan is no longer a punchline and nobody is laughing."
- "It’s like this entire season has been one long September for Harbaugh and the Wolverines."
- "This was no triple for Michigan. They got to third this year by advancing to first base on a passed ball, then were bunted over to second before stealing third. They scrapped, they fought. Things that maybe they weren’t doing before."
- "For now, Jim Harbaugh is back, and he’s back with a vengeance."
- "The question is whether or not there is doubt now residing in Columbus."
- "When the Wolverines beat the Buckeyes nine days ago, a sleeping giant was awakened."
Enjoy!

Is Michigan the 'sleeping giant'?
December 7th, 2021 at 4:18 PM ^
I'm running with the fact that that they are the sleeping giant.
December 7th, 2021 at 4:49 PM ^
It say's "But we wont know until next year if that giant was Michigan or Ohio State".
December 7th, 2021 at 10:17 PM ^
How can a giant that has been terrorizing Tokyo for over a decade be characterized as sleeping???
December 8th, 2021 at 3:28 AM ^
Decade?
December 13th, 2021 at 7:55 AM ^
As in the buckeyes have been really good for a little bit.
December 7th, 2021 at 5:04 PM ^
He answered that in the last line
But we won’t know until next year if that giant was Michigan or Ohio State.
December 7th, 2021 at 5:33 PM ^
Answered isn't quite the right word, but yeah.
December 7th, 2021 at 5:37 PM ^
It truly could be both, which is why the rivalry is experiencing a renewal.
December 7th, 2021 at 4:18 PM ^
That was delicious
December 7th, 2021 at 4:22 PM ^
Tony knows how to write entertaining material. He was smug about OSU's chances to beat UM and scoffed at McNamara with his buddy Tom Orr.
I'm glad he got to eat a heaping helping (a large Buckeye Scoop) of crow.
December 7th, 2021 at 4:27 PM ^
Does anyone know why he reposts his entire article in the comments every time?
December 7th, 2021 at 4:54 PM ^
Gets himself some extra sweet sweet OSUPoints. Not too far away from turning them in to get the personalized combo cooler/toilet that's the envy of all buckeye fans.
December 7th, 2021 at 5:08 PM ^
I wonder if he does it to get at least some of the BuckNuts to maybe read before they post their drooling zombie "Muck Fichigan" comments.
December 7th, 2021 at 4:30 PM ^
Sorry to be crude but this is spank bank material right here.
December 7th, 2021 at 4:30 PM ^
Is it customary for every sentence to be it's own paragraph in these articles?
December 7th, 2021 at 4:42 PM ^
It's an example of the Ohio difference. You're only able to have one thought at a time, so by the time one sentence is over you aren't able to connect it to anything else. new paragraphs
are.
your.
friend.
December 7th, 2021 at 7:18 PM ^
Read my damn mind.
December 7th, 2021 at 7:22 PM ^
When you are a mouth breather you have to take pauses between sentences.
December 7th, 2021 at 8:25 PM ^
It lengthens the article to seem longer without using more words. Oldest trick in the book, along with wide margins, etc, for undergrad when the assignment is X number of pages of writing.
December 7th, 2021 at 10:54 PM ^
What students never realize is how much those papers stick out when you’re grading a stack of them.
“Hmm, here’s a paper with 2 inch margins, in 14-point courier, with 2.5 spaces between lines. I’m sure those are just the default settings and there’s nothing going on here.”
December 7th, 2021 at 4:32 PM ^
That is glorious. I'd like to meet that guy someday.
December 7th, 2021 at 4:37 PM ^
SCHWING!!!
December 7th, 2021 at 4:37 PM ^
My favorite thought:
Wounds this deep don’t heal quickly, especially if Jim Harbaugh keeps sticking his finger down to the bone asking “does it hurt when I do this?”
December 7th, 2021 at 5:24 PM ^
That line is hilarious, especially because I can see Harbaugh actually doing that.
December 7th, 2021 at 4:44 PM ^
I didn't know he did Michigan Monday after The Game. I always thought it was just a preview series that led up to The Game.
Whatever, it is glorious.
He probably gets more than half his readers for Michigan Monday from Michigan fans anyway. He knows how to work the audience.
December 7th, 2021 at 5:24 PM ^
He doesn't seem to do it often.
December 7th, 2021 at 4:44 PM ^
Next year's game in the Horseshoe is absolutely critical. If I was given the choice to pick whether we win this upcoming playoff, OR, next year's Game I think I'd pick the latter.
