If Coach Hoke wants to unite the fanbase and bring back Michigan Football, I have a simple yet obvious suggestion for Step 1

Get rid of the stupid-ass adidas horns on the away uniforms. Please.

I'm all for ending the curse and bringing back Nike.  Long before I ever came to Michigan--probably goes back to the Fab Five era--I've always seen Michigan as a foundation "Nike" school.  Hoping we can get Nike to outbid Adidas next time.  Bring back the swoosh.

I believe PSU and FSU were the first two schools to sign university-wide Nike deals.  They signed them around 1993.  We signed ours in '94, and OSU and others signed around the same time.  (Our football and men's basketball coaches had deals with Nike going back to the early '80s.)

Michigan's uniform components pre-Nike were a hodgepodge of manufacturers.  And some of that stuff was swoosh-ified once the switch was made in '94-95.  In fact, I have a pair of football game pants I bought at the athletic department garage sale sometime in 97-98 (I think) that have a Wilson manufacturer's tag inside, but a Nike swoosh embroidered on the front.

Also, anybody remember the general grumbling and gnashing of teeth when it was announced the swoosh was going to be on the football jerseys?

The hockey jersey's they used for the big chill were awfull as well.

Not impressed.

I would like to see captains and the #1 jersey comeback, That would be a good step for me.

I don't really care if we have Adidas or not, but we definitely need to get rid of those stripes on the sides of the away uniforms.  I don't understand what the designers were going for.

We make SO much $$$ from the Adidas contract (~$7.5M/yr, that's more than OR gets from Nike BTW) that Nike would have to ante up big time come renegotiation time for us to switch I think. Business is business.

Just what I want..Go back to Nike so they can come up with a "cool" design that wont have our own colors in the Uniforms..No thank you..The hidious nike uni's that I saw this year are enough for me to think of Under Armor before Nike....Adidas is fine....But yeah...changing back to Nike will bring together the in fighting..Not wins or anything like that...

That will REALLY unite the fanbase...How about playing some defense?  Adidas horns?  Really?  Who gives a crap about who makes our uniforms?

I really like the Adidas stuff. Unlike Nike's fake history (pro-combat), they've worked really hard to integrate our history into the uniforms. I'm not a fan of the away unis either, but they're an upgrade from the stupid yellow piping from the last set of Nike away jerserys. Plus, our home jerseys don't have the blue diaper look.

I was never a huge fan of the Nike apparel and have been really happy with the stuff Adidas has done.

you don't get it.

people want something to bitch about.  now that all talking points over the CC have been covered, people are looking for something new.  well, it seems that is one place they've settled.

i mean, it'd be great to throw away the guaranteed best athletic contract (outside of the Oregon-Nike marriage, something which we'll never get) to go back to a product which wasn't all that different, except for the corporate branding.  our contract with adidas promises us that we'll always be the highest paid adidas school.  but seriously, who needs that money anyways.  and who cares that we have dedicated reps from adidas on campus at all times ready to do the bidding of our athletic department.

Big10 wide in the same vien as the BTN.  I'd also love to see it operated out factories in the Rust Belt as opposed to some SE Asian sweatshop but I doubt that will ever happen.

I just wished Adidas made more nice looking stuff for the fans.  It seemed Nike always had a wide variety of stuff to chose from back in the day.

I can't see how Adidas is making that much money off of Michigan athletics compared to Nike.  I remember in the mid to late 90's everyone bought Nike Michigan gear.  I don't really see a lot of Michigan Adidas stuff today. IMO.

I like the brightness of the "Sun" color, especially during the game, it drowns out the other schools colors in the stands.  At least it's not that god aweful highlighter yellow Oregon had in the National Championship game.....
