How Is Your Snow Day Going?

Submitted by XM - Mt 1822 on February 2nd, 2022 at 9:14 AM

Mates,

I must admit a little jealousy as I do love a good snowstorm.  But, its not quite so much fun when you live in cities and need to commute to places, get your kids to their events, things like that.   This is the Ann Arbor weather statement per NOAA right now:

...WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 10 PM EST THURSDAY... * WHAT...Heavy snow expected. Total snow accumulations of 10 to 12 inches. * WHERE...Washtenaw, Lenawee, Monroe and Wayne Counties. * WHEN...Until 10 PM EST Thursday. * IMPACTS...Travel could be very difficult to impossible. The hazardous conditions could impact the morning or evening commute. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Rain transitions to snow late this morning. Snow and falling temperatures will result in snow covered and slick roads. Peak snowfall occurs this afternoon with rates up to an inch per hour at times. Gusty north winds this afternoon and evening may lead to some blowing and drifting snow and poor visibilities. Snow rates drop off overnight with light snow continuing through Thursday. Rates may briefly increase to one half inch per hour Thursday afternoon.

I hope you are well prepared, don't have to drive too much, and are able to actually enjoy a good snowfall

Be safe, Go Blue, and if Harbaugh leaves don't worry, we'll find another excellent coach

No snow yet, I am super annoyed this isn't hitting up north as a snowmobiler. This winter has sucked for the northern LP and i'm sick of driving to UP for good snow to ride.

What sucks even more, Indy getting 10+ of that nice system snow. All rain so far but the change is coming.  gonna be a messy day.. Kids are on E learning the rest of week. poor Kids don't even get true snow day anymore.

Sunny and 34 degrees here.... heading for a high of 42 today.  The rain moves in tonight and tomorrow afternoon/evening changes to ice and then snow into friday.   We're expecting 6" to 12".

Such is the season!

Stay safe Maize n Blue Nation!

Onward, Go Blue!

Not bad down here in Virginia.  We had 2 inches of snow last Saturday.  2 inches paralyzes the area around DC.  These people have no clue.

In the defense of NC officials... if those roads get any sort of ice on them, they are stupidly slippery--ten times worse than up north.  I think they use glass to dissipate a lot of the heat in the summers, but it's terrible for winter weather.  Or something like that.

Its snowing now and starting to stick.  The rain overnight almost melted what snow was on the ground.

Your up to the moment weather report from northwest Wayne county.

Five inches of snow for South Central Kansas is like five feet for you. I have minimal outdoor chores to do. Have a nice stack of firewood on the porch. I'll make a run into town for several things, make a batch of noodles and probably bake a pie.

Don't worry, be happy. The next Michigan football coach will take us up a notch.

Edit: Just in from doing chores. It's 15 degrees with 25 mph winds-gusting to, likely, near 40. They say we have 5" of snow but it is hard to tell out here-flat, no trees or fence lines...the snow all piles up on the roads. We have about three miles out to the highway...my North Dakota raised wife says going into town can wait.

It's snowing pretty good here in Evanston. It rained yesterday, so there's a layer of slush covered with a new layer of powder. If your boots aren't truly waterproof, you're looking at icicle toes.

Nothing to report yet in Detroit burbs. Seems like the worst of it might hit south of here. It rained all night and melted away the snow on the ground. Wish it would stay 40 degrees and skip this snowstorm. We haven't had much snow this year, and the sun has been shining more often than usual. But I'm tired of the cold.

If the airlines are cancelling 3,000 commercial flights, it wouldn't make sense for a private jet to fly - especially in a non-urgent situation.  The longer he stays there, the more opportunities for the Vikings to see Harbaugh's quirkiness and ask themselves if he is the right person for the job.

We'll find another excellent coach....

Question. In your opinion , who was our last excellent coach?

that is rich coming from you (saggie) of all people, who stalk my posts and negs me for no reason.  the points mean nothing, but your irrational hate and bizarre obsession though, that is something.  have you considered seeing someone about that?  are there other things in your life that are so miserable that you can't stop yourself?   do you have someone you can talk to, a friend or family member?  seriously, have you considered how petty and childish that is?  what's up saggie, you should try to fix this.

now you are lying to cover up your unmerited hate.  there is nothing about my OP that is the slightest bit disagreeable. and frankly, pretty much every one of your other stalking-negs has been on equally innocuous posts of mine.

i'm not mad, i'm just some dude on the internet, but you really ought to look into your heart and try and see what it is that motivates you to behave like this.   you have a problem and it's eating you up.  it probably has almost nothing to actually do with me, but man, do yourself a favor and look into it, try to figure it out.

i wish you well saggie, and if it makes you feel better to neg me, i guess, hey, knock yourself out.

This is comical.

You came at me. Not once on this thread did I say anything about you.

I know it’s hard to believe that everyone doesn’t love your posts, but I don’t agree with some things you say and others I ignore and scroll past.

Enough with the armchair psychologist. And my screen name is SagNasty, not “saggie”.

Snowing now in Fort Wayne, Accuweather says 1-2 Feet, locals say 15-18 inches so both right I suppose.  Boss had foresight to let us work remotely today and tomorrow, thankful for that. Now down in basement office adjacent to Man-Cave, and having flashbacks to the early covid lockdown days. Getting thru it, snowblower tested and ready, lets GOOOO!  Let it SNOW!!

Definitely easier to stay on MGoBlog here LOL.

Ratio increasing here in Saline, accumulation starting. Roads are slushy. Wish we were getting the original estimates (6-10” today, 8-14” tomorrow), but I’ll be pleased with a good foot on the ground at the end of it all!