December 7th, 2021 at 4:47 PM ^
I'd rather win the natty if given a choice, but I do agree overall with what you're saying. Making it two in a row would be huge.
December 7th, 2021 at 7:26 PM ^
Definitely. And, at the risk of "moving the goalposts," it would, at least, put to bed the sudden explanation that Michigan is just allowed a decennial win.
December 7th, 2021 at 4:47 PM ^
Yeah, two in a row would break the aura of inevitability for the Ohio State program. We're then back to the ten year war.
And some of those 5-star recruits from Texas and California that OSU always gets go elsewhere.
December 7th, 2021 at 4:56 PM ^
When we beat them in Columbus they will panic. Probably fire Day, or his entire staff, and retool their whole program. With a little luck they'll make some big mistakes.
December 7th, 2021 at 5:07 PM ^
....maybe hire Luke Fickell, who we have already beaten as the osu coach.
December 8th, 2021 at 9:13 AM ^
I don't know if I want them to hire Fickell, he's doing a real good job at Cincy.
He's come a long way as the Head man in charge...
December 7th, 2021 at 5:26 PM ^
I said previously (I think in a since deleted topic) that until OSU beats Michigan again that every loss they suffer will be magnified, and every win minimized.
December 7th, 2021 at 7:49 PM ^
I think if The Team uses all this extra allotted practice time to prepare for OSU next year, Ga, Al, or Cincy are just speedbumps.

December 7th, 2021 at 8:30 PM ^
I get it, but the recruiting boost we would immediately receive... I don't know. Tough call.
December 7th, 2021 at 4:45 PM ^
It's brought some joy to my heart to see Buckeyes questioning Ryan Day for the first time. Some fans are relying on illnesses or weather ton tell themselves everythings fine, but I think the ones who know anything about the game realize Day got beat up on both sides of the ball, especially on defense which was basically a disaster.
It will be an interesting 2-3 years with Day. Can he keep OSU going at these levels? Or is he gonna be like a David Shaw where eventually it's apparent the guy isn't elite and he was just driving the old guys car
December 7th, 2021 at 4:47 PM ^
Day is gone after next season to the NFL.
December 7th, 2021 at 8:16 PM ^
I agree, He'll be they guy that inflates Tom Brady's Balls.
December 7th, 2021 at 10:57 PM ^
Day to the Bears by MLK day. Book it.
December 7th, 2021 at 5:23 PM ^
If you don't think Ohio State will stress "being physical" in their upcoming assistant coaching hires and all through spring and summer camp, you're crazy. Ohio State fans and former players will be obsessed with it from now till next November. Gattis made guaranteed that.
Game on.
December 7th, 2021 at 8:17 PM ^
Problem is, that's not Day's nature. He's a Big 12 type of guy.
December 7th, 2021 at 9:48 PM ^
No, I don't believe that Day can keep OSU going at the Meyer level.
Love him or hate him, Urban was one of the best CFB coaches ever.
It's hugely improbable that Day will also prove to be one of the best CFB coaches ever.
December 7th, 2021 at 4:51 PM ^
Buckeye fans forget that what goes up must come down. No program has a forever upward trajectory. None. Some have had extraordinarily long runs, but all things come to an end. Gerdeman's right -- this win of ours changed everything. It turned the world on its axis. It has now made a Michigan win a real possibility by planting a seed of doubt. And you all know where seeds of doubt lead: BPONE.
December 7th, 2021 at 4:51 PM ^
Screw that ass clown. Backhanded comments and all. I hate the Buckeyes with the fire of 10,000 suns. He likes it when Michigan is up....great for the B1G.....great for the rivalry. I call insincere, condescending BULLSHIT on that. I want the Buckeyes to be an unending implosion of shit filled coolers. A perpetual machine of misery. Grind them into the turf every year, no close games, nothing but hellfire and bloody damnation raining down on them for ever and ever AMEN.
December 7th, 2021 at 6:25 PM ^
I don't share your sentiment... Instead, I want them to win every game but ours. The rivalry is what it is because of the true respect between the programs. Leave your hate shit for Sparty.
December 7th, 2021 at 8:32 PM ^
I disagree. No fanbase deserves an extended downturn more than Ohio State.
December 7th, 2021 at 4:53 PM ^
And I feel fine!
