Those were NOT minor issues with Wadley- he ripped us big time. Our D has serious problems tackling shifty running backs. OSU is salivating at this. If iowa had more of a passing attack they put up 28. Our run defense was supposed to be the best thing about this team and it got exposed.

If I am OSU OC- I play Brown's aggressive D like a violin and set up all kinds of play action, fade routes, screen passes, QB sneaks and make them pay. I do not think they can tackle QB Barrett.

Serious issues were exposed today- it is not all on Wilton and bad playcalling.

McCray is too slow to be our ideal linebacker. He's 6'4 and a lot of tall guys just don't have great side to side speed. No matter what it may be, he's just not fast enough.

Defense made numerous stops all game to keep us in it and ultimately to win. The QB keeper at the end to get Iowa that close chip shot was a back breaker. Defense wasn't perfect, but DEFINITELY played well enough to win. On to the offense.....

Peppers is kind of a lone wolf in the defensive scheme. This is the first game where I think he seemed out of sync. I like what he adds to offense, and they needed it, but how fresh was he at the end.

C. J. Beathard could not wait to get rid of the ball the whole night.  The only three plays he made was a short pass, a screen pass, and his qb draw at the end of the game which set up the field goal, after the phantom face mask contributed to putting them into f.g. position.   Wadley is also a  heckuva player.

Sure, they could do things better. They still get gashed on the run (a la MSU game) more than I'd like and also susceptible to short passes.

But Charlton, and then Stribling, made the big play when it counted. That should have been enough.

(and yes, I know 2 pts were scored on a safety, but Iowa missed a wide open 2 pt conversion with a ball bouncing off the hands, so 14 points is fair).

The Iowa offense is garbage and Wadley ran all over them. Brown believes in stopping the run first, but not tonight. DL never asserted itself. Wormley and Glasgow have disappeared - thank goodness Taco and Hurst are playing ball. Great Ds find a way to shut out or certainly make the crucial stop like the end of the game. Still, this loss should hang squarely on Speight, Smoth and the OL - their output was D-. Oh well, the whole team gets to stomach the loss. Just not good enough when the going got tough. I thought these seniors had the moxie to be champions but not enough tonight. Onward.

is Akrum Wadley. He was a mis-match waiting to happen and Michigan LBs aren't athletic enough to deal with him.

This should scare you because OSU has more weapons and Samuel is a dynamic runner in space.

Still getting gashed by the run. They got 50 yards againt penn st and 83 against wisconsin. Bad performance, another 10-3 or 11-2 season and no big ten title. This defense is gonna get killed by osu

Our D-line isn't as dominant as we thought. Our LBs are a problem, which we knew coming into the season (but thought we had fixed). Teams are using our aggressiveness against us, and exposing our soft edges. Maybe McCray is hurt (noticed the huge brace), but he looks like Shaq guarding Iverson in space. There was one play where Wormley did better in space than him. That's no bueno.

Sometimes I think opposing coaches read MGoBlog to get a scouting report or for self evaluation. It seemed the fee fi foe film and podcasts for the week was very high on Wadley over the starter Daniels, due to his speed and vision, yet for whatever reason he was the feature back tonight.

Defense was okay.

Not good, but not bad/the reason we lost.

They gave up 12 points and half of those came on field goals from drives Iowa was able to start within our 40 yard line due to special teams/penalities.

Some issues with the RB, but nothing major. Most disappointing was allowing Iowa to get an easy TD on fourth and goal, don't understand why the hell we blitzed there.

Yep, why the hell are we blitzing there?  They knew we would do it and it looked like they already decided before the 3rd down play that there were going for it on 4th down.

He has been getting caught in blitzes a lot lately.

We didn't learn our lesson on the play to end the first half against Maryland.

Overall I was happy with our defense. Holding a team to 12 points from their offense is solid. Although, I just saw on twitter that we only had ten players out for the final field goal. Uh...that's not good. A rare, uncharacteristic silly mistake from a Harbaugh team.

A somewhat fitting thing to find out.

The team wasn't ready to play or focused.

Very undisciplined and as a result we allowed ourselves to get screwed by a referee that the coaching staff knew screwed them before.

We dicked around all game and paid the price.

The fact that Harbaugh got outcoached by Ferentz is very disturbing.

Yep. Bush was one questionable personal foul call away from being sent a message. I like what Bush brings to the table but he needs to be more cautious with above the shoulder pads area contact. Bush and Furbush will be relentless tacklers for us in the near future. I'm looking forward to that tandem along with a blue chip or two to bring our LB corps to an elite status. 2nd-level area coverage and tackling have been our biggest defensive weaknesses this year (along with offensive holding that doesn't get called and Strib whiffing on run support).

I'm just not happy losing to a Greg Davis coached offense.

The death knell was the McCray 15 yarder at the end.  Without that penalty, there is still hope the defense could withstand a final flurry and survive.   But that 15 yards was huge.  15 free yards in a Greg Davis offense is way beyond huge.

Not the greatest defensive showing we had this year, too many missed tackles. However, we held them to only 14 points and 2 of that wasn't on them and they were on the field for a majority of the game. Improvements to be made but the loss falls more on the offense.
